L.C. Giroux's Blog, page 9

20 minutes of motivation

Neil Gaiman is not a natural muse for a romance writer but I've been a geek all my life. I found this through Tim Ferris' blog and adored it. Perfect for anyone in the arts but really couldn't we all use the advice he gives.

Along these same lines I was reviewed in RT Reviews Magazine and Diane Morasco said very nice things about 'His Lady Godiva'

"Spicy dialogue, enjoyable characters, an interesting premise and good storytelling will have readers devouring this delightful novella like a refreshing Italian ice in the blazing Texas heat — and yearning for more. While some scenes are a bit predictable, readers will enjoy the respite Giroux offers in this entertaining nugget, the first in a series."

If you've ever lived in Texas or in my case Northern Louisiana, you can truly appreciate that Italian ice line!

Something a little different

So I have two promotions coming up (One starting Tomorrow!!) with freebies on Amazon. This coming weekend His Deception will be free through Mother's day and on the 23rd I will be part of the big Beach Book Blast where you can win a Kindle Fire! The 23rd to the 25th you can download Second Chance at Salvation free and on the 24th His Deception will be free for the last time evah!

Well I'm sweetening the pot even more! Download either or both of the books and write a review before June 18th (Which happens to be my birthday!) and you will be entered into a drawing for a piece similar to the one below.

164169A2-310D-448E-92D7-7368197C02AA

It is a wrap bracelet that can also be worn as a single or double strand necklace. It features freshwater pearls and abalone shell. Similar pieces retail for $265 at Neiman Marcus! Every review counts as an entry so if you review both books you'll be entered twice. Good Luck!

Lola takes her job very seriously.

It's not like we ever have overnight guests anyway. And she hates the dog bed I got her.

So you may have seen a tweet about some upcoming freebies if not here are the deets (my tweener hates when I try to sound hip, Mwahahaha!)

OMG!

Here's what's been going on in my neck of the woods.

First, let me introduce my new writing partner!

This is Lola. She is in charge of napping schedules and yoga stretching. Her down dog is out of this world.

Second, Second Chance at Salvation (Lovers and Other Strangers Book Four) is live! and will be part of a big group freebie promo May 23-25th.

Third, His Deception (Lovers and Other Strangers Book Three) will be free over Mother's day weekend! If Mom is getting a Kindle anyway go ahead and pre-load it

Fourth, I am almost done with the next book in my series. Now I need a title! Lucky in Love was used very recently so that is kind of out. I thought about using All In, but I don't know? Too suggestive? It has been used of course but not recently I don't think. So I am taking suggestions. Here is the blurb for the story.

Curley Jackson was a man with simple tastes. He liked his beer cold, his women smooth and his poker hands hot.

Gianna Berri had barely lived her life beyond just existing. Now she was on the run and determined to grab what was left with both hands.

Update!- No Noise is Good News

Okay, I've been lax in posting updates but only because all that creative energy has been being pumped into my novels and other stuff. So here is the update:

1) Second Chance at Salvation (Lovers and Other Strangers Book Four) is done. This is a total tease because it won't come out till May -Sorry!

2)I'm a third of the way through Lucky in Love (Lovers and Other Strangers Book Five) Vegas baby!

3) I'm going to be teaching a Mechanics of e-Pub course at a university no less! Standing before the class doesn't scare me as long as I don't have to write on the chalk board.

4) In response to some fan mail I've gotten I started looking into producing some of my work as audiobooks and I am going to go for it! They'll be read by yours truly so I will finally be able to put some of those acting chops back in use.

Hope lots of crazy good thinks are happening in your neck of the woods too!

A Tuesday Treat!

Okay, one of the best parts of being a romance writer is that you get to think about romance all the time, er, if you're not thinking about sex but let's stick to romance for right now. I made this for something else but I thought it was fun. Enjoy!

Fun -for me!

Okay, I missed the last two posts because I was in a full on, no holds barred, writing zone. In the last couple of days I have kicked out about 1/3 of my next book. This one is wild. Not the story just trying to tame the characters. Sometimes when you write you know exactly what is going to happen. I'm not a big planner but I usually 'see' the story and the characters before I start writing. Well, these two started out tough but  are turning into something much sweeter and more sensual than I thought I'd be writing. They ended up in bed sooner too. Sometimes the characters know what they want more than I do and I just have to let them go for it or nothing comes out. That is definitely the case with Ransom and Sarina.

Payback revision

The other thing that I did that was fun, for me at least, is put up Pay Back, the second story in the series on Smashwords and Barnes and Noble. It will percolate through the other outlets (iTunes, etc.) over the next month. If you haven't picked it up yet or needed it in a non-Kindle format. Now is your shot!

Fun -A little late!

Series Box Set - Full Color

How cool does that look? I have to thank Steena Holmes for the art work to put together the boxed set. I'm going to be doing an ad in RT Review in July but of course these things actually happen months ahead of time. This will be available every where come July. If you are an author and need graphics work Steena's turn around on this was literally overnight. Can't argue with that! And yes, I did squeal like a tweener when I saw it. You can contact Steena through www.theauthorsredroom.com

Sexy -The character's Voice (a day late)

Sorry about the timing, the day job kicked my butt yesterday so…

The last Sexy post I did was about um, getting in the mood and how you can tap into the world around you to do that. One of the things that I do is listen to my characters voices. Seriously, I have all these different voices in my head telling me stories, they are not telling me to do things, that is a form of mental illness. I have already started working on Sarina's story, though she insists on being called Sal, she is Cam's sister and Delia's mother.

Her love interest is Ransom Sheppard, a rancher in New Mexico. Here is the funny thing. In my head he sounds just like Bruce Springsteen and not a young Bruce. Bruce now has some grit and gravel to his voice. How do you do that many concerts and not? But Ransom doesn't sing. The grit and gravel comes through when he's whispering in Sarina's (He only calls her Sarina) ear. Sends tingles down my back.
