THE STALL

The stall poster final New

THE STALL is an new apocalyptic Lovecraftian short film from Reel Splatter Productions. I have a cameo in it, playing a radio disc jockey.

You can watch the film for free on YouTube.

If you enjoy THE STALL, you might consider buying a copy of Reel Splatter’s SUBURBAN HOLOCAUST on DVD, in which I also play several roles.

“On the 7th day we rise…”

OVERVIEW, the new album from Maryland-based hip-hop artist Dot-com Intelligence, contains a track called “The Rising”, inspired by a certain novel you’ve probably read.

PULP KING

Yesterday, Wisconsin’s NPR interviewed Becky Spratford, author of the READER’S ADVISORY GUIDE TO HORROR. While discussing horror fiction, author Scott Falkner called in to offer an enthusiastic overview of my work. This led to Becky acknowledging the impact of THE RISING on pop culture, professing her love of CASTAWAYS, and proclaiming me at the top of the list of “The Pulp Kings”. And given my love of pulps, that is, quite simply, my favorite press blurb of all time. You can listen to it here (the segment pertaining to me starts at the 35:20 mark). Sincere thanks to Becky, and props to Scott for getting the conversation started. You can buy Scott’s books here and you can buy Becky’s book here.

Like KILL WHITEY

The Top 12 Projects in the Make My Horror Movie contest are announced later this week. We’d like the film adaptation of my novel KILL WHITEY to be one of them, but the only way that will happen is if you folks come through. Please visit the project page and click ‘Like’ in the upper right hand corner. It’s that simple. It doesn’t cost anything, you don’t have to register for anything. All you have to do is click a button.

A lot of folks said they couldn’t back THE CAGE Kickstarter because of finances. All you’re being asked to do this time is click a button. If you can’t take two seconds out of your day to do that, then you really shouldn’t be asking me, “Why don’t they make more movies from your books?”

Buy a Book, Help Steve Niles

You’ve probably heard about the flood that impacted my friend Steve Niles and his wife, Monica. The damage was catastrophic, and they’ve lost a lot. A number of writers and artists , the proceeds of which (minus eBay fees) will go to Steve and Monica. I don’t have anything to donate because I recently liquidated my stack of comp copies, so instead, I’ll donate 100% of all October sales for THE GIRL ON THE GLIDER,  ALONE, and SCRATCH to Steve and Monica. Why only these books? Because unlike the rest of my backlist, these three are self-published, which means a) I get paid for them quicker, and b) they are easier to track sales figures for. If you already own these titles, please consider bidding on one of the auction items.

THE GIRL ON THE GLIDERKindle - Nook - Kobo

ALONE: KindleNookKobo

SCRATCH: KindleNookKobo

And no, the irony of donating the sales from a novella about a comic book artist dealing with the aftermath of a flood (SCRATCH) to a comic book writer dealing with the aftermath of a flood is not lost on me. You don’t need to point it out.

Come Twice This Weekend

To these signings, of course. What did you think I meant?

This Saturday, October 19th, join me, Mary SanGiovanni, Kevin Lucia, K.H. Koehler, Ron Breznay, Lorne Dixon, and John Koloski from 2pm until 5pm at Barnes & Noble, 421 Arena Hub Plaza, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702. I’ve written at length about why this is such an important signing. If you live in the Tri-State area, and you are free, I hope you’ll come out. You are welcome to bring books from home to be signed, but since this particular signing is so crucial to B&N (see the link above), I’m going to ask that you purchase at least one book from the store, as well.

Then, this Sunday, October 20th, J.F. Gonzalez and I are signing from 1pm to 4pm at The Comic Store, 28 E Mcgovern Ave, Lancaster, PA 17602. Again, you are welcome to bring books from home to get signed, but we ask that you purchase at least one book or comic from the venue.
