Six Sentence Sunday: Colonel Jones inspects her new squadron in Made For Her #SixSunday
Hello and thank you for coming to read my Six Sentence Sunday post!
Eek! 2013 is only two days away! Where did the year go?
Today, I’m sharing another six from MADE FOR HER, a military sci-fi erotic romance set to release January 15, 2013 from Decadent Publishing.
Colonel Mikayla Jones has left the presentation and is now inspecting her new squadron. Daniel is her late husband who was killed in a bomb attack at the first Onatria lab
before it was moved to Geneva.
The first generation of clones didn’t live long enough to become cadets. Their hearts gave out within a year after incubation. But the scientists at Onatria had plowed on, utilizing more of Daniel’s research, speeding up the aging process with hormones to create the perfect generation she saw before her.
She’d had female clones in previous squadrons, but the government filled the one in front of her with testosterone-driven masculinity. If she’d been younger, she’d have a hard time concentrating. But her days of crushes and fantasies were long over.

Excerpt:
The white sands and the deep-blue sea of Cable Beach never ceased to amaze me. As a child we’d visited Broome a couple of times for family holidays, though we had a pond at home, it was nothing compared to the ocean.
As I admired the scenery around me, I saw a camel train headed my way. Of all the things I’d experienced on previous visits to Broome, a camel ride wasn’t one of them. I decided I’d correct that on my trip.
Just as the camels passed by, the wind whipped something at my face. It scared the crap out of me. At once I grabbed the item and held it out in front of me—a straw hat. I searched around for an owner.
When I glanced up, I saw a stunning, petite brunette looking down at me from her seat on one of the camels. She appeared very apologetic as the camel train continued to move forward. I ran to catch up with the sluggish animals and I handed the hat back to the beautiful woman, feeling lucky I was tall enough to reach.
“Thank you,” she said as she tried to shake my hand.
It worried me she might fall off the camel as she reached for my hand, so, I just waved her away and said, “You’re welcome.”
I watched the camels continue up the beach for a little ways before I resumed my walk.
As I walked along the beach, every now and then, the waves lapped on to my feet. My mind wandered to the brown haired beauty perched on the camel’s back. I could tell from her thank you she had an Aussie accent. I wondered where she was from, or if I would ever see her again. If ever there were a woman whose beauty optimised what I viewed as perfection, she would be it. Her beauty was natural and understated, not marred by tonnes of make-up. And, although she was by no means fat, she wasn’t one of those stick thin girls you see with absolutely no curves. I wasn’t one to shy away from the fact I liked my women with curves.
I walked for about an hour then sat down on the beach and watched the red and yellow colours dance across the sky as the sun sank below the horizon.
After a while, I became hungry so I headed back to the hotel to grab some dinner at the restaurant.
One of the main things I looked forward to during my holiday was the chance to eat something other than meat and vegetables for dinner. Don’t get me wrong, my mum was a great cook and no one did a better steak and mash than her. However, they say variety is the spice of life and I planned to spice up my life with many different dishes.
I headed back to my room to change before dinner. After a quick shower to rid myself of the salt from the beach, I pulled on a pair of well-worn jeans and a button-down shirt. I rolled the sleeves up to my elbows and on my way out the door, I grabbed the book I brought to read while I ate.
Though dining alone wasn’t one of my favourite things, I’d done it quite a few times. After the first couple of times I sat bored and twiddled my thumbs as I waited for my food, I now found time passed quicker if I had a book to read. This time around, I’d brought with me the latest John Grisham novel.
After ordering deep fried Camembert and cranberries for entrée and garlic butter lobster for the main course, I opened my book and began to read. I’d only read a few lines when I heard a very quiet, “Excuse me.”
When I looked up from my book, I expected to see a waitress with my entrée but instead, I saw the gorgeous woman from earlier. “Hi?” I said.
“It looks like you’re eating alone. Would you mind if I joined you?”
Stunned that she asked to sit with me, it took a few seconds for my thoughts to catch up. All I managed to say was, “Of course.”
“I’m Mia Mason,” she said as she took the seat opposite me and held her hand out to me.
“Michael Dunbar,” I replied as I shook her hand.
The moment we touched, I felt a strange, yet pleasurable sensation move up my arm and quickly spread throughout my body.
“Nice to meet you.” A cheeky grin lit up her face—as if she knew a secret nobody else did.

Six Sentence Sunday: A first glance at the clone labs in Made For Her #SixSunday
Hello and thank you for coming to read my Six Sentence Sunday post!
For those who celebrate, Christmas is only two days away! My kids are very anxious.
And just over a week until the new year. Where did the days go?
I still have some projects to finish before the end of the month.
Anyways, today, I’m sharing six from MADE FOR HER, a military sci-fi erotic romance that releases January 15, 2013 from Decadent Publishing.
Colonel Mikayla Jones is giving a presentation to the public
regarding clones and the military.
When Mikayla switched the display to the live feed from Onatria’s main lab in Geneva, she cringed at the collective gasp. Robotic arms transferred material between petri dishes at various stations while other, more complex equipment dissected strains of DNA. Human-born and clones alike wore white lab coats and watched new life grow under their telescopes. And in a glass-walled clean room, casket-like clear chambers held young clones attached to a multitude of tubes. Except for the military and Onatria staff, this was the first time anyone had seen the labs. The government had grown desperate for people to enlist.

Are You Prepared? – What is a Bug-Out Bag?
Guest post by D.L. Jackson
Before writing Finding Mercy, I knew what it was, just not what should go in it.
For instance, you should have emergency supplies packed and ready for 72 hours, the average time it takes to get situated in a shelter or to a safe location. Many preppers keep these bags in their vehicles, while others have them both at home and in their vehicles. Some practice hiking with them, so they are able to carry them in the event of a disaster and an evacuation is needed.
Here are a few items you might want to include in your bag:
Important documents and photographs backed up on flash drives or disks. These can include birth certificates, banking documents, deeds and titles. Insurance contact information is also important to include, as you might not be able to go back and retrieve the data and might have to file a claim from a distance.
Credit cards, debit cards and a means to access you bank accounts.
Change of clothes for 72 hours.
Basic first aid kit.
Water. Food for 72 hours.
Any prescription medications.
Charger for your cell phone. You can get solar arrays fairly cheap online and they will provide enough power to charge laptops and cell phones in the event of an emergency.
Flashlights
Radios—for communicating and a small radio to listen to weather reports if you don’t have a cell phone that is accessible.
Sturdy walking shoes or boots.
Cold weather clothing like hats and mittens, or bug repellant for summer weather.
A tooth brush, toothpaste, brush, baby wipes and wash cloth. Small children my require additional items like diapers.
Phone numbers for family members, physicians and anyone else you may need to contact. This is important if you can’t get your phone to work. At least you can contact them to let them know you are okay when you get to safety and can get access to a phone.
There are so many various items that you might need, that are not on this list, but each individual is different. A small child may have a favorite blanket or toys that you might want to include to keep them calm, or an elderly adult may have needs not addressed above. Try to think of what you can’t live without for 72 hours, and pack it. Assist family members in putting together their packs, to make sure they are not forgetting anything.
This year, hurricane Sandy brought home the importance of preparing for emergencies. To many, “this will never happen to me,” did, and they continue to struggle in the wake of the storm, weeks after Sandy crippled the eastern seaboard. Disaster can strike anywhere, anytime. Are you prepared?
In Finding Mercy, the town of Evan’s Point Wyoming is flattened by tornadoes. In the wake of the disaster, those that chose to stay and rebuild, ban together and form a prepping community, so that lives would not be lost again in the future because they were unprepared.
My hopes are that I have brought you a story you’ll enjoy, and something to think about, and perhaps act on, if you haven’t already.

You’ll die in three minutes without oxygen. Three hours without shelter. Three days without water. Three weeks without food. But could you live a lifetime with a broken heart?
Mercy Evans has come to Evans Point hoping to collect herself and find a way to resurrect her career as an anchorwoman for Cheyenne’s news station. Sergeant Justin Redway has come to Evans Point to try to forget his past and survive what he’s done.
When two worlds collide, one of a battle damaged veteran, the other of a desperate woman who will go to any extreme to get his story, sparks fly and old wounds open. When the chasm between the fated lovers finally opens, it might be too big to cross.
One town, two lovers, and a second chance at finding mercy.
Excerpt:
Evans Point, Wyoming
June 28th, 2010
If he didn’t know better, he’d think the end of the world had arrived. Will Evans tightened his grip on Bear’s and Sadie’s leashes and tuned in for any cries for help. The fresh smell of rain mixed with the industrial stink of spilled fuel and the ozone from a nearby lightning strike pounded reality home.
Even though they’d merely begun, his bones ached. Fifteen years before, he would’ve torn through the wreckage and pulled out survivors without hesitation. Now, he could only survey the destruction and fight the tears that tugged on his eyes. The scene brought back another time he couldn’t stomach, when he’d seen the Grim Reaper rip a hole between life and death, as he’d done this day.
The storms had hit with ferocity, in the middle of the night, without warning. The roaring of the beast had woken some, but not all. Those alerted had rushed for cover in their basements and cellars and now searched for those who were not as lucky. This was all that remained of the downtown after six tornadoes had torn through Evans Point. In all his eighty-four years, Will had seen only one other battlefield like it.
He swallowed and searched his soul for courage. There would be bodies among the rubble, but hopefully, there would also be living. He had to believe to continue, even though he found his faith tested.
So much carnage. Scanning the brightening horizon, he took in the destruction. Brick buildings were blown apart. Vehicles lay on their rooftops, dripping gasoline and other fluids. Even a pickup had been skewered on a flagpole like one of the carousel horses he’d ridden as a child at the fairground. A toy truck lay at his feet, its red paint bright and clean like it was fresh from the

Doomsday? Death’s Ready to Party! Guest post by Cate Masters

The Apocalypse? No worries. Death has you covered. But no, it’s not today. All that fuss was for nothing. Life goes on – for most of us. To celebrate, Death’s throwing an Apocalypse – NOT! bash on my Facebook group. I hope you’ll join in tonight from 7:00 to 9:00 PM here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/388242967924575/
Would Death have been able to handle a sweeping harvest of souls? Hell yeah. If you’ve read Death Is A Bitch, you know those charms on her silver bracelet are more than decorative. They’re the tools of her trade. A few are mentioned in the story, but there’s one that’s top secret. The Doomsday charm. One press of that, and whoosh – all of humanity would enter the Afterlife.
The master Inksman Malean added a special feature to Death’s tattoo for the occasion. Eventually, there will be an End of Days, and the flood of souls through the tattoo would overwhelm her if not for the kill switch Malean added. Yes, Malean loved that pun. He has a black sense of humor.
I’d planned this special soiree for weeks, but after last week’s tragic shootings in Connecticut, I hesitated to go through with it. I decided to, after realizing that the character I created for Death had a soft spot for children. She found it difficult to harvest their souls, and so pampered them. A Death with heart? Yes, I really needed her to be tough but tender, too.
Part of the reason had to do with my parents. I lost them both during the past few years, and one of the scenes pays homage to my Dad, who was left behind after my Mom died. He wanted so badly to see her again, he was ready to die. The scene with Harry and Jo pays tribute to their love, unrestrained by boundaries such as time and the line between life and death. So it was a comfort to create a Death who was caring rather than the stereotypical skeleton with a scythe.
Mythology and humor play into Death Is A Bitch as well. I hope you’ll enjoy reading it!
Available from Decadent Publishing.
By the way, this month it’s half price at Coffee Time Romance!!
Here’s the video:

Eternity can suck when it’s all work, work, work. Death harvests souls even when they stack up faster than pancakes in an all-you-can-eat-buffet. No wonder she can’t shed the Grim Reaper rep.
As the patron angel of death and dying, Azrael works closely with Death but is dying for true intimacy. She’s the only immortal who’s ever aroused such powerful emotions in him. One taste of her leaves him needing her like humans need air and food, but will a demon’s lies leave a bad taste?
No one escapes Death – except King Sisyphus. Twice. With the help of Damien the demon, Sisyphus tries again, and she’s determined to have justice. Some say Death’s a bitch, but only when she has to be. But will the price of justice be a broken heart?

Two Men and a Virgin by Kate Richards
A Review by Mrs. JoAnna Clause
I recently had the opportunity to read Two Men and a Virgin by Kate Richards. Actually, I took it away from a gaggle of sniggering elves. While I would ordinarily never read such smut, it is my responsibility as the moral compass for all personnel at the Pole to find out what sort of reading matter has slipped through the “elf filter” my husband had installed by the tech department.
I expected some sort of shenanigans, pranks, maybe some heavy petting, but when I realized what I had come across, I feared for the sanity of our toy-making staff! And I quote.
“…she planned to have sex with both of them. Many times.”
I read on, only for the good of our staff. The heroine, Andie has brought her two best friends, unknowing she intended to have her evil virgin way with them, practically to our very front door. Castillo Lodge in Castle, Alaska, is, after all, our nearest neighbor. I’ve had cocoa there many times! It’s Mr. Claus’s favorite place to get away from it all.
To think that this scandalous behavior could have been happening when we were there! We weren’t of course…it is our busy season…but what if we had been! Santa isn’t a young man anymore, after all.
However, to be fair, I could certainly see how the young lady would have a hard time choosing between two such handsome, successful men. Santa himself had quite the physique once upon a time and we had a steamy romance and the honeymoon! Whew, don’t get me started. Why, I had no idea the man was so flexible and he actually isn’t too bad now.
I think I will bring this story along when we take our post-Christmas vacation at the Lodge. Just so Santa can see what his mischievous elves have been up to…and maybe a little inspiration wouldn’t hurt the old gentleman. I still say the elves don’t need to be reading such things, but maybe…for my dear, dear, hardworking husband and I…
I give this book a whole bowlful of candy canes!
If you’d like to enter to win a copy of Two Men and a Virgin, leave a comment! What do you think? Suitable reading for Mr. and Mrs. Claus?
Kate Richards blog: http://katerichards.wordpress.com

Andie’s first trip to the 49th state is not just for sightseeing. She’s emptied her bank account to bring the two men of her dreams to Castillo Lodge, in Castle, Alaska for a Christmas Eve date of a lifetime. Only…they don’t know their date is also their best friend from back home.
Paul and Rex were delighted to “win” a date from Madame Eve, although they were surprised to find there had been a contest. Still, they plan to make the most of their time away, skiing, dogsledding…romancing a mysterious woman who is looking for two sexy guys for a night of over-the-top passion. A stranger with whom they can be themselves, and not have to hide their secret.

Excerpt:
Rex stumbled until the armchair hit the back of his knees and he dropped into it. “Andie?”
Paul scrambled to his feet. “How did you get here? Are you here for the holidays, too? Do you—oh no, you didn’t win a date, too, did you?”
She looked back and forth between them, tension in her jaw he’d never seen before. “No, I didn’t.” Tucking her legs up onto the ledge, she wrapped her arms around them and rested her chin on her knees. She muttered something.
“What?” Paul loomed over her like an interrogator. “I couldn’t hear you.”
“I said—” She dropped her stockinged feet to the floor and rose to her full height of five foot two. “I am your date. Both of yours.” Her helpful clarification sent Rex’s heart into the pit of his stomach in shock.
He moved closer. “What are you talking about? Do your folks know where you are?”
“I’m not a child, Rex, of course they don’t know where I am. But I did tell them I had plans for the holidays.” She brought her gaze up to his, and he fought not to smile at her set jaw or her hands fisted on her hips.
“This is impossible…a mistake.”
“I’m sorry you feel that way.” Her defiant stare belied the tremor in her voice, and he longed to comfort her, but was too stunned to behave like a normal person. “I thought we could spend a nice Christmas Eve together, the three of us, but I guess I can see if they have a room in the lodge available.” She reached for her boots.
“Don’t be silly.” His mind raced, trying to assimilate her presence and determine the right way to respond. “You just surprised us.”
