Teaser Thursday - Taming the Wolf

Picture It's Thursday and you know what that means, it's teaser time!

“I don’t remember killing anyone but I’ve had dreams of the killings,” I explained. The room was quiet for a moment, spiking my already jumpy nerves. Squeezing my hands tighter, I focused on the pain of my nails digging into my skin.

“What happens in these dreams?” Yet another man asked. It’d be really nice if I could put a face with the voice, but I kept my eyes down.

“I’m the wolf,” I told them. “I see everything from its perspective and its thoughts are the ones that I hear.”

“That’s very…” one of the men started.

“Bizarre, it’s bizarre,” another one finished.

Teaser from Taming the Wolf

Picture I missed posting a teaser last Thursday. My life has been a little hectic lately. My office was turned into a storage room while we remodeled out kitchen, and I'm just now getting it back in order.
Taming the Wolf is right on pace and if no more distractions pop up, I'll be publishing by the end of May!

                                              --Teaser--
“I went grocery shopping by myself a month ago and I didn’t attack anyone,” I told Wade like this was the equivalent to winning a gold medal.

Wade looked at me through the rear view mirror and said, “Congratulations, but from what I saw today you still aren’t comfortable with humans.”

I had the strong urge to stick my tongue out at him but decided that would be immature and not help my cause. We sat in silence for the rest of the trip, which like everything else in Wyoming, took forever. Buffalo was at least forty-five minutes away and the only view outside my window was land with only a few houses every ten miles or so to break up the landscape.

My mind traveled back to when I was still just human—only three months ago but it felt like eons. I’d adapted to living with Adam’s pack so quickly that I hadn’t thought about the life I’d lost. Not that I really had a life to speak of, but it was a lot simpler then. Sure I barely made enough money to get by and I came home to a dog at night but my life was my own.

Now, I could be a murderer and was obsessed with a man who wouldn’t give himself to me fully. Oh how the tides turn. I’d traded one extreme—boring life—for another—exciting and dangerous life.

Interview with Autumn from Cupid Painted Blind

Picture In celebration of Cupid Painted Blind being FREE today, I'm interviewing Autumn.

Autumn, why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hi, Stephanie. Thanks for having me! I've lived in Montana all my life and I used to be an animal photographer. One of my favorite things to do is ride horse. I trust my horse more than most humans––especially doctors! I have red hair due to my Scottish roots and…I think I killed my boyfriend.

In your story we learn that you're running from death. Could you please tell the readers why the cottage you were trying to get to is so special.
I'd love to. I had to get to the cottage because it's protected by Brownies! Brownies are the invisible, brown elves who followed my grandparents from Scotland. If you treat them good, leave them snacks, and ask them nicely, they'll protect you and your house and keep you safe!

Randoms
1. What is your favorite song? Lately, I've been listening to "Beyond the Grave" by Saxon. I'm not sure why.
2. At what age did you first kiss a boy? Honestly, the first time I kissed a boy I was twelve and it wasn't really all that special but if you want to know about a special kiss… I was 25 when I first kissed a ghost, and let me tell you, that was an AMAZING experience.
3. If you were stranded on a island, what 3 things would you bring? Well, I'd have to bring my horse, Charm, and my Brownies for sure. Oh, and some great running shoes!
4. Vanilla or chocolate? Chocolate reminds me of safe Brownies.
5. Favorite season? I'll have to say any season where a giant tornado of death isn't chasing me!

Thank you, Autumn. If you guys would like to read more about her story today is the day to pick up Cupid Painted Blind. It's

Teaser Thursday - Taming the Wolf

Picture It's teaser Thursday!! Today I only have a small one, but I hope you guys enjoy it!
--TeaserWith the tip of his pointer finger, Adam tipped my chin upwards so that he could look into my eyes. I could drown in his sapphire gaze and not care. Every part of me craved him and I hated it.

Teaser Time - Taming the Wolf

Picture   -TEASER TIME-
“Seems my affections for you didn’t go unnoticed,” Adam said looking over at me. His eyes watched me so intently, I forgot myself for a moment.

“I need to know why you waited so long. I’ve been here for three months and other than teaching me about the wolves or punishing me, you never spoke to me. You threatened to give me to Luke if I didn’t date Sawyer and now you want me for yourself,” I paused to take a breath. “Whatever game you’re playing, I’m not. I like Sawyer and you’re mated to Eve. I’m not willing to die for something I can’t have.” I spoke the words that’d been lingering on my lips for days. I made sure I coated them with authority and confidence, in hopes they’d penetrate Adam’s stubborn head. My facial features were stony and my eyes meant business.

Inside, it felt like water rushing down a drain. Everything I allowed myself to believe could happen with Adam was withdrawing and left me empty. Against my better judgment and morals, I wanted Adam as sure as the farmer’s want rain. I craved his presence and touch like a struggling drug addict. Sure that if I didn’t get a taste of him my body would convulse until I either got another dose or it left my system completely. The realization was so strong that it left me breathless, suffocating on the emotions that gnawed on my insides until there was nothing left.

Cait Lavender - Hunter Moon

Author, Cait Lavender's character, James Newcomb stopped by today to do a guest post and give you guys an excerpt of her novel, Hunter Moon!

Tips For Dating A Werewolf—by James Newcomb

Hello, ladies...and gentlemen. I will be taking over this blog post because Cait’s attempt to give you insights into the lupine psyche were bumbling and clumsy. I’ll forgive her, only because she’s lovely and holds my fate in her hands.

The first and most important rule when dating a werewolf is this—Run. We lupine can do a lot of things, but denying our baser instincts is not one of them, and there is nothing more primal than the instinct to stalk, pursue and capture our prey. And let me assure you, all of you lovely, mouthwatering ladies are our prey. When you run from us, we will chase you and I promise you’ll enjoy being caught.

Secondly, but just as important, is to resist. My fellow lupines might castrate me for revealing this little tidbit, but it must be said. We are alpha males. We use our intimidating presence to get our way, and we do. Often. Deep down, however, we love a challenge. So fight, resist, flee. Make us drag you kicking and screaming. The anticipation heightens our enjoyment and in turn will heighten yours.

Finally, in case you weren’t aware of a certain possessive aspect of lupine nature, once you are caught, you’re caught for good. We don’t share. You are ours. There is no prenup to sign, there are no wolf divorce courts. On the up side, they’re unnecessary. Once a lupine has met and caught his true mate, he’ll go to the ends of the earth to ensure her happiness. So congratulations, all of you lucky ladies. You’re about to get on the ride of your life.

Excerpt from Hunter Moon Picture “Well boys, as much as I love going over old war stories of finding smelly dead guys, I’m tired and I want to take a hot shower and go to bed.” I gave Jesse a big hug. “Thanks for coming over. I don’t know what I would do without you and your logic.” I chuckled and lifted the mug. She smiled and grabbed Tyler’s hand as they walked to his sheriff’s car.

I turned toward the warden. He looked boyish as he stood there, eyes down with his hands in his pockets, all he needed was to kick a rock with his foot and say “aw gee”. I watched the deputy and Jesse drive down my driveway and yawned. Too tired to be irritated, I started to say goodnight, but when he looked up at me with such amusement in his eyes I froze, wary.

“You know, if you wanted to see me today, you didn’t have to find a dead body. You could have just called.” I stood there, stunned, with my mouth hanging open. Okay, I guess I’m not that tired anymore.

“Of all the stupid, narcissistic—” I breathed, but before I could flinch, Cash had closed the distance between us and held my face in his hands. Too startled to move, he kissed me. Not just any kind of kiss, either, but a full on, overpowering, knee buckling kiss. His lips were full and soft on mine, and I let out a small moan and sank into his chest.

Not one to waste an opportunity, he darted his tongue in my mouth and started to explore. I reveled in the taste of him. Something in my head clicked, and I felt like this was where I was supposed to be. His strong arms were wrapped around me, pulling against his warm, hard chest. Even his musky scent smelled like home. Where have you been? A small voice in my head asked.

As abruptly as it had started, he pulled away and stepped back, breathing heavily. I swayed a little when he let go of me, sure I was about to pass out. His eyes were intense, like blue lasers cutting right through me, but he smiled.

“Don’t go riding by yourself anymore, Shelby.” He tweaked my nose. “I don’t want you bumbling into a pot stand and getting yourself killed. It’s too much paperwork for me.” And then he was in his truck driving away. I raised my hand to my lips and stared after him bewildered.

What had just happened?
