Just for Love, Just for You, Chinese Designer Lan Yu Launches Evening Gown Collection to Global Audience

Lan Yu, founder of LANYU brand

NEW YORK, Dec. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Having won brand recognition and popularity in Paris, designerLan Yu recently made another grand move to elevate her business to a global scale through announcing the birth of LANYU evening gown collections in the New York City. It coincides with the brand’s 11th anniversary and marks another significant step up of this young entrepreneur brand.

Featuring southeastern China Suzhou embroidery, the brand ingeniously combines eastern handcraft techniques with western materials and design, and it was well–received even by the trained eyes of fashion followers in Paris.

In July 2014, Lan Yu released her “Water–Charm” collection at Grand Palais in Paris, and she has kept going back with two other collections of hers, “Butterfly–Scent” and “Glimpses.” Her remarkable work in fusion between Chinese traditional artisan and modern design was featured by fashion guidebook L’officiel magazine.

“Fashion is without borders. I started my career in China, but I have always believed that one day I would bring LANYU onto the global stage, and that Chinese traditional handcraft will be appreciated. Today I have realized my dream,” said Lan Yu, who named the brand after herself.

Her inspiration stems from her personal experience. With her mother being the fourth generation in her family to practice traditional Suzhou embroidery craftsmanship, Lan Yu grew up with silk and fine embroidery techniques that have been passed down for over 2,000 years. She set up her fashion studio while she was studying at Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, and the LANYU brand was officially born after she returned from further education in the U.S, where her aesthetic taste was enriched by international concepts.

Lan Yu’s success began with the popularity of her haute couture wedding dresses among celebrities and later on red carpet gowns. However, “in a woman’s life, there are many more shining moments than just the wedding. I want to help them grab those moments, realize their dreams as I did and shine,” explained Lan Yuabout her decision in broadening the brands’ offerings.

Being a successful female entrepreneur, Lan Yu is a strong advocate of empowering women. Besides regular donations to female students from poor families in remote areas in China, Lan Yu is sponsoring several start-up initiatives for fresh college graduates. Valuing Suzhou embroidery as a rare and unique technique, Lan Yu hasdesigned Embroidery Workshop Project 020 to teach impoverished mothers how to make fine embroideries.

Currently, the brand is also working with world famous big names such as Roll Royce, BVLGARI, LONGINES, SONY and others.

Suzhou embroidery was one of the first embroidery styles to be developed in China. It is a style characterized by brightly colored silk embroidered with well-proportioned and uncluttered representations of almost any pastoral scene, person, animal or object. Suzhou embroidery is on China’s non-material cultural heritage list.

Lan Yu’s evening gowns are available in shops in Beijing and Shanghai, and online at WeChat Official Account: LANYU. You can also take a look at her past collections and works at http://www.lanyu.co.

Outlander season 2. Caitriona Balfe’s last photo in the streets of Paris

Outlander season 2. Caitriona Balfe as Claire Fraser in Paris

Outlander season 2. Caitriona Balfe as Claire Fraser in Paris

Caitriona Balfe always rocks! Outlander season 2 is coming and everybody wants to know more about our favorite actors. Caitriona Balfe playing the role as Claire is elegant, clever and brave. Of course, Sam Heughan playing as Scottish warrior Jamie Fraser is also brave and incredible sexy.

Now, both of them are in Paris, fleeing the persecution of the Redcoats, especially of psycho Black Jack (Tobias Menzies), and trying to prevent the Jacobite rising of 1745. Then, the attempt by Charles Edward Stuart to regain the British throne for the exiled House of Stuart, and the tragic consequences for the Highlands that Claire knows very well.

“The Scottish Highlands are incredible. There seems to be magic and poetry everywhere.” Caitriona Balfe.

She is the only one who can be reasonable because she knows the future. What can she do? For the moment, it seems she is trying to be active (even she is pregnant) and speak with every important person of that old and dangerous world.

We have a new photo of the upcoming season. Today, get a sneak peek of our beloved Claire Fraser strolling through a street in Paris. It’s in a new Starz picture from Outlander season 2. What do you think? Isn’t she elegant? I love her new look! And you?

What do you expect from Outlander season 2? Tell us your opinion now!

“Working on ‘Outlander’ has been a delight, it really has. I had kind of forgotten what Scotland was like, and I’d turned into a bit of a Londoner.” Sam Heughan.

Outlander season 2 is expected to return on the small screen next year. Probably in spring. We cannot wait for it!

Enjoy your day, Yareah friends. Art is everywhere and up to you! Merry Christmas!

Outlander and Christmas. What would Claire give to Jamie these holy days?

Outlander. Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan)

Outlander and Christmas. Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan)

Outlander and Christmas. Although the Starz drama has been on for just one season (Season 2 is in production), the TV show has a massive following and also, the books series started over 20 years ago. Then, fans know very well the personality of Scottish warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and his pretty and brave wife Claire (Caitriona Balfe), and they like to figure out their lives at any time. For example, on Christmas. What would they do? How would they celebrate these days? What would Claire give to James?

It seems they have a ‘peculiar’ religion. A mix of Christian and Celtics beliefs because the druid world forms part of their realities. Then, a Christmas tree could fit both views. Oaks, willows, and other holy trees were important in Celtic religion and the Christmas tree is incorporated to Christianity. Do you imagine them decorating a tree or hanging some socks full of candies on the chimney? For sure!

But now, since they are in France and they will be parents, how about a baby crib? Jamie is a skilled man, and will make a lovely wooden crib? Claire will be happy!

And Claire? She is a sweet and clever woman, her top gift is Jamie’s baby, but she would like to make a present for him. How about an embroidered handkerchief? Now, in Paris and Versailles, in the elegant Court of Louis XV of France, every smart detail is important and Jamie is the sexiest man!

Do you have other ideas? Tell us your opinion now!

Merry Christmas, Yareah friends. Art is everywhere and up to you!

I showed up in L.A. with $500 and a backpack and I stayed at a shelter, so nobody handed me anything. I worked for every single thing that I have.

Jared Leto

He’s an innocent in a lot of ways. He’s a very simple person who really doesn’t have the resources or the strength, ultimately, to handle the situation.

Jared Leto

And today is also the birthday of the rock singer, Andy Biersack, who was the lead singer of the band Black Veil Brides. Happy birthday, Andy Biersack!

“Life isn’t about how popular…What girl or boy you are dating or who you know. Life is about always being true to who you are or what you believe in. Never let any-one convince you that their way is better than your way. In the end all we have are our hearts…and our minds. This is the reason we sing..this is the reason we cry….this is why we live.”

Andy Biersack

More famous birthdays today, December 26: the rapper known as Prodigy, born Craig Crippen; the beautiful and great singer Jade Thirlwall, member of the popular group Little Mix; and Natalie Nunn, reality star.

Happy birthday to all of them. Have a very nice day, dear friends.

Star Wars 7 is below records! Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are unbeatable

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in Eclipse

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in Eclipse

The seventh episode of Star Wars wants to reach the largest possible number of theaters to beat a record, but actors Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson conquered the world with the third Twilight movie and are still unbeatable.

Yes, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), and the Twilight saga are a benchmark of a series of films that managed to haunt public. Both actors are now working in independent movies but they don’t regret their past: the most famous vampires in film history.

“Usually, at the end of a film it’s like I’ve finally gotten to know this person completely, and then we’re done. That actually happened on the set of ‘Twilight,’ and then it happened again on ‘New Moon.’ Each time my character Bella became a different person, and I got to know that person and take her to the next level.” Kristen Stewart.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

The third Twilight movie reached about 4,400 theaters on its opening day in 2010 while Han Solo and company were only seen in about 4.100 cinemas. This difference of 300 cinemas is quite remarkable because Eclipse left the bar very high for other franchises that were to come.

Anyway, Star Wars is released in the winter season, while Twilight released his third film in summer, and Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson had the advantage of returning to the big screen in a time that normally achieve better results.

** Remember: Eclipse scored the biggest Wednesday opening in the United States and Canada history with $68,533,840 beating Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’s $62 million. Furthermore, it has become the movie with the widest independent release, playing in over 4,416 theaters, surpassing its predecessor, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, which held the record since November 2009.

What do you think? Have you ever seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Tell us your opinion now!

Enjoy your day, Yareah friends. Art is everywhere and up to you!

Owais Husain Joins Arts Festival PUBLICA in New Delhi

Owais Husain

Owais Husain

Contemporary Indian artist Owais Husain has been announced as the latest participant to be added to the prestigious roster of artists exhibiting in the public arts festival PUBLICA (23 January – 29 February 2016). After the resounding success of the 2013 edition, PUBLICA returns to Delhi in 2016 in a bigger, more engaging and more international form. The idea of the festival is to remove artworks from their limiting traditional setting of museums and galleries and put them in view of broader audiences to try and drive engagement in the arts and promote cultural change at grass roots.

Ahead of the festival and as part of his on-going commitment to fostering creativity in the next generation, Husain will be holding a workshop for the students of the International Institute of Fine Arts in Modi Nagar from 5 – 7 January 2016, focusing on their shared commitment to increasing engagement in the arts.

The project, House of Cards, typifies the artist’s contemporary outlook, in which he helps the next generation to create a personal narrative, or mythology, through the practice of art. The initiative will explore the idea of homeland and mapping identity through the continually changing landscape of visual language. In this way, Husain encourages students to think about identity and the role of image making in all forms, inspiring them to explore in greater depth the personal context in their work. The resulting images will be incorporated into panels designed by Husain, the house, creating a visual dialogue between one generation and the next.

The workshop is the second in a series of international workshops, the first of which was held at LASALLE College of the Arts (South East Asia’s foremost arts institute) with subsequent iterations planned for South Africa and Mexico. The artistic process of the House of Cards workshops is documented and the resulting images created by the students will be exhibited alongside Husain’s own work. Proceeds from the exhibition will be reinvested in the form of a scholarship at each art school, extending the workshop’s legacy and providing further artistic opportunities for future generations.

· 5 – 7 January 2016, House of Cards workshop, International Institute of Fine Arts, Modinagar.

· 23 January – 29 February 2016, PUBLICA, New Delhi.

· 29 January – 18 February 2016, House of Cards, Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore.

On Christmas Day, remember Pope Francis speaking about peace and unity

Christmas Day and Pope Francis

Christmas Day and Pope Francis

On Christmas Day, remember Pope Francis’ recent words about peace and unity to end atrocities caused by terrorism. As always, a wise message.

It’s the third Christmas Day that we listen to Pope Francis reading the traditional “Urbi et Orbi” address from the central balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica. What did he say? Of course, he calls for an end to the civil wars in Syria and Libya: “May the attention of the international community be unanimously directed to ending the atrocities which in those countries, as well as in Iraq, Yemen and sub-Saharan Africa, even now reap numerous victims, cause immense suffering and do not even spare the historical and cultural patrimony of entire peoples.”

Also, he was clearly referring to brutal terrorism including the November 13 attacks, and the downing of a Russian plane over Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula: “Only God’s mercy can free humanity from the many forms of evil, at times monstrous evil, which selfishness spawns in our midst,” he said. “The grace of God can convert hearts and offer mankind a way out of humanly insoluble situations.”

And he called for peace and asked God to bring consolation and strength to Christians who are being persecuted around the world Francis said the human dignity of far too many people around the world: “Even today great numbers of men and women are deprived of their human dignity and, like the child Jesus, suffer cold, poverty, and rejection.”

Of course, Yareah quote of the day is by Pope Francis and his message of peace and solidarity. What do you think? Tell us your opinion now!

“May our closeness today be felt by those who are most vulnerable, especially child soldiers, women who suffer violence, and the victims of human trafficking and the drug trade.”

Enjoy your day, Yareah friends. Art is everywhere and up to you. Merry Christmas!
