Bipolar Cowboy, by Noah Cicero
I review the latest from Noah Cicero, which is “a brave and poignant look into an artist’s mind as he struggles to exist in a world where Hulkamania is generally not the strongest force in the universe and we are all in danger of being crushed by a five hundred–pound giant hailing from parts unknown.”

Flo is sweet, but she’s a hard bitch.
Flo is sweet,
but she’s a hard bitch. The gray-brown, frizz-fried tendrils sprouting through
her hairnet holes look as though they’re screaming for vengeance, wanting to
escape. Her face cracks when she grins. The black crud between her butterscotch
teeth show she’s given up on certain kinds of men. Fifty going on infinity.
“More coffee?” she says listlessly to the young couple—Couple of what? she wonders—paying her no mind. “Damn kids,” she
mutters, wheezing, placing their check face down on the table. Doesn’t care
whether they pay or whether they “chew ’n’ screw,” though she should; she’s got
cats to feed, lots of them, those rotten-spoiled feline bitches she loves.—“Holiday
Diner,” from Something Good, Something Bad, Something Dirty

Tables Without Chairs #1
Been tweaking what will be this summer’s Tables without Chairs #1, where Bud Smith and I’ll be co-branding our charms and handsomeness, taking readers into worlds where people lose their keys, or take too many pills and fart in their sleep, or run out of gas on highways, or blow up inflatable hot tubs in their apartments, or maliciously piss on other people’s floors. King Shit guy Waylon Thornton will also be illustrating this adventure! It’s gonna be something.
Also, my latest book of stories is still available (just sayin’). Picking one up helps support the war effort that is Tables without Chairs #1. Here’s what charming, handsome co-brand Bud Smith has to say about it:

“[Ellis] writes like someone who doesn’t give a fuck, which means he writes WIDE OPEN. The characters that live in these stories are falling down, are slipping on grapes in supermarkets, are tripping over their shoe laces and going face first into a mirror. There’s grime and blood and other unidentified body fluids stuck to the surfaces of this book’s world.”

Love ya’ll.

TODAY I AM THIS BORING APOCALYPSE POSING FOR HUSTLER: Notes on new books by xTx, Brandi Wells, and Andrea Kneeland
Wrote some stuff about the latest books by Brandi Wells, xTx, and Andrea Kneeland, which I feel are are, like, totally at the cutting edge of experimental literature today, and, like, you should totally give ‘em a read because it’s good to, like, read books that roundhouse kick you in the face and leave some bruises, and also because it’s good to read something that probably won’t be made into some shitty-ass movie because these books are, like, too real for that, you know?

TNBBC's The Next Best Book Blog: Book Review: Something Good, Something Bad, Something Dirty
His stories are always about the underbelly of society and his characters are unlike any you’ve ever read about before and Ellis doesn’t hold anything back. He doesn’t cater to his reader. He doesn’t worry himself with whether or not a particular story is going to be too much for you. He doesn’t dress his characters up. He just lets it all fly.

Notes on the Shore: King Shit by Brian Alan Ellis
“So basically, the story is about a drunkard whose first name is Elvis. It’s called “King S***,” because Elvis was considered the king of music and the guy named Elvis is a piece of s***.”

Mr. Ben Tanzer had some very nice things to say about my new book. David S. Atkinson’s The Garden of Good and Evil Pancakes is also discussed. Actually, David’s book is discussed whereas mine only disgusts. HEY OOOO!

Razorcake | punk music book reviews | | King Shit | By Brian Alan, Illustrated By Waylon Thornton
Review of King Shit, from Razorcake #84. Someone didn’t bother to print my last name, but reviewer Simon Stoleto came up with this great line: “It’s been awhile since I was a person who’s long since wanted to get into a drunken heap of trouble every week.”
