The most difficult thing about painting is the self-discipline. When I finish a job, I give myself a few days, but then I have to discipline myself quite fiercely if I want to do some painting that’s worthwhile. Otherwise, you’re just doodling. It’s much easier when you’re just told what you have to do.

John Hurt

I think love can be really tough. Because it involves ultimately an honesty to the nth degree that you are capable of. Once said, you’ve lost your deposit. It’s best if you don’t say it.

More birthdays today, January 22: Ricky Garcia, pop singer who became known for his appearance on The X Factor, born in Puerto Rico in 1999; the rapper known as Silento, born in Atlanta; and Guy Fieri, chef.

The X-Files is coming! Mulder and Scully are knocking on the door!

The X-Files was the longest-running science fiction series in U.S. television history. The show spanned nine seasons and 202 episodes from September 10, 1993, to May 19, 2002, on Fox. Great! In March 2015, it was announced that the show would return as a miniseries, with David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Annabeth Gish, William B. Davis and Mitch Pileggi reprising their roles. Fans and followers are excited! It will premiere on January 24, 2016! Be happy! Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are coming!

The X-Files 2016

The X-Files 2016

The first episode is titled ‘My Struggle’ (the English translation of Hitler’s manifesto, ‘Mein Kampf’). We’ll see that Scully’s still in medicine, and that she and Mulder have broken off their romantic relation. In fact, Mulder is living in a cabin in the woods, and the old X-Files office in the FBI building’s basement has Mulder’s ‘I Want to Believe’ poster on the dusty floor. What will happen next? What do you expect from The X-Files?

According to Chris Carter, only the first and sixth episodes are heavy on conspiracy mythology. The second episode, directed and written by James Wong, is a welcome step up from the first. And the third (only three were made available for screening), is a comic horror episode by Darin Morgan.

The six episodes were filmed in Vancouver, B.C.

The X-Files official trailer.

The X-Files six-episode miniseries debuts Sunday, Jan. 24 on Fox (12.) It’s scheduled to start at 7 p.m., following the NFC championship game. The show moves to its regular 8 p.m. time slot Monday, Jan. 25.

** The X-Files follows the careers and personal lives of FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson). Mulder is a strong believer in the supernatural while Scully is skeptic.

Enjoy your day, Yareah friends. Art is everywhere and up to you!

Jessica Jones TV show. Krysten Ritter and Rachael Taylor speak about style

Jessica Jones TV show is trend! Everybody loves this series and especially, actress Krysten Ritter playing the role as Jessica, a superhero who opens her own detective agency in New York City. She’s very rough around the edges, and dry and sarcastic too. She is pretty but doesn’t worry about her look.

Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones (Netflix)

Meanwhile, Rachael Taylor plays as Patricia “Trish” Walker, a former model and child star known as Patsy, who is Jones’ adoptive sister and best friend. She works as a radio host now and always wears beautiful designs.

However, how about the actresses? What do they think about style? Listen to them! Yareah quotes of the day are by Ritter and Taylor.

Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones (Netflix)

Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones (Netflix)

“In terms of style I typically veer toward a certain masculinity. My style inspirations range from images of my father in his 1970s suits, to Tilda Swinton, to Hugh Hefner, to Sharon Stone and her ferocious sexuality, to handsome men I see on the streets of New York.” Rachael Taylor.

Krysten Ritter was a former model. Then, she is very concern about style. A beautiful girl!

“I like to be stylish and edgy, but also low maintenance.” Krysten Ritter.

**Marvel’s Jessica Jones is an American web television series created for Netflix by Melissa Rosenberg, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. All episodes of the first season premiered on November 20, 2015, and they were an immediate success. In January 2016, Netflix renewed the show for a second season. Great!

What do you expect from Jessica Jones season 2? Tell us your opinion now!

“Jessica Jones is based on a much more adult comic. The source material came that way. She has real problems with a number of things that she abuses! And we’re not shying away from that. There’s no tidying her up.” Jeph Loeb.

Enjoy your day, Yareah friends. Art is everywhere and up to you!

Aberdeen Family Ceilidh Raises £2,000 for Vasculitis Charity

Grant Currie

Grant Currie

The Lauren Currie Twilight Foundation has raised £2,000 atThe Wee Black & Red Family Ceilidh, which was held at the Marriott Hotel, Dyce, Aberdeen AB21 7AZ on the evening of Saturday 16 January.

The event included a champagne reception, three course meal, raffle and auction, plus the ceilidh itself. All proceeds will go towards the charity’s objectives: raising awareness of vasculitis, educating medical professionals on how to diagnose it and researching this rare condition.

Some of the money raised by the ceilidh will go towards vasculitis research at the University of Aberdeen, under the leadership of Dr Neil Basu.

To date, the charity has given £62,000 to the university, which has been used to support a three-year PhD research project on vasculitis, alongside a patient support group in the city.

Grant Currie, co-founder of the charity, said, “One shocking thing about vasculitis is that so little is known about it.

“We have a public awareness programme that aims to educate both the general public and medical professionals, but our support of vasculitis research is completely vital.

“Aberdeen is the home of LCTF research and due to the leading researchers and experts in the city it is where the majority of our research funding is spent. We also sponsored the Scottish Society for Rheumatology Conference in October, which was held in the city.

“For that reason, Aberdeen is really important to the Lauren Currie Twilight Foundation, and it was fantastic to meet so many supporters from the area. We are so grateful to all who attended – without our supporters, everything that we’ve achieved in the last five years would have been impossible.”

The Lauren Currie Twilight Foundation was set up by Grant and Adrienne Currie following the tragic death of their 15-year old daughter and only child Lauren in 2010. Lauren had suffered from Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (formerly known as Wegener’s Granulomatosis), a variant of the auto-immune disease vasculitis.

Lauren’s condition was only diagnosed in the final hours of her life and her parents realised that, with earlier diagnosis, her life could have been saved.

Because vasculitis is uncommon and early diagnosis is an important factor in the effectiveness of medical care, public awareness of the condition is one of the charity’s main objectives.

As well as educating the general public, the charity educates medical professionals on how to spot and diagnose the disease.

Vasculitis refers to an inflammation of the blood vessels. It is an uncommon illness and different variations can affect people of different ages.

The Lauren Currie Twilight Foundation aims to raise the international profile of vasculitis, and is one of only two vasculitis-specific charities operating in the UK. It is keen to collaborate with other relevant charities, including those in the US.

The Lauren Currie Twilight Foundation has produced a video explaining the condition, which can be foundhere.

Masters Week 2016 at Sotheby’s New York

NEW YORK, 19 January 2016 – Sotheby’s annual Masters Week auctions in New York will be held from 27 – 30 January 2016. This exciting auction series features rare and important European paintings, drawings, and sculpture dating from the 14th through the 19th centuries, including Orazio Gentileschi’s Danaë, one of the most important Baroque masterpieces left in private hands, and two very special private collection sales:  The Collection of A. Alfred Taubman and The Road to Rome. The Masters Week exhibitions open 22 January in Sotheby’s York Avenue galleries.

THE COLLECTION OF A. ALFRED TAUBMAN: OLD MASTERS

27 January 2016, 6:00 PM

Mr. Taubman’s remarkable collection of Old Masters includes rare pieces by two of the most iconic names in the history of art: Raphael, whose small Portrait of Valerio Belli, Bust Length, Facing Left (estimate: $2/3 million) — one of the last of his paintings remaining in private hands — is  unique in the artist’s oeuvre as the only known profile bust representation, and Dürer, whose Christ Being Nailed To The Cross (estimate: $1/1.5 million) is related to his important series of drawings known as the Green Passion. Mr. Taubman’s collection also offers one of the strongest groups of Baroque works in private hands, led by Valentin de Boulogne’s The Crowning With Thorns (estimate: $1.5/2 million), as well as a number of classic 18th century British pictures, featuring Thomas Gainsborough’s The Blue Page (estimate: $3/4 million).

MASTER DRAWINGS

28 January 2016, 10:00 AM

Sotheby’s 28 January sale of Master Drawings offers a strong selection of Italian drawings, led by Giandomenico Tiepolo’s The Country School (estimate: $600/800,000) from his famous series of scenes from the life of ‘Punchinello.’ The auction also features: newly-discovered drawings by 17th-century Dutch masters Jacob van Ruisdael and Dirck Helmbreeker; major British works by William Blake and J.M.W. Turner; a series of studies by Ingres; a portrait of Jean-Claude Gaspard de Sireul (estimate: $120/180,000) by François Boucherand; and Guercino’s masterly red-chalk Study of a Baby in a Basket (estimate: $60/80,000) — one of an outstanding group of four drawings by the artist.

THE ROAD TO ROME: A DISTINGUISHED ITALIAN PRIVATE COLLECTION, PART I

28 January 2016, 2:00 PM

The Road to Rome: A Distinguished Italian Private Collection, Part I comprises 35 view and portrait paintings that display a splendid overview of ‘Grand Tour’ taste. Throughout the 18th-century, young aristocrats partook in the Grand Tour, visiting Italian cities including Venice, Naples and Rome as the culmination of their academic studies. Inspired by their voyages, many of these travelers developed an interest in art, sitting for some of the great portrait painters of the time and immortalizing their adventures by purchasing breathtaking view paintings. Many of the great artistic talents of the time including Vanvitelli, Bellotto, the Van Lint family, Hackert and Caffi directly benefited from the patronage of these Grand Tourists, and paintings by them will be highlights of the auction.

MASTER PAINTINGS EVENING SALE

28 January 2016, 6:00 PM

Orazio Gentileschi’s superb Danaë (estimate: $25/35 million) will lead the Master Paintings Evening Sale on 28 January. This undisputed masterpiece is one of the most important Italian Baroque paintings to come to market since World War II. Sotheby’s invited Pamela Romanowsky, writer and director of The Adderall Diaries, to create a film inspired by the work resulting in a beautiful and modern interpretation. View her film here: Reimagining Gentileschi’s Danaë.

In addition, the evening sale offers paintings by an impressive list of iconic artists: Sir Peter Paul Rubens, Lucas Cranach the Elder, Pieter Jansz. Saenredam, Sandro Botticelli, Eustache Le Sueur and Jacob Jordaens, whose St. Martin Healing a Possessed Man (estimate: $4/6 million) is one of the most exciting Flemish Baroque rediscoveries in decades. Further highlights include Canaletto’s An Interior View of The Henry VII Chapel, Westminster Abbey (estimate: $5/8 million), dating from the early 1750s, which depicts an remarkable view of Henry VII’s chapel in Westminster Abbey — one of the artist’s rare works of an interior.
