Rachael Wise R.I.P.
As most Keenedom forum members already know, Rachael Wise, wife of author Bryan Smith, passed away last night after a decade-long battle with cancer. There is a thread on The Keenedom where you can offer your condolences, and Bryan has created a memorial page on Facebook. I consider myself very lucky to have known Rachael. She was always full of energy and laughter, and anyone who has ever attended Hypericon can attest, she knew how to throw one hell of a party. More importantly, she loved and supported her husband. My favorite memory of her is, incidentally, the last time I saw her, when she helped myself and several other authors arrange to purchase the original cover art for Bryan's first limited edition hardcover novel as a surprise for him. All authors should be so lucky to have as supportive a partner as Rachael was.

The Keenedom Open House
For a brief trial period, unregistered users will be able to view The Keenedom forum. You will still have to register if you wish to comment, vote in a poll, etc. It is our belief that after you've visited the forum and seen the distinct lack of spam and trolls, and the vibrant discussions taking place in their stead, that you'll decide to register and become a member. Also, if you are someone who was previously banned due to a rules infraction, we'll be offering an amnesty program (but not until Val and I get back from WHC, and Dezm gets back from Mo*Con, and Brandon and Noigeloverlord get back from re-enacting Smokey & The Bandit).

#1 with a bullet… and zombies
My foreign rights agent and all-around-super-heroine Betty writes: "Just thought you would like to know that Auferstehung (The Rising) is #1 on Amazon Germany's bestseller list for horror." Thanks to all of my readers in Germany for making this happen. It is my sincere hope that I make it over there next year for a signing and to meet all of you.
ENTOMBED – Final Notice
I gave you this advance notice. This is a final notice. The book goes on sale soon.

Laird Barron introduced us to the Criggers, and for an encore, he swept the Shirley Jackson Award nominations. Xander Harris released an album inspired by Urban Gothic. And The Keenedom was hopping!
