Wanton Wednesday -Mammograms are sexy!

Okay, bear with me here. It is actually a fairly short line from Breasts (definitely sexy in ALL shapes and sizes!) to stuff that keeps those sexy things healthy being sexy ergo, Mammograms are sexy. I know October is Breast Cancer Awareness month but did you manage to schedule your mammogram? I understand you're busy, let's face it they aren't super fab fun so it is way easier to just not think about it. Just set up the appointment and go already. They are quicker than they used to be -hell, it takes me longer to get undressed than it does to take the images. Yes, they are going to squeeze the hell out of what is supposed to be delicate flesh. In the yuckiness spectrum of what a woman has to go through in her life, a once a year mammo is way less bad than getting your period every month. Hey, if it makes you feel better, indulge in some minor retail therapy afterwards. A new lipstick makes almost anything better.

Make up Monday iDesign

I worked in cosmetics for about 10 years on and off, mostly on. I was there for the late 80's-early 90's. The era of high art eye make up. It was not unusual to sell a customer 5 different colors of eye shadow to be worn together -at the same time! And you think a smokey eye is hard. Here's how I would make it easier on the customer. One of those 'colors' was always a matte nude shadow that looked like their skin but cleaned up and freshened. Put this color on first. On the weekend for running around doing errands maybe you just need this and some mascara and you look awake and rested. If you are planning a smokey eye or other more involved face painting this gives you a perfect base to blend on top of so you don't end up with eye shadow clinging to bare skin and giving you a hard line. Now the 80's dark lipliner thing is a whole other post!

Fashion Friday -Five Easy Pieces, of clothes.

If you've never watched the classic 70's Jack Nicholson movie Five Easy Pieces. You should, just once. Watching it more than that is slightly masochistic. But the chance to see Jack before he started just doing caricatures of himself is worth the uncomfortableness of the story. This is not a love story, well it sort of is, till it isn't, but still it is worth seeing. 

But this is supposed to be about fashion. InStyle Magazine had a quick 2 page article on the Five Pieces that could be the back bone of your closet. They recommend specific colors which I won't. Pick the best color for you, not what fashion says is hot now. You'll be much happier in the long run. So the list:

a Jacket (they show a basic boyfriend cut) in one of your best not black neutralsa Shift Dress (My advice, make it a shape that works for you) in a classic color that pops against your neutralsa Pencil Skirt (Again, if A-line is a better style for you go with that or straight) in a basic color or a texture like tweeda White Shirt (It is a myth that everyone looks good in a white shirt, my basic white shirt is Black) Find something plain, look in the men's dept. a pair of Colored Jeans (Go with a bright that pops against your neutrals) they kick things up from your basic denims

Even with just these pieced you could put some great outfits together but the truth is they mix with everything you already own. What is not to love there!  

Wanton Wednesday A better way

Did you know there was a better way to have sex? Better as in a more direct path to orgasm for women. And it isn't a position that is likely to make your mother blush. Okay, my mother wouldn't blush, yours might. Tim Ferris is a little crazy but this, this is genius. Read the .pdf and surprise someone tonight. You'll need Adobe Reader to print it out. Fair warning though you may never want to go back to plain vanilla sex again. Second Warning: the images in the .pdf are not safe for work or kids. They are just line drawings and educational but that doesn't mean I want my tweener peeking at them. Looking for better ways to have sex, just part of my job. I love my job!

Make up Monday- Oxymoronic concept I am loving!

Clear Make up. It sounds utterly stupid. I mean, the whole point of make up is to enhance or more likely hide stuff. Clear make up sounds like a bridge someone wants to sell you. I am here to tell you to go ahead and buy it. Really. It is also sold as primer which sounds like a high maintenance extra step that most of us don't have time for. Philosophy makes a good one that I used as primer but the one I am using currently is by Nip+Fab. In the UK you can get it at the pharmacy, in the US you can pick it up at Target. I mix it with my beauty balm on the back of my hand and it holds my make up in place all day. I had stopped using the beauty balm before this because it would move into my eyes and blind me -seriously not cool when you drive as much as I do. The really lovely thing about it is that it makes my skin look wonderful, like I've had really good… chocolate.
