Did I really see that?
Yes, I know I posted this on Facebook and Twitter last night, but I’m still so excited.
Last night when I visited the Space.com blog (I subscribe in Google Reader), I was checking out some of the video’s including Neil Armstrong’s “One small step” clip, when I saw something that made me squeal with excitement.
My book, The Zurian Child, was being advertised on the page. Wow, just wow! I think I stopped breathing for a moment. Then, before I passed out, I somewhat gained my bearings, then had to figure out how to take a screen shot. I knew if I reloaded, another ad would be up.
So, I finally figured it out after googling it, and here is the screenshot:
Thank you, Kobo, Space.com, and Silver Publishing!!

Six Sentence Sunday – Meet Jared Barnes from SUDDEN BREAKAWAY #sixsunday
Hello everyone! Thank you for coming to read another Six Sentence Sunday post!
Here’s another six from SUDDEN BREAKAWAY, set to release September 7.
Last week I introduced you to Paige Brown, the heroine. Today, meet Jared Barnes.
(blurb & more info here)
Jared shucked his towel and stroked his rigid cock. That woman made him hard every time she came to the door, trying to persuade him to sign up for the Space Service. Her claims had seemed far-fetched when she’d first approached him, yet his commander had confirmed her credentials, having been approached to join by another many years ago. While Jared would never add his thumbprint to the contract he’d read, he wouldn’t mind if she stopped by to try and convince him again.
Ms. Brown, with her black blazer revealing a hint of cleavage and a skirt that showed the perfect curvature of her ass. When she’d caught him coming out of the shower, he’d gripped the door handle to hold himself back from yanking her inside and tearing off her fine-pressed suit.

BOUNTY: An interview with author Krystal Brookes & #giveaway!!
It gives me great pleasure to have Krystal Brookes on my blog today to talk about her latest release, Bounty. Welcome Krystal!
KB: Thank you so much for inviting me.
Congrats on the release of Bounty! Can you tell us about your new release?
KB: Bounty was originally released as part of the Dangerous Men Dangerous Places Anthology from Pink Petal Books. It has just been released as a short novella. It is about a female bounty hunter in space who has some technical difficulties with her shuttle near the prison planet, ‘Alcaratraz.’ She has no choice but to crash her shuttle and hope for the best. She’s relieved to be rescued by a scary but generally kind guy called Rob. But then she realizes that she was the bounty hunter who captured him. She’s terrified of how he’ll react when he works out who she is.
Very intriguing! How long have you been writing with the hopes of publication?
KB: Bounty was actually my first submission. I wrote fan fiction for about a year before I tried my hand at original works. I saw that Pink Petal wanted short stories for an anthology, so I wrote one. I really didn’t expect it to get published.
How did you get started?
KB: I enjoyed creative writing at school and I loved English lessons until I was accused of plagiarism in an exam (I hasten to add I was not guilty). They told me the story I had written was ‘far too good for a 16 year old.’ So I didn’t bother after that. The in January 2011, a few friends and I were discussing Star Trek Voyager fan fiction on Facebook. I’d probably had too much to drink when I stated I was willing to try to write a fan fiction. I wrote it, there and then on one of my Facebook notes. Once I caught the writing bug, I couldn’t stop.
What genres do you write in, and what appeals to you about those genres?
KB: I write sci fi romance, contemporary romance and I’m dabbling in paranormal romance. I’m also writing a sci fi children’s book but if I get it published, it will be under a different pen name. I love that in sci fi and paranormal, the only thing that binds you is your imagination or lack thereof. If you decide your vamps are not going to be allergic to silver, than no one can say you’re wrong. I think I love contemporary because I love the idea that romance is all around us. And even I might find Mr Right one day.
What other titles do you have published?
KB: Highland Fling is the first novella in the Kilrigh Heat series and is a contemporary romance set in the Scottish Highlands. It tells of Fiona, a city vet who grew up on the island. She comes to Kilrigh for her friend’s wedding and meets back up with Brodie her old school friend. Sparks fly but she’s unwilling to give up city life.
Fan Girl and the Geek is a contemporary short story. It’s published as part of The Boys of Summer Anthology. It’s about Shona who goes to a convention to work. She’s really excited to meet the captain of the sci fi series that she liked. But he’s not what she imagined. Unlike Daniel, who was the show’s geeky kid when it aired (think Wesley Crusher). The individual book is due out on Sept 27th.
That’s a lot to keep you busy and very exciting. What are you working on now?
KB: “Highland Haven” – Kilrigh Heat series #2 (due out Oct 18th) and “Highland Hogmany” – Kilrigh Heat series #3 (Due out Dec 20th). My nanowrimo sci fi erotic novel called “When in Rodomir,” and a naughty fairytale.
Are you a plotter or a pantser?
KB: Definitely a pantser. I can’t plot to save myself.
What genres do you enjoy reading?
KB: All romances except horror. I’m getting really into ménage stories. I may have to start writing them. Comedies and general sci fi too.
Menages are fun to write! Where can my readers find you?
On Twitter: My handle is @krystalbrookes
On Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Krystal-Brookes-Author/305059372898922 – Feel free to friend me too. I’m just Krystal Brookes.
I also started up a new romance forum. It’s a bit new and quiet at the moment. http://betweenthesheets.proboards.com/index.cgi
Where can my readers find your books?
KB: http://pinkpetalbooks.com , http://www.allromanceebooks.com/ http://www.bookstrand.com/ http://www.smashwords.com/ and of course Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
Thank you so much for visiting us today!
Bounty by Krystal Brookes
sensual science fiction romance
When Gemma Scott’s shuttle crash lands onAlcatrazprison planet, she’s sure of one thing: if the impact doesn’t kill her, the inmates will. She wakes up in the hut of a convicted terrorist and wonders how long it will be until the handsome but dangerous man discovers she was the one who arrested him two years earlier. As their attraction grows, they work together to help Gemma escape the dangerous planet. But they can’t deny the sparks that fly between them.
Excerpt:
When she had finished her food and Rob had cleaned everything away, he brought her bag to her. She retrieved her hairbrush and handed it to him. He gently and carefully undid the elastic that was holding her messy blonde hair back. He brushed her hair in long slow strokes, carefully fixing the knots and tangles as he went. Eventually, the brush glided through her hair unhampered. He sectioned it off and started to braid the hair.
“You’re very good at this. How did you learn to braid hair?” She could feel his breath on the back of her neck and she shuddered involuntarily.
“I used to do it for Rosie.”
“Rosie? Is she a wife, girlfriend?”
“No. My daughter.”
“You have a daughter?”
“Had. Past tense. She and my wife were killed in a terrorist attack on Dallag Prime two years ago.”
“Dallag Prime?”
“Yes. I’m sure you remember it. And I’m sure you have already realized that I was sentenced to life here for having planted the bomb.”
“I’m not sure I had made the connection.”
“Well, just in case you were wondering, I didn’t do it. I’m far from perfect but I never killed innocent civilians.”
“Did you ever kill non-civilians?”
Silence. A silence that spoke volumes to Gemma. But then, she was in no position to judge. A couple of times she’d been forced to kill those she hunted in self-defense. He had probably been a soldier in the Terran-Varsi war.
He tied the elastic at the bottom of the braid and climbed back off the bed.“That should be better for you.”
“Thanks.” She patted her hair and realized it was much neater than she could ever make it.
“I think you should sleep now. If you move right against the wall, there should be room for both of us.”
“You’re going to sleep in here too?” She couldn’t share a bed with Rob. Apart from the fact he was a convicted terrorist, when he was near her she could feel her body responding to him.
“They forgot to leave me a guest room as well as the six piece dinner service.” His voice dripped with sarcasm. “Don’t worry, Ms. Scott. I’m a convicted terrorist, not a rapist.”
“I… I .. I didn’t mean that. I…”
“I know what you were thinking. I don’t hurt women, no matter what they do for a living.”
Gemma felt her jaw drop and her eyes widen. He did know who she was. She was sure of it.

Erotic Happy Endings – Spring Into Summer by Eden Baylee
It gives me great pleasure to welcome erotic romance author, and fellow Canadian, Eden Baylee to my blog today. Last month, her second collection of erotic novellas released, and she is here to tell us about them. Take it away Eden!
I’m thrilled to be on Jessica’s blog to talk about my latest book, Spring into Summer — a book of four erotic novellas, two that take place in the spring and two in the summer.
Earlier this year, I interviewed Jessica, and she revealed her motto as “Because everyone in the universe deserves a happily ever after…”
I love happy endings too—in real life, but I don’t always write them into my stories—at least not in the traditional sense.
In “The Lottery,” the last story of my book, I do write about happy endings. The plot takes place in Pattaya, Thailand, a tourist spot with go-go bars, nightclubs, and massage parlors. I love massages and find them both therapeutic and sensual. They can relax and re-energize, and yes, they can certainly provide a happy ending.
If you’d like to read more about my definition of happy endings, I’d be thrilled if you picked up a copy of my book.
Thanks Jessica for giving me some space on your great site to share about Spring into Summer with your readers. I really appreciate it.
~~~~~
About the book
In Spring into Summer, a collection of emotionally-charged erotic novellas, four women explore their sexual limits, marked by love, lust, and loss.
Life for Claire Pelletier is changed forever when she meets a professor who teaches her a most important lesson in “A Season for Everything.”
Evelyn Sutton goes in search of a man in “Unlocking the Mystery” and discovers the key to her own heart.
With an open mind, Ava Connors attends a party but wonders if reality can ever live up to her hottest fantasies in “Summer Solstice.”
In “The Lottery,” Sierra Zhao sacrifices herself to numerous men to help a friend, fully aware of the consequences.
With locations in London, Dublin, Cape Cod, and Bangkok, these four women will seek pleasure to alter their lives and push their sexual boundaries.
Six Sentence Sunday – Intro to SUDDEN BREAKAWAY, a 1Night Stand story #sixsunday
Hello everyone! Thank you for coming to read my Six Sentence Sunday post!
I know I gave you a taste of Alien Adoration last week, but with a new release set for September 7, I’m going to share some excerpts from that.
Today I’m sharing the beginning six from SUDDEN BREAKAWAY
(blurb & more info here)
Ms. Brown. Everyone knew her by that name, or at least those she tried to recruit for the Space Service. For once, though, she wanted to be someone else, maybe herself. If she could shed the black designer suit and lose the title, she could simply be Paige.
The moment she’d signed the contract with the top-secret organization, she’d left Paige and the life she knew behind. Living in the shadows had been easy with her husband by her side, until agents destroyed the portal to the space station to keep terrorists from getting their hands on alien technology.
The Most Wonderful Time of the Year – Guest Post by Wendi Zwaduk
It gives me great pleasure to welcome Wendi Zwaduk back to my blog.
The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
by Wendi Zwaduk
No, not Christmas, although I do enjoy Christmas. No, it’s back to school time! I want to thank Jessica for having me here. I love guesting at the different blogs and Jessica is such a sweet host, I had to come back.
Now about that time of the year I love so much. Back to School time. I love it, but not for the reasons you might think. Of course, I do enjoy when the small person goes back and the routine I love so much is restored. I get more done on the peripheral side. The EDJ doesn’t seem to take as long and there aren’t the vacations that can mess up the flow. I love a good vacation, but when you have a routine, it can be a pain.
The reason I love this time of the year is the shopping. All those boxes and displays of back to school items. I’m a sucker for the school supply aisle. The notebooks, pencil cases, papers, and the folders. It’s all my favorite. It’s also a means for saving money. Not for the supplies I need for the small person, although that does help with the budget. No, it’s a means to save me money on my things. I collect notebooks like kids used to collect baseball cards. Each one is a place to jot down notes on my stories and if they look cool, all the better.
There’s a thrill in finding just the right notebook, too. One that’s got an interesting cover, the lines are the right space apart, there’s little spaces for notations on the pages…oh yeah, I look at all that stuff.
Last year I had the ultimate score. I love the Beatles. They are one of my favorite bands of all time. Last year, amongst the teenage idols and cartoon characters, there were hardback notebooks graced by the Beatles. I snapped up every one of the different cover images they had. They looked great and no one seemed to question what I was writing in them. That is until I took it to a craft show. The snicker of it was that particular notebook I had the notes for a particularly raunchy story. I left the notebook on the table in the back where I kept my drink, the mints and pencils for remarking prices. Apparently it was the prime location for people to snap it up in case it was the latest book about the Fab Four. I still snicker. If anyone found the raunchy parts, they never said so.
But this is the fun of the season. This year the score is a notebook with different locations, Paris, Rome, etc, on them. I’ve already used two. Grin.
How about you? What is your favorite time of the year? Why? I’d love to know.
GIRL MOST LIKELY TO: An interview with Romance Author, Barbara Elsborg & Giveaway!
It give me great pleasure to welcome Barbara Elsborg to my blog today. Barbara, can you tell us about your latest release?
BE: My new release is Girl Most Likely To published by Ellora’s Cave. It’s the story of Wren who works at a language school in Leeds in the north of the UK. Twice in one day she’s knocked flat on her back, first by Tomas, who’s working undercover and pretending not to speak English very well, secondly by Adam, who’s on a break from his job and out to learn a new language. All three of them want each other but of course the path of love never does run smoothly. There’s much more of a romantic suspense feel to this book than my others.
What was your inspiration for this story?
BE: The inspiration from the story came from one of my previous books – Kiss a Falling Star. The hero of Kiss applies for a job with Adam and gets it. I only introduced Adam at the end of the story but I think after I’d had him set fire to his shoes in the microwave, I suspected he’d star in a book of his own. Adam’s advert for a person-Friday was based on fact. An actual ad in the paper made by a guy who’d become a millionaire through internet dating. The advert was hilarious but sadly both the millionaire and the man who got the job both died in a helicopter crash several years ago. I persuaded my daughter to apply for the job. I’m glad she didn’t get it!
Yes. Oh my gosh. How long have you been writing with the hopes of publication?
BE: I’ve been writing too many years to count. I always wanted to be published and my first novel was sent out to many many places and gathered many many rejections. It wasn’t until I changed genres that I was successful. From thriller to romance. But I broke all the rules about how to get published. I’d never read a published erotic romance before I wrote one. I’d read a critique partner’s story- but that was all. I’d never read an Ellora’s Cave book but I sent my story – Perfect Timing – to them and it was accepted. It’s the story of Daisy who turns up for what she thinks is a party set in the 1960s and it turns out the party is for the over 60s.
It was only later that I came to realize I don’t write typical erotic romance. I think my books are more straight forward romance with the sex enhanced. In other words they don’t have a sensual or erotic plot in the way something like 50 Shades has. I write what I like to read.
It works, and I enjoy it. What are you working on now?
BE: I’m waiting to hear whether an MM submission called Every Move He Makes has been accepted by Samhain but at the moment I’m working on a MF paranormal called Jumping in Puddles. It’s set in an English stately home that’s no longer stately. The guy who lives there has to get it ready for his brother’s wedding and he’s hindered and helped by Ellie who has her own reasons for being at the house apart from her attraction to the hero, Jago. About half written. I have no idea what’s going to happen. I plot and plan nothing. Which makes it fun to write but often frustrating when I have to backtrack and add details. But one of the themes is duty and responsibility. Jago feels it to his family, so does Ellie and I just realized so does another guy who I’ve mentioned but not written about yet. I hadn’t planned that connection but I’m thrilled it’s there.
What genres do you enjoy reading?
BE: I read almost anything. I like to keep changing to different types of stories and I read two or three or four at the same time. For instance, I’m reading a book about a roman centurion on the bike at the gym, a thriller called The Bird Yard – if I get chance to sit in the sun, and by the bed is a chick lit book and also Snowdrops – a book set in Russia. I don’t like hard core horror or technical sci fi or memoirs including autobiographies but I’ll give most things a try.
What author(s) have influenced your writing style?
BE: I’m not sure who’s influenced my writing style. I’ve read thousands and thousands of books. I read very fast – I’m not a thorough reader in that I might not remember the names of characters when I’ve finished but I will remember the story! I like the writers who’re funny. Not necessarily funny books, but just elements of humor in the story – so Jenny Crusie, Mary-Janice Davidson, Susan Elizabeth Philips. I like the more thoughtful chick lit type books – Adele Parks, Lisa Jewell, Fiona Walker. And I like thrillers by Mo Hayer, Mark Billingham, Karin Slaughter. So I guess my style has to have been developed through the variety of books I read. I hope I’m unique!
What is the best piece of advice you would give to aspiring authors?
BE: To aspiring authors I’d say – keep reading. I hear so many say they don’t have time. Make time!! You learn as much from reading as you do from actually writing.
Where can we find you?
BE: You can find me on my website www.barbaraelsborg.com and my blog www.barbaraelsborg.blogspot.com. I’m on Facebook under Barbara Elsborg and Twitter too with no space. I love to hear from readers and I always respond.
Where can we find your books?
BE: My books are published by Ellora’s Cave, Samhain, Loose-ID and Decadent Publishing. Plus one short story with Ravenous Romance and two stories in free anthologies.
Thank you so much for visiting me today, Barbara!
