Falling for You was a Book Club Pick!

So this past Thursday was a pretty fun day for me. I was a guest at a book club meeting nearby because they had chosen to read my book Falling for You as their book that month. I was surprised and thrilled! I’ve never been a book club selection before!! This is big news in my little world. So when they invited me to their meeting, I couldn’t resist. They are a small group, although honestly, I don’t know how big book clubs usually are. This one had about 6 members. But it’s still 6 people who felt my book was worthy of purchasing and chatting about! How cool! I got to answer some questions about the book and the characters. And they got to find out a little insider information about changes the book went through. And they were very excited to learn about the sequels!

I really enjoyed chatting with the girls at this book club. I’m definitely looking forward to doing it again sometime. Now I just need another book club to select Falling for You and ask me to visit in person or maybe via Skype. That would be too fun!!

Do you belong to a book club? Do you love it? I’ve always been an avid reader, but somehow I’ve never found my way into being a part of a book club. How strange, right?

Girly Book Blog Hop!

Click icon to go back to the host site.

Welcome to the Girly Book Blog hop!! It should be a lot of fun. When you’re finished here, just click on the link below to go back to the list of participating hoppers to find your next blog!

Next Stop In the Blog Hop!!

Now on with the hop! Today we’re all chatting about those characters that sometimes get missed in the discussion—the secondary characters. These are the best friends, the coworkers, the ex-boyfriends and anyone else who is important to our main character. But just because they are secondary characters doesn’t mean they don’t play an important role in the book. They are often the confidant, the support system, and the person who helps to get our main character into sticky situations!

In my newest release FALLING FOR YOU, my favorite secondary character is Paige. She is another one of the girls who goes on the dating reality show in the hopes to find true love. She doesn’t find love, but she does find a best friend. Paige and Cassidy become quick friends, deciding that staying together is a better plan than facing Zoe Oliver, the blonde bombshell with a size-two jiggle-free ass, alone. Zoe is every girl you’ve ever hated. Together Paige and Cassidy stave off Zoe’s sarcasm and try to survive competing for the affections of the same guy.

And here’s a little secret…Paige is getting her own book!! On Feb 11, 2013, STUCK ON YOU releases featuring Paige in an all new reality TV romance. It’s not a dating show, but there’s lots of behind the scene steaminess! Love to hate Zoe? She’s back and you’ll never believe what she’s up to now!

How about a little excerpt?

Cassidy followed Paige and sat beside her on the sofa in the middle of the room, balancing the plate of food on her knees. She glanced at Paige’s plate wondering how a person could choose strawberries and celery when you had fancy sandwiches, tortes, pies, and salads to pick from.

“Not hungry?” Cassidy asked.

“Oh no, I’m starved. But there’s no way I’m eating all those calories when I have to go on television tomorrow. I’ve heard the camera adds ten pounds and I really don’t need any extra. Well, unless they could add it to my boobs.”

Cassidy evaluated her own plate. It wasn’t overflowing, but it wasn’t celery, either. “Hmm, you’re probably right.” She took a bite of chocolate cake. “But if I starved myself, I’d be cranky and trust me, no one would want to see that on TV.” She savored the taste of the creamy chocolate as it melted in her mouth.

“Maybe you should follow her lead and put your fork down,” a voice said, dripping with disdain.

Cassidy swallowed her bite. Of course, the voice belonged to the prettiest girl in the room. She had long blonde hair, vibrant blue eyes, and legs that could walk across the pages of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.

“Why, exactly?” Cassidy paused, her fork poised above the cake.

“She’s right about the camera.” The girl eyed Cassidy up and down as she stirred a tall glass of iced tea. “But I guess you’re not much competition anyway, are you? You may as well enjoy your cake while you’re still here.” The girl snickered and sauntered away.

“Wow. Who was that bitch?” Cassidy stabbed the cake and took another bite just to spite the bitchy blonde’s jiggle-free, size two ass as it walked away.

“That’s Zoe Oliver. She’s some big-shot singer or something. I bet she’s going to win this whole thing.”

“Well she can’t be that big if we’ve never heard of her.” Cassidy watched Zoe laughing with another girl and tried to decide if she’d ever heard of her before. “Although there is something sort of familiar about her—like I’ve seen her picture on a magazine in the checkout counter at the grocery store or something. But that can’t be right, can it?”

“No. It wouldn’t be fair to put someone famous on here with the rest of us.” “You’re probably right,” Cassidy said, deciding she really didn’t recognize the girl.

Zoe glanced up and caught Cassidy staring at her. A smile slowly spread across Zoe’s face as she turned to whisper to the girl next to her who laughed in response.

“We better watch out for her,” Cassidy said, setting down her plate on the cocktail table.

Author Interview — Synithia Williams

Today I’m swapping blog interviews with author Synithia Williams. Synithia is a fellow Crimson Romance author and therefore is awesome. LOL. But I’m not biased or anything. Nope. We decided it would be fun to swap blogs and both answer the same interview questions. These are Synithia’s answers and when you’re ready to see how I answered the same questions, check out Synithia’s Blog Here!

If you woke up tomorrow as an animal, what animal would you choose to be and why?

My favorite animals are sharks. I love the beauty, strength and fluid motion of sharks. I can’t wake up as one, but I would like to swim with them one day.

What item, that you don’t have already, would you most like to own?

I’d like to own a boat. I love the water (oceans and lakes). We live close to a beautiful lake and the ocean is only two hours away from us. If money were no object, I’d be out on the water all summer.

What was the best day of your life and why?

I should say when I had my kids, shouldn’t I? Or when I got married, right? While those are in my top five, my best day was a birthday I had when my husband and I were just dating. He got all of my co-workers together in the break room with a cake and they sang happy birthday. I also received calls and well wishes from friends. At the end of the day I felt so loved and blessed.

What’s your favorite romantic comedy and why?

Bridget Jones Diary. Number of reasons: Colin Firth, British humor, Colin Firth, a woman we can all relate to, and Colin Firth.

What’s your ideal activity on a rainy day? Sunny day?

Rainy day: reading or watching television. Sunny day: outside enjoying the sunshine with a book in hand.

If you could live in any time period–past, present, or future—which would you choose and why?

This is fantasy right? Okay, I’d be a Duchess in England during the Regency Period. Historical romances are my favorite, especially those set in Regency England. I know that in reality Regency England probably wasn’t as wonderful as it is in romance novels, but it would be fun to see it firsthand.

What’s the one place you’d most like to visit someday?

This shouldn’t be surprising based off my previous answer. London.

Are you a dog or cat person? Or other?

Cat person. Cats are so much easier than dogs.

What is your favorite genre to read?

Romance!

What are you most afraid of?

Heights. My palms get sweaty just thinking about getting higher than two stories.

Book Synopsis:

After several bad relationships, Kenyatta Copeland decides to control her love life with the same discernment she uses in her professional life.

Knowing firsthand the heartbreak that comes when desire and emotion rule a relationship, Kenyatta assumes marrying Brad Johnson will lead to a stable life. But as much as she believes she can plan her future, it’s hard to ignore the way her boss, Malcolm Patterson, ignites her passions with just one look. After Malcolm learns of her engagement, he makes a play for her heart and reminds her that passion between a man and a woman has its perks … but also its costs. When Brad suspects there’s more than work between Kenyatta and Malcolm, he works harder to keep Kenyatta by his side. Torn between her promise to marry Brad and her irrepressible longing for Malcolm, Kenyatta must decide if she can live her life in a passionless marriage of convenience or once again trust her heart. Yet Brad isn’t as perfect as he seems, and by the time Kenyatta realizes this it may be too late.

Exclusive Excerpt from Love or Luxury!

“Are you sure I can’t walk you to your door? I can’t stand the thought of you walking home from here so late at night.” He sat perched on his bike, as she’d insisted he do, after removing and storing her helmet.

“I’ll be fine. You know the Meadow is completely safe at night, and I literally live one minute from here. It’s no big deal.”

She opened the front of his jacket to slip it off, but he tugged the edges of the zipper back together so she couldn’t. Then he pulled her up against the side of the bike, her thighs ending up on either side of his knee. He fought back the urge to groan at the sensation of her body pressing against him that way. By the look of lust in her eyes, she was fighting an urge, too.

“Keep the jacket until I see you again.” His voice came out strained and gruff, partly because of the evening spent talking and dancing, and partly because he tried—and failed miserably—to keep his desire for her from coming through. She nodded. He noted she was once again at a loss for words this evening. “Keep this until next time, too.”

He leaned into her, claiming her mouth with his. He didn’t even try to fight the moan that came from the deepest regions of his body when she nibbled on his bottom lip then plunged her tongue into his mouth. He could kiss her all night.

He could think of about a million other things he could do with her all night, too. But not tonight. Tonight, he would go home alone totally satisfied—well, mostly satisfied—after one of the best first dates he’d ever had.

She pulled back from him, and he reluctantly forced himself to let her go. “Until next time,” she said as she stepped backward onto the curb, snuggling his jacket up under her chin as if she was trying to breathe in his scent. He liked the thought of that. A lot.

“Until next time.” He fit his helmet back on his head, revved the engine, and started down the road.
