Road Trip Post #5
Today was officially day one of the road trip, and I wish it had gone better. My new cell phone didn’t like any of the charging cords that I brought with me, and it conked out after 3 hours with 3 more hours to go. It wasn’t the phone so much; it was the GPS that was crucial. In the middle of a nasty thunderstorm, I had to pull over, chuck the phone, and switch to the tablet. Thank goodness I had that tablet. I almost didn’t buy it.
The main highway was solid construction all across the state. But there was a silver lining. The hotel is just as nice as I remembered from 6 years ago, and there was a Verizon Wireless store just down the block then carried the charging cords that I need.
The museum I planned to visit tomorrow was supposed to be an hour away looking at a map. It’s actually four hours away which is going to throw off my travel schedule by a few hours, but it will be worth it to visit the museum. Life is like that sometimes.
For those of you who are concerned about my husband and his birthday, rest easy. I gave him his laser plinking kit last night and he absolutely loved it, as I knew he would.
The hotel is throwing a party tonight for all its guests and I am looking forward to it. Back tomorrow, love you all, Java.

Road Trip Post #4
The countdown for the big road trip is now in hours, not days. From here on out, every hour counts. I’ve had not one, but TWO “don’t forget” lists going for several weeks. Those lists don’t make me feel secure about conquering forgetfulness. What else am I fretting about? What should I wear to stay comfortable for 6 hours behind the wheel.
What do you worry about when getting ready for a trip? I’m guessing it’s not what to wear.

The Subaru is going; the dog is staying behind.

Update on Metal
Just wanted to let everyone know that I've heard back from my first beta reader for my next book, Metal. it was love at first read, I'm happy to report. Making some corrections, adding a chapter, and then on to the second beta reader.

Definition: Stowaway
We haven’t had a word definition in a while, so i thought I would post one. Today’s word is “stowaway.”
The Webster definition is simple: someone who hides on a ship, airplane, etc., in order to travel without paying or being seen. What’s amazing about this word is the drama and romance that follow it. A stowaway is an adventurer, a clever traveler, hidden, yet on the move. The stowaway is always in danger of discovery.
Some of the best works of fiction involve stowaways. Will they continue on? Will they be returned home? What kind of life awaits them, either ahead or behind?

Exercise on the road
Road Trip Post #3
I have good intentions. I bought a new bathing suit and new workout clothes (gotta love spandex) for my upcoming road trip. My intention is to use the pools and exercise rooms in the hotels where I will be staying. As I said, I have good intentions. My first act of exercise will be to drag my giant suitcase down from the attic.
Did I mention that I am a slob?
