For #NaNoWriMo I need the ability to write wherever and whenever I can. Evernote let's me do that and keep my notes with me. After NaNoWriMo, I think I will stitch everything together in Scrivener. This seems like the best of both worlds.

Saw this after renting a couple ebooks from the Amazon Lending Library via the Greater Phoenix Library system. It's a good system, but Sarah makes excellent points that I know that I as a customer was not aware of and it makes me more than a little worried that libraries got screwed by this.

Libraries Got Screwed by Amazon and Overdrive | Librarian in Black Blog – Sarah Houghton

Below is my 10 minute rant about why the Kindle format lending from Overdrive is anti-user, anti-intellectual freedom, anti-library, and something that all librarians should be aware of and disturbed by. Amazon and Overdrive did wrong by us, and we bent over and took it. Watch to learn more. Warn...

I've been following the progress on Scrivener for Windows for a while. I've tinkered with it on the Mac a little bit. For this year's NaNoWriMo, Scrivener is offering a new trial offer, and Scrivener for Windows beta/trial is one of the options. Looks like it goes for sale on October 31!

I plan to use the Scrivener for Windows trial for NaNoWriMo 2011, and even if I don't reach my 50,000 word goal this year two things will be true: 1) I'll have a good head start on my prequels and 2) I'll have played with Scrivener for Windows for a month and will learn to use this often-praised tool for writers. With the discount codes they are offering, I'm pretty sure I'll be buying this ASAP.

If you are a writer, especially if you are going to give NaNoWriMo a shot this year, you should check out this trial offer.

Reasoning about code means being able to follow the execution path ("running the program in your head") while knowing what the goal of the code is.

Hey folks, the Kindle version of LILITH'S LOVE is now only $2.99, and you should soon see this being updated in the other major eBook stores as well. Some of the slow ones might still have it as $3.99 or higher but they will eventually all drop. Of course, you can still set your own price at Smashwo...
