The Dreaded "Rut" ...

As far as sayings go, this one pretty much covers it.
Grrrr! How I hate this place with a fervent passion. It's like pulling teeth slowly without an anesthetic.

Cool News

Truth is, the last week or so have been interesting. Both in day to day life, as well as, in a professional sense. And, while I refuse to get into the personal aspect of things, I have some really cool news regarding my writing career. So, in the last few weeks I met this cool guy named Anthony Marchio . We instantly became really good friends as we share a love for writing and the creative arts. Anthony is a filmmaker, screenwriter and producer and owns his own company called Marchio Productions . Well, as things would have it, Anthony and I started sharing our art with each other.
As you probably already know, I love sharing my art with people.
So, I gifted him a copy of " Dimensions of Literary Seduction " just because. And, wouldn't you know it, Anthony fell in love with my writing style. Which to me was incredibly flattering and humbling. After all, HE is the professional, if you will.Through conversation Anthony states that he would love to turn " The G Particle " into a short film as he can really see that story as something special. He said that reading it was like watching a movie and he could imagine it on film. Fast forward a very long conversation, Anthony and I agreed to turn " The G Particle " into a short film under his production agency. Filming starts this summer. Woot!I was like ...
Hell-to-the-yeah!

About "Dimensions of Literary Seduction"

I was thinking about " Dimensions of Literary Seduction " and which of the stories is my favorite. I often get asked which one of my stories out of everything I have written throughout the years is my favorite. Asking an author said question is like asking a parent which one of their kids is their favorite. It's impossible to choose. But, I will say that I am inclined to "prefer" (using the term loosely) one story over others. Not because it is my favorite per say, but because of the premise of the story.Contrary to what people might think, my most esteemed story among the collection would have to be the shortest, " The G Particle ".Here is why ...

In order to best explain my answer I suppose I would have to rewind the clock about 5 years.

The thing the precipitated the writing of " The G Particle " was a dare between a small group of authors and myself to write a Micro-Short story (also known as Flash Fiction) with a sense of depth in less than 500 words. While the version that you will see today in " Dimensions of Literary Seduction " is a bit longer, believe it or not, the original story totaled 499 words.
Truth be told, I have gotten a mix of good and bad reviews about " The G Particle ". And, while I appreciate both views, I am inclined to believe that the bad ones come from the fact that some people cannot understand the concept of a Micro-Short.Micro-Short stories are meant to make you think, nothing more and nothing less. In contrast to full length short stories, novellas/novelettes and full length novels, the micro-short is an altogether different entity.
The notion of " The G Particle " came to me from 3 places:
(1) The question, "What is the meaning of life?"(2) My love for Science Fiction(3) The query of how the Universe is intertwined.
Thus, the idea of a Computer Programmer with an apparently "boring" life was born.In come G.
G is very much your average guy. He works, questions the Universe, in fascinated by seemingly inconsequential things, comes home and does it all over again every day. Nothing in G's life seems to have any meaning or purpose. So, he speculates. It's the only thing that satiates his need to know. More so, to connect to something bigger. But, as luck would have it, G can't seem to find that sense of belonging or nexus.G, to me, represents the larger populous ... we all need to feel a sense of connection to someone or something. Whether it be the Universe, a person, family or even nature, we all want to belong to something greater. It's the link that binds us.In " The G Particle ", however, I use the Higgs Boson, better known as "The God Particle" to make the ultimate connection between man and God. But, I also leave the story open for interpretation at the end.Personally, in my mind's eye, I like to image the Multiple Mirror System as the sum of the story.

This idea poses the question, "Who is the Creator and who is the Created?" It's makes for a fascinating theory. The ideology that the Universe is a continuum; a string of Creator and Created, never to cease or be discovered in absolution. It is this reason why " The G Particle " is such a fascinating story to me. On the surface, it doesn't seem like much of anything, but at its core " The G Particle " asks the questions, "Who is the true manipulator at the string of our lives? Is it our choices, or something else entirely?"
Well, there you have it, folks. My answer to the aforementioned question, "Which is my favorite story in ' Dimensions of Literary Seduction '?"

Now ...

Excerpts:The G Particle
G was fascinated with the way the little people which he created moved around unaware that he was the manipulator at the controls of their lives. He the master and they the puppets. As G swiveled the mouse back and forth, he watched attentively as the avatars came alive. He was fascinated by it all. These things always reminded G of the complex things in life. As he fiddled with the little people of his own formation G speculated about love, science, religion, and things of the sort. Being the nerd that he was, the unexplained always intrigued him. Especially, the thought of God and the discovery of the god particle.
Genomegenics
The announcer’s voice blared loudly through the speakers of the virtual reality billboard. 3D images of him bounced off its pavement and sprang to life. His movements seemed so real that anyone could easily mistake the digital reality for a real person. The announcer’s hair was slicked back and dark, held by a bit too much hair-gel and he wore a notably expensive Armani suit. A wink and a brilliant smile with a twinkling tooth preceded the announcement. Some of the passersby stopped to look, others ignored the billboard altogether.
Are you tired of being normal? Tired of always fitting in? Tired of being just another jellybean in the bag? Are you sick of not being pretty enough, smart enough or strong enough?
Try Genomegenics. Our specialized laboratories can not only make your dream of being extraordinary come true, but they can make it happen without the need of cloning or rebirth.
What is a genome after all, if not a cell that can be moved or replaced?
Then don’t wait any longer. Genomegenics is waiting for you!
The narrator put special emphasis on the word Genomegenics, his inflection sing-song.
Exchange that high blood pressure for high cheek bones. Change that nearsightedness to super-sight. Trade out that mediocre brain of yours for nothing short of Einstein’s. In a matter of minutes, you can go from drab to fab! All it takes is a simple call … Better yet, a visit to Genomegenics!
Camielle's Lights
Wispy ringlets danced in the sky in a million different colors—some unrecognizable. Soft blue and majestic puffy cotton-balls filled the space behind it. A backdrop of celestial azure with a rainbow of circles aplenty curtaining atop. A single sphere of bright light swayed to and fro above it. A luminescent orb with a life of its own.
Eyes lucidly followed the orb and gazes became hypnotized by the labyrinthine magic of the lights. What was it? Never in written history did anyone ever witness the likes of this, and never would they in years to come. A once in a lifetime event for those lucky enough to see its splendor.
Camielle wasn't paying much mind to the lights like everyone else; her mind was fixed on the multitudes' reactions to the unknown. While some were amazed and enamored by the lights, others watched in fear—the uncharted always caused fear.
Twin Planets
Inside of one configuration in particular grew binary globes. Side by side, blue and green, one larger, one smaller, but both equally pooling with vitality.
The awesomeness of Creation is in the magnificence of its perfection.
In the grand abyss of space and time, among the rotation of a solar system which blossomed from nothing, the Twin Planets rotated around themselves. An axis in precise alignment to one another. As the Twin Planets danced their intergalactic ballet—the larger of the two around the smaller—in conjunction, they also cavorted around the Source. Their brethren of celestial bodies in tow, forming a tail of ripples in the heliocentric system.
From these Twin Planets, Kab and Mangala, emerged existence. On Mangala grew beings with souls and intellect. On Kab grew reptilian gargoyles without understanding, who lived on instinct alone. While the evolution of all things took billions of years to develop, once the Pebble of Creation had completed its excursion, the final outcome was perfection.
A.L.O.M
Even at age thirty-five Vlad still had an affinity for antiquated things, including and not limited to television shows. With the advancements made in this era there was no need for them. The Regal Interweb was now the new fixation of mankind. The king of the Internet. No screen was needed, no CPU. All that was needed was your brain power and a microchip in your watch, and BAM! A screenless, splendor of fluorescent images that floated over your head like an opera of electrical charges, easily manipulated with your mind and fingers.
Vlad was not a fan of such things. One of his favorite things in fact was the long time archived clips of the History Channel's reruns of Ancient Aliens. Still the questions and theories that the show posed so many years ago seemed relevant, and more than that, plausible.
The more he watched the shows, although low quality televised definition—due to the low quality and obsolete nature of HD TV—the more he kept telling himself that they had to be right.
Especially, considering the new archaeological finds. Pieces of metal aviation devices were found hidden deep in the Mayan landscape. When compared, the artifact which resembled a Mayan king flying an aircraft, and the tiny gold airplanes they'd found in the remnants of a Pre-Inca civilization, it was fairly safe to believe that intelligent life had visited humanity in the remote past. Moreover, they’d laid the groundwork for said primitive civilization to survive. As a matter of fact, the engineering utilized to create the aircraft that Vlad and his colleagues were working on came directly from the fragments found.
Alma's Unsung Angel
Father Wind blew with a soft whistle; music was his talent. Such was his gift that if you looked closely you could see it swirling in the space around you. A nearby Sugar Maple tree felt the tickle of his breath and smiled. She loved the feather-like, soft stroke, and the feeling that it provided as it caressed her hard, brown bark.
There was something particularly enticing about this season. Every tree, that was any tree knew this.
People walked by, looking up at her abundant supply of orange, red and yellow leaves, admiring them. Children anxiously waited for them to fall from her old and stern branches so that they could jump in them and play.
To anyone, this would have been your average mid-October morning, had it not been for that single gust from Father Wind, which caused that sole Sugar Maple tree Leaf to come undone from its tethers. The breeze streamed by, titillating the old branch a little more profusely than it would have on any other occasion. It was that teeny, tiny, extra fragment of pressure that cause the resolutely affixed Leaf to dance the scantest bit more than it usually would.
Ryan
So, you know all those sappy romantic comedies that us chicks seem to have a relentless, and dare I say, dangerous, affinity for? Those ones that show the quiet girl who is infatuated with the clueless guy. Yeah. Mhm. That's me.
For the longest time I called bullshit on those apparent misconceptions. I swore that females were not that damn gullible and would never fall for a guy that didn't even know she existed.
Damn, was I wrong!
Now, I'm feeding myself spoonfuls of the bullshit I called on them. Pathologically lying, overdramatic, unspecific, fairytale movies. That’s what I used to call them. Now, I am the main character in the real-life version of one. UGH! Why? Because of Ryan. Perfection in male form.
All right! Let's press the pause button for a minute.
Just because his name is Ryan, and I find him perfect, by no means implies that he's akin to Ryan Gossling or Ryan Reynolds. That's just terrifically unrealistic.
Okay. You may press play.
Loving ... Them!
Clichés.
Hmm. Society's full of them.
Let's see. There's the always coveted “happily ever after.” Then there's “high school sweethearts” and the always great “love at first sight” and the very sentimental “We were meant to be.” Don't forget the great “meant for each other” and the ever famous and magical “We just knew!”
Fantastic. Excuse me while I scratch my throat in sarcasm and choke down the baby vomit. Mm mm.
Clichés. Yeah. Could they be any better? But, that's not real life. Real life isn't anything like that. Not one bit. Real life is totally the opposite—at least for me.

First there was Sam. The church boy raised by the perfect preacher parents. Say that five times fast. The best of examples to everyone, including me. He played the guitar in church, sang, preached, talked, motivated the youth ... Basically, he was a modern-day Moses, or some such nonsense.
Yeah. Mhm. All that.
Just imagine, if you will, the type of guy that every parent wants their daughter to be with. Prim, proper, happy, sweet, helpful to others, the grand inspiration. That was Sam. The absolution of perfection.

Profound Thoughts: February 14, 2018

Hello, y'all.
I have some thoughts sitting on my mind and I need to expel them.
Most people don't know my personal fight with my identity. Apart from my best friend, I don't think I've ever really spoken on it. I have, in the past, talked on my identity as it stands today, but I don't think I've ever really talked about how I got there.Today is that day.

Where to start?

A Summary of 2017--Parts 2 - 4

Parts 2 - 4
Okay, I admit that I've been a little late comin' round the curve. These last couple of weeks have been ... interesting. But, I made it and that's what counts.
Now, since I've made you wait long enough for the next installment, I've opted to just lay them all out in one sitting. I'll keep it as short as humanly possible.

 Part 2
Isn't it funny how the New Year is supposed to be all about new beginnings and a new outlook on life but no matter how "new" everything is supposed to be, the old sort of tales you around like a mad dog?

A Summary of 2017--Part 1

PART 1
If I were to try to sum up 2017 in a few words, I'd say "It was overwhelming".I mean, 2017 caught me by storm in far too many ways. Storms for which I was not prepared. Although, some good came out of the year, the majority was bad. Very bad. I have decided to break this 2017 Summary up into 4 parts.
Part One: Convoluted in love.Part Two: Corrupt in employment.Part Three: Crazy in daily life.Part Four: Complex in emotions.
With that said, there were some moments that defined my year in 2017. Moments that elucidated various things, and in turn, were the catalyst to my mental-emotional ups and downs.Today, I'll share with you the good, the bad and the ugly of Part One of my 2017 Summary.

In order to start my 2017 Summary I have to rewind the clock a bit further to 2016.

At around Christmas 2016 I decided to try out the dating scene one more time. In the transition from 2016 to 2017 I met and went on dates with a few fellows. Said dates amounted to nothing. I also spoke to many guys ... all of that, effete. You see, earlier in 2016 I had met a man (we'll call him J) who I thought was exactly what I wanted and needed. As it turned out, J only wanted ME because I reminded him of the wife he lost to cancer. As unfortunate as that was, I did not plan—nor did I want—to be seen as someone else's replacement. When this came to light, I called that relationship quits. While it was a bit more intricate than that, that was the gist of it.
So, in January 2017 I met another guy.Lord have mercy, was this man FIIIIIINE !We'll call him N.N was, quite literally, an actor and model. But on top of that, N was charismatic, intelligent, sweet, funny and thoughtful. So many great qualities. However, this guy didn't know what he wanted out of a relationship or even if he wanted one to begin with. Furthermore, it was clear that being in a relationship was his last priority. N was too focused on his acting career. Which would have been fine, had he not continually used "relationship language".Things like, "I just want to be with you.", "I miss you.", "I want you.", "I need you.", "You are everything.", "You're the only one for me." so on and so forth. Unfortunately, N's actions didn't match up with his words. Every day he proved how I was pretty low on his totem pole of life. The sad part was that I was really in to this guy. I mean, he had me wrapped around his little finger. But, not for long. I got fed up with being last. I refuse to be strung along vainly. That's the gospel truth. Anyone that knows me, knows that. I have no patience for that type of shit. The way I am set up in relationships is that I don't ask for much. I'm not the needy type or the kind of girl that wants you around all the time. But, I DO NEED TO KNOW that I am your one and only , your first priority (after kids, if you have them) AND that I mean something to you .Suffice it to say that I called it quits. Once again my heart was broken. But, I would much rather have a broken heart than be treated as if I meant nothing.
After that, I dated some guys. Fruitless ventures yet again. It seemed like every guy that I met had their needs, wants and priorities set in places that didn't match up with mine.
One day, among all this turmoil, my best male friend—named A—professed his unending love for me. I realized that yes ... this could be something. And of course I loved him. A was my best male friend for crying out loud. So, I decided to give it a shot even though it would have been a long distance relationship. However, in the process of that I discovered that A may very well be in love with me, but his way of seeing things and approaching a possible relationship with me was " iffy " at best. A couldn't decided what he wanted out of our union if were ever to transpire.Furthermore, A went from being my best guy friend to being a sexual deviant.I was disillusioned, to say the least. It was then that I realized that I had to let him go. FOR ME. I had to end our friendship and potential relationship because HE was a mess and I needed to save myself.
Again, my heart was broken and again I dated. More "going nowhere" type things arose.
Then, I met a guy we'll call W.
W wasn't the god-like man that N was. This by no means implies that I didn't find him attractive, because I do. Very much so.He wasn't my best friend like A was. He wasn't what I thought I wanted and needed like J.W was just a normal guy. Your average Joe, only incredibly handsome although he didn't know it.
