New York Times: 10 Best Books of 2015

Yeah! The Invention of Nature made it to New York Times 10 Best Books of 2015 ... 5 fiction, 5 non-fiction ...

Wulf does much to revive our appreciation of this ecological visionary through her lively, impressively researched account of his travels and exploits, reminding us of the lasting influence of his primary insight: that the Earth is a single, interconnected organism, one that can be catastrophically damaged by our own destructive actions.  New York Times Sunday Book Review

Public Books: The Invention of Nature

Andrea Wulfs masterful The Invention of Nature: Alexander von Humboldts New World represents the best of the handful of English language books that have appeared in the last decade focused on Humboldt and his science. Wulfs superb biography reaches beyond Humboldts remarkable life to encompass his adventures as the first ecological internationalist Public Books

New York Times: Back Story

Nice mention of Humboldt, The Invention of Nature and climate change in the New York Times. With the climate talks held in Paris... at last someone is noting that Humboldt was the first to predict harmful human-induced climate change in 1800.

New Scientist: Best Books of 2015

"Everyones heard the name. Its dotted over half the worlds maps. But who knows why? Alexander von Humboldt was a scientific superstar, his life packed with adventures, discovery and a cast of 19th-century movers and shakers. Napoleon envied him his fame. Darwin was an ardent admirer. Read Andrea Wulfs gripping biography and you will be wowed by him too. If Humboldt doesnt win prizes Ill eat my party hat."
