Hello! As always, thanks for stopping by and your comments. Today is my birthday - yay! I'm officially the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything as proposed by Douglas Adams - 42. So, have a Pangalactic Gargleblaster on me, and if you're still conscious after that enjoy a snippet taken from Keir. He's arrived on another world with Quin during a...

The Answer to Life, the Universe and EVERYTHING is...

...me! Lol! What, you were expecting a real answer? Whoops, sorry! No. Just plain old me. Today I'm hitting that magical number Douglas Adams proposed as the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything.

I feel I should be drinking a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster to celebrate. According to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the mixing instructions are:

Take the juice from one bottle of Ol' Janx Spirit. Pour into it one measure of water from the seas of Santraginus V — Oh, that Santraginean sea...

A female Doctor Who?

I can hear a few people keeling over in horror already, and a few others doing fist pumps and victory dances. With all the recent fevered discussion over who the new Who might be, including calls for someone black, ginger, or female (or maybe all three? C'mon, how awesome might that be?!) and the announcement now scheduled for this coming Sunday, it seems an appropriate thought to muse over. I don't honestly believe it will ever happen. Although I think Joanna Lumley did a sterling performanc...

Sculptures and Spidercrabs

Yeah, an odd title I know, but it'll make sense. Eventually anyhow.

Back in May, I was lucky enough to see a very gifted friend - Ian Peaston - play at the Brighton Fringe, the second time I'd seen him perform. This time he was appearing solo as Violin Variations (you can read my post One Man, a Violin, and a Laptop here).

Me, outside the Brighton Royal PavilionIt was also a rare opportunity for my husband and I to have some time away from our three little monsters, so we took full advantage....

Summer Fun Blog Hop

I can't say I love the sun. I'm white skinned and red haired, so more than ten minutes out in the sunlight and I start burning like a non-sparkly vampire. :P

But I much prefer the warm to winter's chill, and summer means one thing to my kids - the beach! They'd happily spend every day there, and it's a place that's provided a few good hours of reading time, or sparked plenty of inspiration. My local beach became the tropical planet of Metraxi in my debut novel Keir, and features in the s...

THIS TIME NEXT YEAR - Guest Post & #giveaway by Cate Peace

Tandy's defense of setting up Moira with 1Night Stand; or, What are Best Friends For (if not for going behind your back and setting you up with a date)?

Best friends have to wear a lot of hats—the party hat for those awesome times, the commiseration hat when things don’t go as planned (it looks like one of those birdcage veil things), the spiked helmet (that matches the armor) for when people mess with our loved ones. Sometimes, though, we have to put on the devil horns.
That happens to be my...

The 'cover' I made for NaNoWriMo
Hello! *waves* Welcome back to another #sffsat snippet, and thanks for stopping by (and for the comments last week). This week I'm leaving Imprint (because most of you apparently couldn't stand the suspense and scurried off to get/read the anthology - thank you!) and visiting a different WIP. This is from my #decopunk superhero romance story (yeah, I know, that's a mouthful) and we're just about to meet the two main characters...

A Surprise in the Post

The last couple of weeks I've been taking a walk after dropping my little monsters at school, because the doctor told me to get some gentle exercise for my bad back. Wednesday I got home to find that dreaded red card from Royal Mail on my doormat. My stroll had meant I'd missed a delivery of a package because 'it's too large' and so it would be 'waiting for you at your local Delivery Office'. Sigh. By 'local' they mean right across town and not on a bus route, and with no parking options and...
