Deborah Cooke tells about the latest release in her Dragonfire series!
I am honored to welcome Deborah Cooke, one of my writing friends, to Mark of the Stars to tell us about her recent release, FLASHFIRE.

FLASHFIRE is the 7th book in my Dragonfire series of paranormal romances featuring sexy dragon shape shifter heroes called the Pyr. In each book of the series, one dragon dude meets his match in what's called a firestorm – he meets the human woman who can bear his son and sparks literally fly between them, until their relationship is consummated. The Pyr are also engaged in a battle for control of the world (the ultimate treasure) against the bad dragon shifters, who are called Slayers. They all feel the burn of the firestorm, and the Slayers are drawn to it, usually in an attempt to ensure that no more Pyr are made. These books are action-packed, filled with sex, romance and dragon fights. Each hero has a challenge on his hands (or claws) as he tries to both seduce the woman who lights the spark, defend her and explain the details of his nature to her. Often the heroine challenges the hero's expectations and ideas about love and partnership, which just gives him something else to juggle. I have a lot of fun writing these books!
I also like to mix things up a bit with each book. Each of my dragon shifter heroes so far has been a big fan of his dragon powers. (He might not be so big on the love, romance, and babies part of the firestorm, although they're all good with the sex.) Lorenzo, though, is different. He doesn't want to be a dragon shifter. He thinks his powers are barbaric and has no interest in further involvement with the other Pyr. When we meet him at the beginning of FLASHFIRE, Lorenzo has a plan – a professional illusionist with a big magic show in Las Vegas, he's planning the ultimate disappearing act. Even Erik, the leader of the Pyr, won't be able to find Lorenzo if all goes according to plan – and Lorenzo ensures that everything always does go according to plan.
Of course, he isn't expecting to have his firestorm at this most inconvenient moment. And you can probably guess that he's not a fan of all the Pyr and Slayers gathering to try to convince him to join their ranks. Lorenzo just wants to be alone. He decides to just satisfy the firestorm as quickly as possible, then continue with his plan.
But what Lorenzo really isn't counting on is Cassie Redmond, a woman who defies his every expectation and doesn't back away from a challenge – even one given by a dragon shifter. And after just one taste of Cassie, Lorenzo doesn't find being alone to be nearly so appealing of a prospect…

New Year Blog Hop – Memories & Giveaway!!
Welcome to Mark of the Stars! This year has already been super exciting for me, as I just released my third story, Unknown Futures yesterday. But more about that later.
First of all, thank you to Carrie Ann Ryan for organizing this blog hop!
Now, as part of the New Year Blog Hop, we are supposed to share our favorite New Year memory. Well, I have two.
The first happened on December 31, 1988. I received my first diary from my aunt. It is a place of heartfelt thoughts, and even poetry. Perhaps it was the beginning of my writing career. I laugh when I look back at the things I wrote though.
The second happened many years later. December 31, 1997. I went out to the bar with my cousin to celebrate New Year's Eve. She stopped to talk to one of the bouncers there. I didn't talk to him, but I do remember him well. In September of 1998, we started dating. Now we are married with two kids, and have spent every New Year's together since then. And the very last entry in my diary states, "He's the one!"
I wish you happiness and prosperity for 2012!

Unknown Futures
