Embarrassing Moment Challenge
I am challenging every one of you to share your most embarrassing road trip moment with the rest of us. I’ll start.
With apologies to all the men out there, my most embarrassing road trip moment took place in the ladies’ room. I was three hours away from my destination when I got my period suddenly (thank you, Menopause!). Not wanting to bleed on the seat of my new car, I raced into the nearest McDonald’s and ran directly to the ladies’ room. I was alone. I disrobed from the waist down and began to scrub out my clothes in the sink.
Enter a mom holding the hand of a little girl, with me in full view, naked from the waist down. I shrieked: “I’m not a weirdo! I got my period and I’m washing out the blood!” The mom calmly replied: “It’s happened to all of us,” and blithely walked herself and her little girl to the stalls.
The only thing more embarrassing would have been using the men’s room by mistake.

Road Trip Post #10 – The Return
The drive back from Ohio reminded me that I am in my 60s. It rained, and my arthritis kicked up, making me stop for stretches. Going home was anti-climactic, but nonetheless, it was still heading home, and that sounded good.
The homecoming reunion was a huge pile-up of husband, two dogs, and the cat. Our little family was reunited, and things were going to be normal again. The cat, in particular, has been extremely clingy. Mommy’s girl!
I hope you got a chance to see the photos from the America’s Packard Museum in Dayton, Ohio. I’ll be sending out another newsletter in the next few days to showcase the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum in Auburn, Indiana.

Road Trip Post #7
I need to tell you all that things are not going well at home. Just after I left, a tree fell on some power lines, leaving two entire neighborhoods without power, a situation that has not yet been remedied. My husband turned on our generator and it lasted for a day before it, too, conked out.
Bored to tears, with no entertainment and no lights, my husband was left with just two things to do: brush the loose fur off of two dogs and a cat, and/or talk to me on the phone. We talked more in just one night than we have in years. I learned several critical pieces of information. The first is that I need to get the generator fixed. The second is that our window casings are starting to rot away. The third is that my husband needs to retire soon for the sake of his sanity.
I’m missing alot by being away from home.

Road Trip Post #6
Yesterday went great. The downside of driving alone is that there is no one to take photographs along the way. I went through beautiful farm country in both Ohio and Indiana.
I took that four hour detour, and went to Dayton’s America’s Packard Museum. I was disappointed that the museum is so small, but their car collection is incredible. Even the oldest cars look like they just arrived at the showroom in mint condition. I took tons of pictures, but they will have to wait until I get to a real computer as opposed to this tablet that I’m using now.
After an additional 4 hours of driving, I made it to my ultimate destination. After checking in at the hotel, I was able to spend several hours visiting with my family, and also deliver the wedding gifts to my nephew. Now I have room in my car — breathing space.
Time for some breakfast. It’s going to be a great day.
