October Newsletter Contest Winner Announcement

First of all, thanks so much to all who entered my October newsletter contest. I actually had a record-breaking number of entries! (Turns out avid readers really like the idea of a giant bag full of signed books and book goodies, guess that's not a surprise! LOL) I will definitely be making every effort to bring back similar prizes from other events in the future. A winner for this month has been randomly chosen, and it's:
Pamela S.
I have contacted Pamela via e-mail, so if that's you, you should have a message from me in your inbox right now.

Pamela won this registration bag from the 2013 Lora Leigh's RAW event. It's signed by all RAW authors and full of books and other goodies from the authors. (See my photo recap of this year's RAW here.)
As always, a new month means a new edition of my newsletter and a new contest. In November's newsletter I'll also be revealing something special - the 4th Inked in the Steel City book! Look for November's newsletter featuring the cover, title and blurb reveal in your inbox very early in the month.

My Sleepy Hollow Series is Now Available in a New eBook Bundle

Lately I've been getting more questions than usual about my Sleepy Hollow Series (I have a feeling I have Tom Mison to thank for this, LOL).
Well, Books 1 & 2 in my Sleepy Hollow Series originally released about a year and a half ago. More recently, I decided to release them together in an ebook bundle that's priced at a discount, compared to buying them separately. The two books go hand-in-hand (Whiskey Dreams actually serves as a prequel to Haunted Passions ) and they're already available together in one paperback volume.
The new ebook bundle goes by the same title as the print combo, which is Sleepy Hollow: Haunted Passions and Whiskey Dreams.

"Sensual, intriguing, mysterious and romantic; above all it's a fascinating love story."
-Tam's Two Cents Reviews

"A very entertaining and emotional read: one that is filled with sensual scenes of male on male, and menage a troi, eroticism. There are also some bone-chilling thrills."
-Hearts on Fire Reviews

"Ms. Rose's ability to weave together a good story and create realistic, sympathetic characters is unbelievable. [...] I am going to enjoy reading [Whiskey Dreams] over and over."
- Hearts on Fire Reviews
* * *
These stories are original, but inspired by Washington Irving's classic short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. They're actually some of my favorites among the things I've written. So I'm pretty happy to be able to present a new two-book bundle option in time for Halloween.
Here's the blurb for the new bundle:
A dangerous romance unfolds between two men and the woman who’s captured both of their hearts, but their love is haunted by the ghosts of the Revolutionary War in 1784 Sleepy Hollow, New York. This two-book bundle includes Books 1 & 2 in the Sleepy Hollow Series.Whiskey Dreams (Sleepy Hollow, #1)The war that won the country its independence also lost many of the men who fought to achieve it, including Brom’s lover. Years later, he still feels as if he left half of himself on the battlefield. When a new schoolmaster comes to Sleepy Hollow, a spark and a whiskey-flavored kiss ignite feelings he thought were long dead. But in order to be with John, he’ll have to let the past be the past, or risk letting it destroy his opportunity to start over. And even then, loving another man is a dangerous endeavor.A novella prequel to Haunted Passions. Haunted Passions (Sleepy Hollow, #2)Losing one’s heart to another man is dangerous enough without the added threat of a supernatural terror. But that hasn’t stopped John Crane and Brom Bones from falling hard in love – with each other, and with the alluring Katrina Van Tassel. When Brom becomes engaged to Katrina, John is sure the wedding will tear him and Brom apart, and their love sparks a struggle between passion and loyalty. But Brom is determined to keep both of his lovers, and Katrina has some secret desires of her own – desires that haunt only the wildest of John’s dreams and blur the lines they’ve all been fighting not to cross. Is it possible for three people to be in love? Their passion won’t be enough to keep them together if something isn’t done about the evil that’s haunting Sleepy Hollow: a headless horseman who rides to kill.A novel. Available as an ebook at…Amazon     B&N     Apple     Kobo     AReAnd in paperback at…Amazon      B&NIf you'd like, you can check out my Sleepy Hollow Series page here at my site. Now it's back to work for me on the other series developments I have going. ;)

My RAW 2013 Trip - Photo Recap

I recently returned from this year's RAW (Lora Leigh's Reader Appreciation Weekend 2013). As always, it was a lot of fun. Thought I'd share some photos from from my trip.
First, though, a note to others who were there -- thank you for attending & making the event special. I realize that I appeared fairly zombie-like during most of this RAW (mostly because people kept commenting on how 'tired' I looked or asking if I was 'okay', LOL).
I hope it didn't seem like I wasn't glad to be there. I was. I was just really exhausted due to pregnancy, a sleep deficit and the criminal lack of a Starbucks within a mile's radius of the hotel. (Hee hee... Actually there was a Dunkin' Donuts, so I shouldn't complain - but the thing about coffee is that I need coffee before I have the energy to go get coffee. Catch-22.)
Anyway, here's my photo recap of this year's event...

There was a really beautiful harvest moon during my trip to RAW. This crappy cell phone snapshot in no way does it justice, but there you go. After emerging from an epic traffic jam, it was nice to be able to cruise along and look at the moon.

RAW was held in my original hometown of Hagerstown, MD, which was awesome. Especially since it meant I could make a quick trip to see family at any time, and drink all their coffee, and eat sweet wonderful carbs! (It's hard to find edible carbs while traveling when you're gluten-free.)
On the first day of RAW we started things off with a Princess Welcome Party. AKA the perfect excuse to wear a tiara. Photo by Kimberly Radicy Rocha.
The best part of RAW is getting to spend time with fellow booklovers. I really wanted to wear my Hot Ink t-shirt too, but at 6 months pregnant, wearing one of my regular t-shirts wouldn't have been a wise fashion choice. LOL
Fellow authors are booklovers I love getting to see too. Beside me on the right is Carrie Ann Ryan.
This year, my favorite RAW party was the 80's party, because of all the costumes. I'm the Care Bear in the middle!
It took me a long time to come up with the perfect 80's related maternity costume. LOL
These girls put my costume-making efforts to shame. (BTW I love The Little Mermaid.) There were some seriously impressive costumes at the parties, but theirs were my favorites. Photo by Jeannie Platt.
The 80's party = a lot of dancing. A lot of neon. And a lot of leg warmers.
At the end of it all I just wanted to take of my badge, my jelly bracelets and curl up with my kindle. LOL
Oh yes... the Dragon Dance. Originally invented by author Bianca D'arc, it sort of became a craze. The whole audience got into it during the paranormal panel. There has been talk of a workout video. Hee hee.
The Book Obsessed Chicks group portrait. Photo by Kimberly Radicy Rocha.
The book signing was on Sunday. A big thank you to all the readers who came to see me. I hope you're enjoying your new books. :)
I like to bring back something special from these events whenever possible to give away. I think I did pretty well this time. ;) This registration bag is signed by all RAW authors and filled with books and swag. I'll be giving it away in my October newsletter contest. The October issue will go out in a few days, and if you're not already a subscriber and would like to be, you can sign up by entering your e-mail address in the box below and hitting 'enter'.

More good news = the plan is to hold RAW in Hagerstown again next year. Hope to see you there!

New Book / Cover Reveal: Bright Blue Moon (Half Moon Shifters 2.5)

Last September, the third book in my Half Moon Shifters Series ( A Taste of Honey ) released. This September, I'm revealing the details for the next book.
I know a year is a long time to wait for the next book in a series. Thank you x 1,000,000 to the Half Moon Shifters readers who've waited so patiently. With multiple series going (plus other standalones), I don't always get to release installments in my series as often as I'd like to. And I'm really glad to (finally!) be able to announce exactly what's coming next for the Half Moon Pack. So without further ado...
A second chance at a happily ever after only comes once in a blue moon – or in Kimberly’s case, once in a lifetime. After the disappearance of the only man she’s ever loved, she knows that after so many years, chances are slim that Michael is still alive. But when her world is shifted on its axis at their daughter’s wedding, it becomes clear that anything is possible.Leaving behind the woman he loved and their unborn child was the hardest thing Michael ever had to do – even harder than seeing his pack massacred, or spending most of his life on the run, hunting and being hunted. In the aftermath of a battle that finally ended the threat posed by a vicious clan of shifter hunters, he’s finally free to return to Kimberly.Despite the passage of time, the spark of their love is still alive. Unfortunately, their reunion coincides with the strangest trouble the Half Moon Pack has ever encountered: the arrival of a monster hunting TV show crew determined to prove that something unnatural is lurking in the Great Smoky Mountains.Book 2.5 in the Half Moon Shifters Series.Bright Blue Moon is a novella that takes place between Books 2 and 3.Releasing October 28, 2013* * * * *Bright Blue Moon is intended for those who've read Books 1 & 2. As those readers know, Kimberly and Michael have been through a lot and were reunited at the end of Book 2 ( True Alpha ). I couldn't resist telling their story, now that they have the option of starting a life together again. After all the heartbreak and bloodshed they've encountered (for, uh, decades!), Bright Blue Moon gives them some breathing room and a chance to sort things out without the threat of imminent, violent death (hey, I figure they deserve a break like that). So those who pick up Bright Blue Moon can expect the issues caused by a film crew to be decidedly more lighthearted than those raised by the vicious Gruens in Book 2.Anyway, I'm really looking forward to having the next Half Moon Shifters book out there. Hope those who've been following the series will enjoy reading about Kimberly & Michael's second chance as much as I've enjoyed writing it. :)* * * * *Optional…Want to be the first to know when a new Half Moon Shifters Series book releases? Update on Series / Book Release Plans for the Rest of 2013

During the first half of this year, you would've needed a team of wild horses to make me tell you my complete writing and book release schedule for 2013, even tentatively. I don't like to promise anything I have any doubts about being able to pull off, so I basically kept my projects to myself until they were in my editor's hands and had reached a certain stage in the editing process.
I still think this was the best way for me to operate. The first six months of 2013 were a hectic time for me, personally.
First, it was navigating health concerns that ultimately turned into a string of misdiagnoses. (Eventually I got some real answers that weren't crap, and were for the most part a lot better than what I'd originally been told was going on. Luckily!)
Then I found out I was pregnant.
Then I moved.
So, this year, I can't say I've been progressing quite as quickly as usual, writing-wise.
Still, this summer I blogged about my book release plans for the rest of 2013. I was a little nervous about announcing the three books I planned to put out there before the year's end. Even though I knew exactly what my writing plans were, what if something prevented me from carrying them out as planned / on time?
Here was my list of books I planned to publish by the end of the year:
-The surprise standalone title (Hell Without You)-The next Inked in the Steel City Book-The next Half Moon Shifters Book
Obviously, Hell Without You has released. That's 1/3 of my list. And I've been working on the rest, of course. Since HWY is out there now, I thought it was time to blog an update on my progress with the rest.
And I'm happy to report that as summer draws to a close, so far so good on my remaining 2013 writing / publishing timeline progress. Plans haven't changed and my personal life is more stable than it was a few months ago. So, I feel pretty optimistic about having something new out there for my series readers by the time the holidays roll around. I won't say everything's set in stone, but I will say that I'm planning an update to my site's 'Newest & Coming Soon' page, well ... soon!
I'm looking forward to a new cover / blurb / release date reveal and plan to post it by the end of September. I'll probably wait until after I return from Lora Leigh's RAW, which I'll be leaving for in a few days.
I'm excited to share. It always makes me happy to announce the next book in a series, since so many readers ask about them. Thank you for waiting!
On another note, for anyone who didn't see my last post -- right now I've got a giveaway going on here on my blog. It's for one of the All-New Kindle Paperwhites and some Hell Without You goodies. If you've had your eye on those new kindles, make sure you stop by this post and enter the giveaway -- it's as easy as leaving a comment.

Hell Without You Release Day Celebration & All-New Kindle Paperwhite Giveaway

Today is release day for my newest contemporary romance, Hell Without You. To celebrate, I'm giving away prizes (see below), including an All-New Kindle Paperwhite! Entering the drawing is easy using the Rafflecopter widget. :)

Time changes everything, except what’s meant to be.
Seven years is a long time – long enough to transform Clementine from a small-town teenager with a broken heart into a woman ready to take on the world, but not long enough to make her forget about the man she was never supposed to see again. A temporary return to tiny Willow Heights thrusts her back into Donovan’s life and home, unearthing heartbreak and obsession that have stood the test of time.
He left seven years ago too, for war and other things Clementine can only imagine. Coming back to the town where he grew up in the shadow of poverty and drug addiction makes no sense, and neither do Clementine’s feelings for him. He could never forgive her for leaving, could he? Even if she had no choice.
Now, she has the freedom to choose … and so does he. Every day in Willow Heights makes it clearer: all he ever really wanted was her, and nothing will change that. Not even a taste of the hell that drove them apart in the first place.
Novel-length.
Read Chapter 1 Here
Available at...
Amazon      B&N       ARe      Amazon UK
Coming to more retailers & in paperback this week.
* * * * *Review Excerpt
"It is difficult to put into words how much I loved Donovan. [...] This is a man who has suffered, at the hands of people who should have been looking out for him. He struggles with anxiety as a result of PTSD, and the vulnerability he displays in the extremes he is prepared to go to to ensure Clementine doesn't leave him again bought tears to my eyes.
Donovan - 'The only thing I am afraid of is a life without you.' [...] 'There's nothing you can say to scare me off. Nothing I wouldn't want, as long as it was with you.'"

I'm giving away two separate prize packages - one that's US-only and one that's international (all countries included).
Prize Package #1 (US-Only)

Hell Without You Playlist - Listen to the Songs I Wrote To

I like to listen to music when I write -- not constantly, but sometimes. Some of my stories are more emotionally driven than others, and those are the ones I tend to write with my headphones on.

Hell Without You is one of those books. Now that release day is a week away, I thought sharing my writing playlist would be a fun way to introduce Clementine, Donovan and their story, albeit indirectly.

Up until recently, my headphones were my office. I've moved and those days are over (*cue Hallelujah Chorus*), but music can still be an important part of my creative process, especially when I'm developing a story / plot. Playing the right songs can be like tapping directly into a vein of emotions that amplify my story ideas and bring them to life faster. That being said, this playlist is one I turned to throughout the entire process, from drafting to editing.

World's smallest office. LOL
Here's my writing playlist for Hell Without You. I've linked each song directly to its music video on YouTube, so all you have to do to listen to a song is click its title.

“Like a Stone” – Audioslave“Glycerin” – Bush“Hurt” – Johnny Cash (NIN cover)“Castle of Glass” – Linkin Park“Howl” – Florence and the Machine“Closure” – Chevelle“Stubborn Love” – The Lumineers“Sail” – Awolnation“Bones” – Young Guns“Disarm” – Smashing Pumpkins“Ghosts that We Knew” – Mumford and Sons“Say You’ll Haunt Me” – Stone Sour“17 Crimes” – AFI“Today” – Smashing Pumpkins"You're Going Down" - Sick Puppies“The Enemy” – Mumford and Sons“Rise to Me” – The Decemberists“Demons” – Imagine Dragons“Prelude Op. 28 No. 15 aka Raindrop” - Frédéric ChopinMany of the songs on this list are favorites of mine. What about you -- see any songs you love on this list?

Want a preview of Donovan & Clementine's story? I've posted all of Chapter 1 on my site. You can read it here.
