Taming the Wolf Teaser

Picture
As promised, here is a teaser from Taming the Wolf!
Once Wade parked, he hopped out of the SUV and Adam and I followed. Downtown Buffalo could barely be considered a city. Its buildings were small and mostly sold hunting stuff and antiques. Even the theater was tiny with its square roof and bland plastered walls. If it wasn't for the sign announcing what it was, you would have thought it was a warehouse.

"What are we seeing?" No matter how sad the building was, I was excited to see a movie in an actual theater instead of in my living room. I guess that explains how pitiful my life was. Not that I was a social butterfly before becoming a werewolf, but I did have times I'd have fun.

"You choose," Wade said. "But we're not here to have fun. We're here to see how you do sitting in a room with humans. We'll start here and see how you do just being around them and then we'll interact, depending on how well you do."

Great, so I wouldn't be able to enjoy the movie with two pairs of eyes judging my bodily reactions. Maybe I could stuff my face with buttery popcorn and get lost in some hot vampire action so I wouldn't notice being stared at for two hours.

"Fright Night," I said pointing to the poster of Colin Farrell in a tight white tank top. Both Wade and Adam groaned as I began to walk inside the building. I stopped short as a thought came to me. I leaned closer to Wade, cupped a hand in front of my mouth and asked, "Are vampires real?" It seemed likely considering I was living proof werewolves weren't just monsters fairytales are made of.

Wade sucked in a deep breath as if annoyed or pissed. "Yes, they exist."

My eyes shot wide. "Seriously? Have you met any? Are they sexy and mysterious like how the movies and books interpret them?" I couldn't keep the excitement out of my voice.

"Well," Wade said, smiling. "They don't sparkle."

Cupid Painted Blind Free Day

Picture It seems my work isn't done. Stephanie has asked me to post another blog about Cupid Painted Blind being free April 12th. I'm not sure how i feel about my story being read for free, but i'm "fictional" so what can i do, right?

Anyways, getting back to business. All day Thursday, Cupid Painted Blind will be free on Amazon. Come Friday the price goes back up to $2.99 for those without Prime membership. Good thing Stephanie wrote all this down, otherwise i'd have no clue what i'm talking about.

Also, don't forget to check out Christine's website for your chance to win the gift basket! Plus, I'm getting my own Facebook page, whatever that is. Stephanie seemed pretty excited when she told me about it. Gwen will also have one. Please don't get annoyed with her if she is constantly  talking about how much she wants me. The girl can't help it!

Kristana can't escape her intense attraction for the strange giant Langston, but the murmuring voices in her head are threatening to drive her mad. Can she find a way to trade one torment for another and thereby find true love?

The Siren Sarina by C.G. Powell - Author of Spell Checked
Being a siren is not all that it is cracked up to be, especially when you play with the gods. Sarina, like all good sirens, has a penance for sex and not with just anyone. This time her prey is Ares the god of war and lover to Aphrodite. Not that Sarina minds stepping on the goddess of loves toes, but when Ares gifts her with the powers of a god, Zeus can't help but to intervene.

Fool Moon by Cait Lavender - Author of Cowboy Moon
All Jack saw when he looked at Carlie was perfection until she ripped out a man's throat. Confused by the pull she had on his heart, he is left with the choice to chase after the love of his life or to be left howling at the Fool Moon.

Lucky 7

Picture There's this game going around for authors and i was tagged by the wondeful Tiffany White

Of course with any tagging game, there are rules…
1. Go to page 77 of your current MS.
2. Go to line 7.
3. Copy down the next 7 lines (sentences or paragraphs) and post them as they're written.
4. Tag 7 writers and let them know.

Okay, so as a treat, i thought i'd share snippets from Taming the Wolf and Coveted! Please bare with me because these excerpts are coming straight from my rough draft, sans editing.

TAMING THE WOLF - Page 77, line 7 Heading down the hallway, we stepped into a large office. Elle began to scratch at the area rug, it falling back to reveal the hardwood floor. A small notch was cut out of one board. Elle stood over it and began to paw at the floor. I watched her determination with appreciation. When her claw hooked the indentation , she pulled back slowly and the board lifted to reveal an empty slot. Bending down, I clutched the leather bound book in my teeth. (I should mention that at this point, they are in wolf form lol)

Okay, since i don't have 77 pages written on Coveted yet ,i'll post from page 7 instead.I spent my time ringing sales when I had customers. For most of the day I rearranged the shelves, vacuumed, dusted and almost died from boredom. My thoughts often ran towards Dorian. Why was the Angel of Death hanging out in Flora in a tiny apartment? Surely he had better thing to do than try to get into my pants. I thought about how he'd acted around me since moving in and it confused the hell out of me. Was it possible he had feelings for me? In a place other than his penis?  Okay, so that is it, my 7 lines! What did you guys think?

Now time to tag! Jennifer Starks, Lola James, Lisa Rayns, Nichole Chase, C.G. Powell, Liz Schulte, Cait Lavender.....you're it!

This event features giveaways with a value of $10 or more at each of the participating blogs! Be sure to visit each blog from the linkys below and enter for your chance to win!  The hop lasts from March 20 – March 31st at 11:59 PM EST

I'm giving away the first 5 books in the Glory St. Claire series by Gerry Bartlett. I personally own these books and love them. They're light, sexy and funny! Real Vampires Have Curves Picture What-did you think all vamps were pale, thin and brooding? Don't I wish.

Gloriana St. Clair is an eternally "full-figured" vampire-she just happened to be bloating when a sexy Scotsman sank his teeth into her. She and said Scot-Angus Jeremiah Campbell III, aka Jeremy Blade-have been on and off again for centuries, currently off. A couple hundred years has taught them how to press each other's buttons-in good ways andbad.

Glory's headed for Austin and a new business venture: Vintage Vamp's Emporium. After all, she loves clothes, and she is an antique. Only problem is, there's a billionaire techno-freak vampire hunter on the loose. Blade's in total he-vampire mode, and wants Glory to move in with him so he can "protect" her. But it's time for this vamp to explore her own powers

Real Vampires Live Large Picture Glory's been reluctant to try out her vampire powers for centuries. That leaves her with reserves that interest the evil Energy Vampires and their voracious goddess. And what do they do with the energy they suck out of their captives? Make vampire Viagra. Right. Like any vampire male Glory has ever met needed that. But living for centuries can make any vamp bored and look for a way to heighten experiences. The EVs are all about finding a niche market and filling a need. So Glory had better watch her back. Thank goodness she's got wisecracking shapeshifter Valdez by her side and sire and hottie Jeremy Blade always ready to come to her aid. But this ancient woman is determined to be independent now. Can she do that and survive? Well, that's going to be tough. Read and see what happens.
Real Vampires Get Lucky Picture When a female loan shark named Lucky is attacked and left for dead, vampire Glory St. Clair turns her into one of the undead to save her––but eternity would have been safer without her. Vamps prefer a low profile, and that's not Lucky's style. She prefers to flaunt her sexy rock-star ex-boyfriend and great shoes. Trouble is, her flamboyant behavior is not only drawing every vampire hunter within miles— it's bringing her would-be killer out of hiding, too.
Real Vampires Don't Diet Picture Gloriana St. Claire-curvy, stylish, and undead-is spending New Year's Eve alone. And it's all because her boyfriend, Jeremy Blade, is traipsing off to parts unknown to rescue his supposed daughter from the clutches of "dangerous radicals." But just as Glory settles in for the evening, a phone call from the bodyguard of a drunk, newly-undead rock star could end her year on a crazy note.
Real Vampires Hate Their Thighs Picture Glory St. Clair loves soaking up Hollywood's vampire nightlife with her sexy Scottish lover, Jeremiah. Especially when she meets a vampire/ diet guru who promises to give her the body she's wanted for centuries. One problem: his clan and Jeremiah's are ancient enemies. But Glory's not about to let a stupid family feud come between her and slender bliss. Yet, she can't help but wonder...how much is she willing to risk for her hips? And how much (and precisely what) is she willing to lose?

Cupid Painted Blind Blog Heist

Picture Shh, don't tell but I'm taking over Tid Bits. Stephanie Nelson may think she's in control of me but I only let her think that. If I want a chance with Gwen I have to keep her happy, right?

So why am I hijacking her blog? Stephanie finally gave me a voice and it's my turn to tell my side of the story. Some may think all I want is an easy lay but when it comes to Gwen, there's nothing easy about how I feel.

So being the opportunist I am, I trick Gwen into going to Clover Grove, a nice little bed and breakfast, to track down a ghost. The fact that we have to share a bedroom was simply a mistake, or at least that's what I'll let Gwen think.

Picture Cupid Painted Blind, I think it has something to do with Shakespeare. I knew the guy, even escorted him to the hereafter and let me tell you, he talks too much! I was happy to be rid of him, but the women seem to really like his velvet trimmed words so I have to give the man  props.

Cait Lavender Interview

Picture
Cait Lavender is a twenty five year old wife and stay at home mother of one in Central California. Living on a cattle ranch and raising her daughter doesn't afford her much leisure time, but when she has a spare minute or two she loves riding horses, baking and reading everything she can get her hands on. She grew up loving the written word and creative writing and finally decided to work on her dream of becoming a published author.

She has a short story, Cowboy Moon, and a full-length novel, Hunter Moon, both available on Smashwords, Amazon and Barnes & Noble. She'd love to hear from you on her Facebook author page, @caitlavender on Twitter or on her blog, www.caitlavender.com

I'm happy to welcome, Cait Lavender! I met Cait in one of my writer's groups and it's been so fun getting to know her. I was lucky enough to beta read her up coming novel, Hunter Moon and all i can say is it's gonna be a winner! Cait knows how to pull her readers in and have them craving her characters. The sexual tension in Hunter Moon is enough to keep you begging for more.

Cait just released Cowboy Moon, a prequel to Hunter Moon. It's available through Amazon, Smashwords and soon Barnes & Noble.

Now for the interview....

First, why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Well, I'm a stay-at-home mother of one (so far). I live on a 20+ acre cattle ranch in Central California with my husband, daughter and two dogs. I love riding horses and camping, snowboarding and above all, reading! I also write book reviews when I'm not writing my books.

You're novel is called, Hunter Moon. Could you tell us a little bit about it?
It's a Paranormal Romance set very near my hometown in Raymond, CA. The main character, Shelby, is a feisty, fiery woman hell-bent on becoming a successful cattle rancher despite some nasty family who try to take it all away. When a marijuana grower sets up shop on her land, she meets a sexy and mysterious game warden named Cash and fun, steamy chaos ensues.

Have you always been a writer or was there something that inspired you into the field?
I've always loved reading and writing ever since I was a little kid. My mother even used grounding me from my books as an effective form of punishment! I wrote a little bit in high school but really didn't get going until last year when I was inspired by all the talented and successful indy writers who use ebooks as their medium to reach readers.

If you had to describe Shelby in three words, they would be….
Fiery, Loyal and Brave  (

If you had to describe Cash in three words, they would be….
Intense, Surprising and Drop-Dead-Gorgeous (the hyphens make it one word, right? ;)  (Cash in one word is TEMPTING....OH BOY!)

Hunter Moon is you're first novel. How many books are you planning in the series?
Four at this point. The sequel of Hunter Moon and then one for each of Cash's brothers. I also have two short stories, April Moon is the prequel and Rebel Moon, about Jack, a character you'll meet in Hunter Moon.

What scenes do you enjoy writing the most?
I really loved writing scenes where Shelby was just livid. I guess I wish I could act out on my anger like she does.

If you could meet any author, alive or dead, who would it be?
That's a hard question! There are so many, but I'll narrow them down to two. Dead, I'd love to talk to Shakespeare. He's quite possibly the most inspired and genius writer of all time. Alive, I'd love to meet Patricia Briggs. Her books are so amazing and they're set in the town where I was born. My parents moved away when I was a baby, so I really get a better image of it through her books. She inspired me to write about the small town where I grew up, hoping maybe to do the same for someone else.

Pick one song that best describes your book.

Supernaturally Yours

This is your new blog post. Click here and start typing, or drag in elements from the top bar. Picture Today i'm bringing you the top ten witches of cinema and television, along with some other fabulous authors! I've always had a deep fascination with this particular supernatural group. Maybe it's because the prospect of performing magic is just down right awesome! Or perhaps they have such a bad rap and are misunderstood that i feel sorry for them. Unlike other supernaturals, witches are the closest to our reality. Salem Witch Trails anyone? Some people actually believe in them while others actually practice their culture--Wicca. It's because of this belief that countless murders and hatred stemmed, something that never ceases to baffle me.

While witches usually play the bad guys in movies, they are usually the good guys in books. I wonder why that is? So without further ado, i bring you my top ten favorite witches!
One Picture The Wizard of Oz
Billy Burke aka Glenda the good witch from The Wizard of Oz is the earliest memory i have of these magical people. Whenever my sister and i would watch this fabulous show, we'd argue over whom would be which witch. Of course we both wanted to be Glenda, she's the one with the pretty dress! Which leads me to the next on my list....
Two Picture The Wizard of Oz
"I'll get you my pretty and your little dog too!" (love that line!) The Wicked Witch of the West was played by Margaret Hamilton.
Now a lot of "bad" witches showcase green skin, but do you know why? It all leads back to the inquisition where women, who were supposedly practicing in what the Christians thought was "witchcraft". These women were persecuted and beaten in hopes that they'd confess to being a witch. Before they were hanged or burned, they were paraded through the streets and looked frightful due to the greenish bruises coloring their skin from the beatings and torture. This was the last image the people had of these women before they were killed.
Three Picture Hocus Pocus
My next fondest memories i have are of the Sanderson sisters. Sarah, Winifred and Mary. Played by Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy.  Although bad, you can't help but love them! Their quirky, screwball personalities beg for our attention. While they suck at their respective field, they are still bad mamma jamma's. Don't let their humorous demeanor fool you into letting them steal your children! = )
Four Picture Charmed.
Three sisters who descend from a long line of witches, receive their magic when Phoebe reads from the Book of Shadows! Because these three are so powerful, they seem to attract one demon after another. Although their lives are in constant danger, they stick together and fight evil. It's because of their strength and sisterhood that they made the list!
Cast includes: Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combes and Rose McGowan.
Five Picture Bewitched
Samantha (Elizabeth Montgomery) makes the list due to the fact that if i were a witch, i'd be just like her. She tries to do good with her magic but always ends up messing up somehow. Of course if someone ticks her off, she's bound to turn them into a animal or something else unsavory.
Six Picture Practical Magic
The Owens sisters, Sally and Gillian, played by Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. These sisters are hexed by a centuries old curse which kills any man who dares enter their lives. Sally doesn't want anything to do with her magic and tries to live her life as a "normal" woman. Whereas Gillian embraces it which leads to a dead body, a resurrection and one mean ghost! They come together as one and in the end defeat the threat. I'm very close to my sister so maybe i have a soft spot for sister witches, but these two balance each other out so beautifully you can't help but love them!
Seven Picture Harry Potter
What kind of list would this be without, Harry Potter? Enough said. I'm sure i don't have to sell you guys on how amazing this series is. He's awesome, powerful and loyal. His friends are there for him and the magical town, Hogsmeade is magically magnificent! I so wish it existed!!

Cast: Daniel Radcliff, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.
Eight Picture Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Alyson Hannigan played Willow Rosenberg, who was  lovable and always willing to help out a friend. She studies and practices her magic until she knows the stuff by heart. This of course leads her down a dark path but with the help of her friends, she finds her way back.
Nine Picture The Vampire Diaries (Kat Graham)

Bonnie, to me, is like an updated version of Willow from Buffy. She's just learning her magic and uses it to help out her friends. The only difference is she has a little bit more of a backbone than Willow did. I can't help but wonder if Bonnie will also take a trip to the dark side. I can say though, she'd be a kickass friend to have!
Ten Picture The Witches (Anjelica Huston)
This movie came out in 1990 and is based on the book, The Witches by Rolad Dahl. I loved this show when i was a kid. It was a different take on the witches i was used to. In Rolad Dahl's dipiction, the witches hate children. Not only that, they wear disguises. During the day they look normal (see first picture) But when they are alone, the skin comes off to reveal their true ugly selves (see second picture).
This concludes the list. Hope you all enjoyed it! Be sure to check out the other participating blog lists for more scandalous supernaturals!
