The Unseen Realm by Michael S. Heiser

If you enjoy Dr. Heiser’s podcast, The Naked Bible Podcast, you might like his books. In The Unseen Realm, he takes the history of Scripture and examines its context in the supernatural to help us grow in understanding God.
The realization that I needed to read the Bible like a premodern person who embraced the supernatural, unseen world has illumined its content more than anything else in my academic life.

Criticize the behavior, not the person. Praise in public; criticize in private. Praise with emotion, criticize without emotion.
Five Practices of Spiritual Leaders
Paul’s last letter to Timothy includes five essential practices of spiritual leaders. If we incorporate these big five into our lives and schedules, we are well on our way to thinking and acting like spiritual leaders.
Fan the flame.Follow the pattern.Guard the deposit.Preach the Word.Do your best.Thinking like a leader is just the start. May this message help you also act like a leader.

Think Like an Apostle
Recently, I was reading through Paul’s letter to the Philippians, and I began to get a glimpse into his way of thinking as an apostle. I divided what I learned into four categories of apostolic thinking:
Apostolic MindsetApostolic MessageApostolic MissionApostolic MotiveNo matter what type of spiritual leader you are, I hope we can learn to not just think like a leader but to think like an apostle.

“Great Is Thy Faithfulness (Live)” by Every Nation Music
This is one of my favorite renditions of this hymn, sung live in multiple languages at our 2019 Go Conference. I’m looking forward to praising God for his faithfulness with nations all around the world at Go 2023.
When You Are Old
When we think about thinking like a leader, the difference between the young and emerging leader and the older and experienced leader is often found in their will. John 21:18 describes this idea well.
Young leaders tend to do whatever they want to do. Old leaders refuse to do whatever they want to do and choose to do what is necessary. Leadership is not the freedom to do whatever we want to do but the responsibility to do what we must.
I hope this message helps you think like a leader, whether you’re a young leader or an old one.
