“The profundity of Cicero’s observations on the human condition, coupled with the directness of his language, is startling in the best way possible. Unpretentious, highly intelligent, and infused with a deep and admirable sense of empathy, Nature Documentary will shake you awake and remind you of the small, fleeting, and incredibly precious nature of your own life.”

Amy Saul-Zerby, author of Deep Camouflage

Pre-order Nature Documentary by Noah Cicero, out February 1 from House of Vlad Productions: houseofvlad.bigcartel.com

HOLIDAY DINER: A DEPRESSING XMAS TALE BY BRIAN ALAN ELLIS

HOLIDAY DINER: A DEPRESSING XMAS TALE BY BRIAN ALAN ELLIS:

Was asked to submit Christmas content for CLASH Media so I pulled out this old yuletide banger from my 2015 story collection (Something Good, Something Bad, Something Dirty), called “Holiday Diner,” which is about a pistol-wielding, hard-ass waitress named Flo who shuts down an onslaught of toxic Christmastime masculinity.

The Collapsar & Friends' Best Albums of 2017

The Collapsar & Friends' Best Albums of 2017:

I wrote a little thing about Lorde’s Melodrama for The Collapsar Best Albums of 2017 list, though editor Susannah Clark (and the rest of her cronies) and I are no longer on speaking terms because they foolishly left the new Lana Del Rey, which I also wrote about, off the list. As if! *winks*

Before my next official book—tentatively titled Sad Laughter:...

Before my next official book—tentatively titled Sad Laughter: A Totally Unessential and Demotivational Guide to Writing and Publishing—comes out next year from Civil Coping Mechanisms, I’ll be re-releasing my first three books—The Mustache He’s Always Wanted but Could Never Grow, 33 Fragments of Sick-Sad Living, and King Shit (with Waylon Thornton)—in one 240-page volume called A Drunken Heap of Trouble Every Week, which will come out in December (pre-orders will start maybe next week on Big Cartel), and it’ll include introductions by Ben Tanzer, Bud Smith, and Gabino Iglesias, with cover art by Michael Seymour Blake, so if you ever wanted to check out my early shit—God knows why—then this would be an economical way to do it. Oh, and the first 25 domestic orders will come signed and hand-numbered, which means I’ll have to start going to the damn post office again, but oh well. Here’s the pea-soup green cover art to lure you in.
