Pompomberry House

Hello all, I’ve been on holiday to Paris so I’ve been a bit absent of late, mostly due to all the vin-rouge I’ve been drinking, well, when in Rome.. Blog post to follow about my French adventure. Meanwhile, the great Rosen Trevithick has released her novel ‘Pompomberry House’ which looks like it is going to be a highly entertaining read. Rosen kindly gave me access to one of the characters in the novel, ‘Monty’ author of the crime series, ‘I Shot Six/Five/Four/etc Men’. He sounds like a sterl...

Equal Sequel

What have Aliens, The Good Bad and the Ugly, The Empire Strikes Back, Godfather II and Henry V have in common?  The last two should give you a clue, seeing as they have numbers after them, and as far as I know there isn’t a Henry 1, 2, or 3rd out on DVD.  Although there is the Henry IV parts 1 and 2 and the three parts of Henry VI which were written before the Henry the 4ths, which isn’t at all confusing.  God knows what would have happened if the Godfather II would have taken...

Broken Fairytales

This week I welcome back the glorious sisters of darkness, C L Raven, as they launch their second book ‘Disenchanted’ on Amazon.  I’ve already downloaded my copy and really enjoying their twisted fairy tales and recommend you do too!
The second we get bored, we start looking for things to do and these usually involve mischief. So after we released ‘Gunning Down Romance’ in February, we were not only bitten by the whole indie writer bug, we were pinned down and pulverised by it. Unfortunat...

Author, Write Thyself

There’s an idiot in the village.  Every village has one and the Fens are no exception.  Unfortunately, this time, that idiot might be me.  You see, I have moved into a new flat which means that I’m able to walk to work for the first time in ten years.  This is brilliant because I don’t have to donate an internal organ every time I fill up the petrol tank – take that you thieving petrol tax trolls – and I can protect the little furry animals in the environment by not taking...

Beautiful Bloggers

It was with great pleasure this week that I was nominated by the gloriously gothic duo C L Raven as one of their beautiful bloggers. I was well chuffed. Well I hope my blog has given people a few titters (ooh err!) and now in response, I shall offer my top seven beautiful bloggers and seven facts about myself.

Seven Facts You Didn’t Know About Me

Trimming Off The Fat

Now dear readers, I’m going to paint a descriptive martial arts picture for you and then make a tenuous link with writing.  Bear with me, it will make sense in the end.
I recently had my first live MMA experience.  For those who don’t know, it stands for ‘Mixed Martial Arts’ or cage fighting.  This involves men (and sometimes women) getting into an octagon shaped ring and then beating the crap out of each other.  Now for you middle-class liberal types, you may be a bi...

Sun, Sea and Kindles

The sun is out, the weekend is here and I've got a cocktail in my hand.  It's guest post time and this week we have the lovely Lacey Dearie, author of #1 best seller 'The Tangled Web.'  She tells us the advantages of being an indie author, take it away Lacey...

Hi!  I'm Lacey, L K's friend from Ayrshire.  Thanks to L K for allowing me to ramble here.  And best of luck to her with her new novel, ‘The Policeman Who Was Afraid of The Dark.’  I hop...

Don't Give Up the Day Job

Shh!  I’m going to talk about something unmentionable.  It’s something we all have to do it but we don’t really like to talk about it.  Is it the washing up?  No, that’s what dishwashers are for.  Is it going to the toilet?  No, poo is a perfectly acceptable topic for conversation, particularly when you are British and drunk.  Is it sex?  Of course it’s bloody not.  Erotica is a massive seller on Amazon, although I’m not entirely sure that Fifty Sh...

Stop in the Name of Sense!

It's guest blog time and Sean Campbell from 90daysnovel and co-author of crime thriller 'Dead on Demand' gives us some tips on how to avoid a logical balls-up in the plots of our novels.  Take it away Sean!

Hello!  I'm Sean, half of the writing duo behind 90daysnovel.com
L K has very kindly agreed to let me guest post here today, and I'd like to make an argument that a good story needs a logical plot.  If a reader can't follow, or something doesn't make sense it's jarring and it...

The Stamp Of Disapproval

It appears that the stamp collecting fraternity of America are not happy with me.  I think I’ve really pissed them off.  I may well have a stamp-collectors’ fatwa issued although what they’ll do when they track me down is anyone’s guess.  Lick me to death probably; I’m sure there’s worse ways to die.
What have I done to induce their ire?  It’s all about my short story ‘Two Penny Blue’.  Now for those who are not familiar with the world of philately, a Two Penny Blue st...
