Dracian Legacy

Today, I'm hosting Priya Kanaparti and her recently released young adult book Dracian Legacy.   Be sure to stop at her website to visit some of the other blogs involved.  Be sure to read to the end and enter the rafflecopter to win.

1. Tell us something about your book that we wouldn’t know just by reading the blurb.

     a. That Ren is a nickname and her full name is Temperance.

 2. What’s your favorite non-essential item on your desk?

     a. My iPhone. I think I might have a problem…

3. What was the most challenging aspect of writing a novel?

 a. It has been trying to find the answers, answers to questions I know will come up in the future. It could be as simple as characters that show up in book 1 who will play a huge role in the future or simply the family members of the main characters that we have yet to meet.

 4. What's a typical day like for you?

     a. I actually work full-time as a Software consultant. Once I leave the work, then it’s play-time with my two year old son, Jay. And then around 8 or 9, I sit before my laptop, ready to immerse myself into my character’s world until I’m too tired to stay awake.

5. Besides writing, what do you like to do in your free time?

     a. I read. I read quite a lot actually. It helps me to relax and get creative with my own stories!

6. What was one of the most surprising things you learned when creating your book?

    a. That I sucked at writing. Okay, maybe not surprising, but shocking. After I finished my first draft that had been revised, by yours truly, I *cringes* actually submitted it to several agents and publishing companies. That was a horrible mistake. So I took the next 7 months to improve the book and find the right group of people that helped me make this book really awesome. But that’s my personal opinion. LOL.

7. Readers love a playlist to go along with the book… what’s the playlist for your book?

    a. I actually have created and you should check it out on my website. It as songs from several artists: One Republic, Enrique Iglesias, Cee Lo Green, Alex Care, Nouvelle Vague, Sixpence, One Direction, Michael Franti, Hunter Hayes, AND Cher Lloyd

 8. Top 10 Random Facts -

 Reply with first thought

a. Teeth whitening toothpaste or fresh breath? i. Fresh breath

 b. Favorite movie – EVERi. Pursuit of Happiness

 c. Do you think Dorothy was cruel when she threw the bucket of water on the witch?i. Heck NO! The Wicked Witch soooo deserved it =)

d. Favorite Candy? i. Twix

e. Love or Hate to cook?i. I’m on the fence. It depends on the day and my mood.

 f. If you love to cook - what’s your signature dinner?i. Butter Chicken. Seriously, I make a mean Butter Chicken =)

 g. If you don’t love to cook - what do you love to eat?i. *Smacks lips* Where do I start with this one… Cheesecake. I think I can live off that. That’s a food right? Probably not the right category of food, but… *shrugs*

 h. 99% of writers drink coffee - how many cups do you drink? i. I’m the 1%. I don’t drink coffee or tea. I actually prefer water with lemon.

i. What’s your favorite color of Jelly Beans to eat?i. The Popcorn one.

 j. Favorite dance song?i. Right now? One More Night by Maroon 5

 9. Where can we stalk you?

Mermaid's Curse - Daniele Lanzarotta

Synopsis:

Arianna always felt like she didn’t belong in the world where she was born.  Ever since she was little, she used to hide behind the rocks in the sea, and watch the human family who spent their summers on that island.  Over the years, there was nothing she wished more than to be like them, especially so she could get close to Blake, the human boy who she saw turn into a troubled teenager and then, an unhappy man.
Once her dad grew tired of her dreams and hopes for a reality that is not her own, Arianna is thrown into an arranged marriage, and her only way out of it is to make a deal with the power-hungry man who will give her everything that she has ever dreamed of.  Dreams that turn into nightmares as she watches Blake’s world fall apart, because of her and Blake’s inability to control their desires for one another.

BIO

That is her passion, and she now has several projects under way.

REVIEW

I'm not going to write another synopsis, just my views.  First, I must say I wasn't sure about the mermaid thing....but hey, I write about werewolves and they aren't my thing either.  Well slap me silly, what a fun read.  Mermaid loves human, who is engaged (or almost) to another human...to a sinister brother, a horrible man, a lovely child and pissed off ocean.  My kind of angst, romance, imagination, and rainy afternoon read.  It didn't rain for me, but rain would have made the mermaid thing that much better.  Although the book is NA, I would be comfortable with 14+ to read.  Just the right amount of love and dammit that cliff hanger!   Oh my!

For people that don't have an imagination and believe in love or paranormal tales (tails) of mermaids, you might want to steer clear.

I received an ARC of this book by the author in trade for an honest review.

My Rating = 5 fairies

All guys look the same to her eyes, all girls look the same too. Warren is the first human she's ever met, he's beautiful in every way on the inside. Foster's job is on the chopping block if he doesn't return the first seer in a hundred years. Will he return her to fulfill the prophecy, or will he be a risk taker for once in his life?

Young Adult Giveaway Hop

First, I'd like to thank I am a Reader, Not a Writer and Booklove 101 for having this hop. I'm giving away a signed copy of Enlightened, a young adult paranormal romance. Jessie Lucente, a Light Tamer, has started her junior year at Parca Academy in New Bern, NC. She has a new boyfriend, Caleb Baldwin. He is beyond good looking, he is her mate for life. They've been bound by the light and will rule and heal with it too. Her new classes aren't what she expected. Finding out the school is filled with 'gifted' kids is almost too much to comprehend. She finds out what it really means to be a Light Tamer. Some of the assumptions she had are debunked and now everything is crystal clear...well, clear as mud. Now that she is enlightened with the facts, she struggles with the truth. Thorne Woodson has all of the girls swooning. His Doc Martens and hoodie stand out against his school uniform. He might be the guy to heal Amber's broken, grieving heart. What's his story, and why does he appear everywhere Jessie is? He has a secret that will change the game for everyone. Who is he in cahoots with? Amber starts her junior year with a bang and a huge crush. She has a point to prove on the first day of school. She refuses to let everyone believe she went soft over summer break. Her shenanigans end with detention on the first day. The anniversary of her brother's death has her making dumb decisions but her friends have her back. Jessie will struggle to help Amber deal with the grief. The secrets that have been revealed by Fate will leave Jessie in a new role. It will all come down to bloodline versus logic. She must step up and embrace her new title, and life on the other side of the shimmer. With her small army together, they promise to vanquish Nyx back to the Underworld and seal the portal she came through. The second book in The Light Tamer trilogy will answer the questions that are burning in your head. A beautiful tale of first love and friendship. Be prepared to be amazed at the twist in this story. You didn't see it coming, but you'll be glad it did! a Rafflecopter giveaway

I am a small town girl I am a small town girl with big dreams. I grew up in a small coastal community called Pamlico County in the town of Reelsboro, North Carolina. Growing up in such a rural area there wasn't much to do, so I developed a wide fantasy finding solace in writing poetry and songs. After leaving high school I left my little secure coastal town to discover other parts of the country using life as my teacher. It was a sad and lonely time, but also a fun and exciting time in my life. I had too many emotions to process so I started to put it all down on paper. That became the start of my first novel, which I have yet to finish. A few years later I wrote my first complete novel entitled Protector. This novel was a dream come true, although I found out during the process, at 31 years old, I am dyslexic. Reading was always a struggle throughout my life and finding out why has really made a difference in me and my writing. Writing was such a wonderful and daunting process, but I have succeeded in doing something I never thought I would do. I have 4 novels published, Protect, Protect Me, Protect Us and Too Close To Home, with many more on the way. Writing is such a passion of mine and I hope my readers feel the love I put into my work. with big dreams.
