Holy Cow at the Winners! Are you one of them?
LOTS of winners this week because of the big Friday "second chance" giveaways. The postal service is gonna love me. Lots coming next week kicking off with a ginormous Reader's Choice contest tomorrow, so stay tuned.
A quick pause for a commercial interruption. I was SO EXCITED (can you tell) yesterday to see that Royal Street was given a starred review (that's a really good thing) in the Feb. 6 issue of Publisher's Weekly. You can read it HERE.
Winners: if you see your name here, please email y...

From the Royal Street Playlist--And Last Chance for Weekly Contests
I've shared quite a bit of my series playlist here on the blog, and if you're a regular reader you recognize Zachary Richard...because, sigh, I love his music...er, I mean my character DJ loves his music.
Anyway, by an unfortunate coincidence, at the time of Hurricane Katrina, I was reading a book by John Barry called Rising Tide: The Great Mississippi Flood of 1927--it was the only book I had with me when I evacuated. Stupid, right?
Anyway, this song by Zachary Richard, "Big River," is about t...

Huge Unclaimed Books Day--Come and Get 'Em
Yes, it's a sad, sad story. Person wins book on blog, but never comes back to see if they won. Or they didn't leave an email. So here sits poor Suzanne, surrounded by piles of books she needs to move on their way to make for her own ever-exploding TBR pile. So it's Fire-Sale Friday!
Here are the books I have up for grabs, in no particular order. A few are ARCs, but most are not. All genres. Leave a comment to win one at random, or if you have a preference among them, tell me. Every single...

From the ROYAL STREET files: Ten-Sentence Tuesday, and Sid-Mar's
Yeah,I know—it's supposed to be Six-Sentence Sunday, but sometimes you have to stepoutside the box, right? Today, I'd like to introduce you to Sid-Mar's ofBucktown, one of my favorite New Orleans restaurants. I spent many eveningsdowning oysters either in their screened-in porch or the back patio overlookingLake Pontchartrain. (Sid-Mar's is named for owners Sid and Mary, by the way.)
Here'sSid-Mar's as it looked when the following ten-sentence excerpt takes place, from Chapter 2 of Royal...
