What Defines You?
Guest Post by author Chandra Ryan
I’m big on definitions. Not the meaning of words, although my kids are always asking me for them. But on the moments, decisions, and values that shape us into the people we are. In the past I’ve blogged about the moment I knew my husband and I would be able to face the challenges of life together. And I’ve written about my mother and her common sense advice, which has always kept me grounded in moments of crisis. But this blog isn’t about me nor is it about the factors that shaped me into the person I’ve become. This blog is about my most recent heroine, Dr. Lisa Colt and what defines her.
It’s probably no huge surprise that, like most people who’ve worked, sacrificed and studied to get the title “doctor” placed in front of their name, it’s her job. As a geneticist for the government, she had no life outside of her lab. No life, that is, until she went on vacation and had a brief fling that would change everything. On that vacation she fell in love with a man named Ben and ended up pregnant with their son, Nate. But her job destroyed any chance the relationship might have. So when she loses her job and is thrown in prison by the people she’d sacrificed so much for, she’s left to question everything about her life. Including how she’s always defined herself. And now she wants more.
When she’s given the chance at a fresh start, will she choose an old flame or a new love to keep her warm at night? Or will the men make that choice for her?
Shared Objective
Universal Defiance, Book Two
by Chandra Ryan
When Lisa and her son are rescued from a military prison, one look at the genetically altered mercenary who carries her to freedom puts some racy ideas into her head. Dixie is strong, handsome and kind, an unfamiliar combination. Her job as a government geneticist usually sends men running, not rushing to her aid.
Unfortunately Dixie isn’t alone. Lisa’s ex, Ben, is another member of the Coalition, the band of rebels fighting against the government that locked up Lisa. After their split two years ago, she never thought she’d have to face his scorn again. But now she has to work with him without giving in to old temptations. Or so she thinks.
The men need her for her genetics skills. When they discover they’re both attracted to her, they have to find a way to share or risk destroying their friendship. And Lisa finds that two sets of sexy hands all over her body are hotter than one.
Inside Scoop: This ménage features a kiss between two men that sparks a plan to steal a woman’s heart.
A Romantica® futuristic erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave
Read An Excerpt:
“A lover’s genetic status wasn’t important to you?” He looked at her skeptically. “Forgive me if I call bullshit on that one. I’ve had women stand up and move to the other side of trains to avoid being near me. I don’t even want to tell you what they’d do to avoid being under me.”
The loneliness that haunted his eyes was something she could easily relate to. Suddenly wanting to comfort him, she reached across the table and let her hand rest on top of his. “Believe it or not, being a geneticist for the government doesn’t exactly have men beating down my bedroom door either.” She ran her thumb over his hand affectionately. “That’s probably why I never tell anyone what I do—did—for a living. It got to where I couldn’t stand the wariness in their eyes. Like if they fell asleep they’d wake up in a lab somewhere.”
He cocked his head and studied her a little more closely. “Did you ever tell Ben that?”
She looked down as she remembered the fight they’d had. “It’s hard to see your enemy as anything else.”
“But you said it didn’t matter to you.”
She glanced over at Nate as he shifted in his sleep. “Ben was never my enemy. I, however, was his before I ever said hello.”
“You two are going to have to work together. I can order him to be civil. But you don’t exactly fall under my jurisdiction.” He looked down at her hand as if it were an alien entity. “Will you be okay with that arrangement?”
“Will we be working together a lot?” She didn’t hate Ben but she wasn’t fond of the way he looked at her and talked to her with disdain.
“As much as it pains me to admit, Ben is the brains of this group.” Dixie shifted nervously and, for the first time since they’d met, looked uncomfortable. “He’s going to be assisting you.”
“I’ve already perfected the procedure. I don’t need an assistant, just a laboratory to work in.”
He took a heavy breath in and released it slowly. “Okay, he’s not assisting so much as…” His words died as he looked away from her uncomfortably again. It was then that the pieces slid together for Lisa.
No longer feeling the need to comfort him, she pulled her hand away. “Keeping an eye on me and double-checking my work.”
Dixie had the grace to look guilty before he nodded.
“I see.” She stood slowly and walked over to the door before turning back to look at him. “Say what you will about Ben, but at least he’s always been straightforward. His feelings about me are the same to my face as they are behind my back.” She opened the door and gestured into the night. “If you don’t mind. I’ve had a long day and tomorrow is going to be,” she rubbed her temple with her free hand as a headache bloomed, “difficult.”
He rose gracefully from the table and crossed the room in quick, even strides. “I understand.” He stopped when he stood in the doorway. “Before I go, though, I want you to know that having Ben verify your findings wasn’t my idea.”
She continued to rub her temple as he spoke. “Well, it sure as hell wasn’t Ben’s. He’s under the impression we’re not going to be seeing each other anymore. He’s pretty damn happy about that too.”
“I know. I’m going to clear up that misunderstanding as soon as I leave here.” He ran a finger down her cheek until it rested under her chin and then forced her to look up at him. “At the end of the day, he and I are both just soldiers fighting someone else’s war. This order goes over either of our heads.”
For one moment Lisa thought he might kiss her. Which was ridiculous. They’d only just met. And, though she’d been told she was pretty, she couldn’t be considered beautiful on her best days. With everything she’d been through, today could easily be considered one of her worst and she probably showed it. She shuddered to think of how she must look after weeks of captivity and her rescue. Still, he hovered over her and his gaze locked with hers.
In that moment, staring into his green eyes, she saw his loneliness mirror hers and almost wished he would kiss her. Only, that would make her the whore Ben called her. Wouldn’t it?
Before she could worry any further about the implications of wanting to kiss him, he smiled. “You look worried. Tell me, do I frighten you?”
“No.” A shiver swept through her but it had nothing to do with fear. His smile made her focus on his mouth and staring at his mouth brought back the desire to be kissed.
“Are you sure?” Instead of stepping back and giving her space, he braced one arm above her on the doorjamb and leaned even closer to her.
Yep. It wasn’t fear she was feeling. If she had to give it a name, she’d call it anxiousness. That fluttery feeling she’d get in the pit of her stomach when she knew everything was about to change. “I’m sure.”
“Good. I like you.” He stared at her for another moment before pushing away from the doorjamb. “I’d like to think the feeling is mutual.” He turned and then took several steps into the night.

Today, I come before the esteemed
Seers of Future Atrocities
(aka, SOFA) to submit a nightmare occurrence that could happen sometime soon unless actions are taken to prevent it.
Trent Lancaster could clone himself
I know, he looks harmless right?
Think again my friends. Think again.
The problem is he has the behavioral habits of a three-year-old and he’s a billionaire, so he’s never had to curtail he bad behaviors. Also, he can afford cloning himself.
This is what could happen if Trent clones multiple copies of himself.
Please save our planet by forbidding cloning until Trent dies, either from old age or because someone kills him.
I thank you for your time and consideration to this troublesome matter.
Oh Stupid Heart
Book Two of: A Long Road To Love
Humorous Contemporary Disaster Romance
By Liza O’Connor
Carrie Hanson is in love with a different species: Trent, a pampered, uber-rich socialite who’s also her boss. Everyone keeps telling her it’s a train wreck looking to happen, but her heart wants what it wants. So despite the billion and one reasons not to, Carrie commits to this inter-species relationship. But while she’s off being trained for her new job responsibilities, a beautiful ex fiancée is working hard to get Trent back and Carrie fired.
Excerpt:
Carrie glanced up at Trent. “Can I have one of your business cards?”
He handed one over, curious why Carrie wanted it. She flipped it over and wrote, These bills were given to Miss Claire as an act of charity. They are hers to spend.
She handed Trent the card. “Sign it, please.”
He signed the card and Carrie presented it to the old woman.
Her eyes rounded as she read it. “You know my name.”
“We’ve talked before.”
“Right. You’re the nice girl who pointed out how much cheaper it would be for me to buy a monthly card instead of paying the daily rate. I appreciated your advice. I’ve been able to buy better food and even had money saved up so, when I got sick, I could get well enough to keep working.” She patted Carrie’s arm. “I’m glad you got yourself a good man. You deserve it.”
Carrie glanced up at him and smiled. “He is a good man.”
She whispered in the old woman’s ear. Whatever she said cause the woman’s forehead to furrow.
She thrust the bills into Carrie’s hand. “I appreciate the thought, but I can’t take your money. But thank you both. You’re good people, and the world could use more like you.”
To his shock, Carrie didn’t argue. She only hugged the woman. “You are good people, too.”
Half the crowded train watched the fiasco. Great! Not only had the old woman rejected his act of charity, but a mob of commuters had witnessed his failed attempt at being a “good person.” His grandmother had to be thrashing in her grave.

#MySexySaturday – Brook and Melina’s 1st time together in Never Gonna Desert You #LGBT
Hello everyone! It’s the 17th week of My Sexy Saturday. Here are the details: every Saturday, published and unpublished authors will be sharing 7 words, sentences, or paragraphs from a work-in-progress or an already published story.
Today, I’m sharing an excerpt from Never Gonna Desert You, which is the second book in The Underground series. Enjoy!
You may remember Melina from last week’s excerpt:
Brook’s bottom lip trembled. “You…you don’t want me anymore?”
If only she knew. Melina wrapped her arms around Brook, but kept her hands clutched together. If she drew her fingers across any part of Brook’s body, she’d lose all control. “I want you more than you will ever know. But, as you know, same-sex relationships are banned.”
Brook twisted around in Melina’s arms. “I don’t care any longer. Take me. Show me how you can love me because I’ve been fantasizing about it for weeks.”
The last restraint snapped. She refused to deny what Brook wanted. Scooping her onto her lap, Melina nuzzled into the crook of her neck, taking in the exotic scent of strawberries. If the replicated version smelled as divine, she’d never eat anything else.
She found Brook’s soft lips. With tender sweeps, she invaded her mouth. God, the girl tasted like heaven.
Pulling open the tie of Brook’s robe, she slipped her hand inside the smooth silk. Warm porcelain skin met the tips of her fingers. Soft, like the petals of a rose. Both so rare and wonderful. Her breath quickened. She’d never made love to a woman, yet there was no one she wanted more. Desire flooded out all conscious thought, leaving only hunger to touch and taste. To have.
She laid Brook back on the couch, robe open to expose her beautiful naked body. Palming the ample breasts, she circled her thumbs around Brook’s pert nipples. Utterly divine.

The Wild Frontier – Google+ for New Authors by @FierceDolan #buildingaudience #amwriting

G+ for New Authors–The Wild Frontier
Guest Post by author Fierce Dolan
For most users, one of the best things about G+ is that it isn’t Facebook. What I mean by that I mean is, G+ isn’t overrun with ads, Sponsored Posts, spam, or games, as has become standard in navigating Facebook. In fact, Google Plus has none of that. With that brilliant distinction in mind, here are a few disadvantages and advantages of G+ for a new author:
Disadvantages
The #1 problem with G+ is… getting people to use it. The young social platform just hasn’t attracted the attention of staunch Facebook or Twitter users, so as an author creating readership, your job is to sell yourself… and the service.
As a result of not getting the attention of Facebook, many users who are on G+ just don’t use it. They migrate where the conversation is, which is often away from G+.
Because the service is still new, Open Graph Protocol (social media sharing or “liking” buttons on websites) for G+ hasn’t incorporated on many sites.
Because G+ focuses solely on helping you interact with Contacts, there aren’t superfluous ads in the sidebars or embedded within your Wall. You would think that quiet is appreciated, though many find it bland, leaving them without accustomed landmarks to navigate the service.
Along that line, on G+, you can only write on your own Wall. If you want to write a note to someone, it must be posted to your wall directed only to that person (making it private between the two of you), or via public callout with an @ before the Contact name.
G+ really does value your privacy. You can set your account to be totally private, public, or some flavor between.
Google Plus allows you to organize Contacts (your friends list) into Circles. Doing so allows you to group Contacts by interest, such as Writers, Editors, Graphic Designers, etc. You can also post to your entire group of Circles, or to a specific one. Apart from public posts, only those whom you add to Circles can read your posts.
Engaging socially in Communities gets you out there to meet readers, and others in the industry. You can set Community posts to show up in your main feed, or read them at the Community’s page.
You can create business pages on G+, allowing you to distinguish your personal profile from book or author pages.
Cover banners for pages on G+ have no comparison to any other, measuring at a whopping 2120X1192. You can almost put an entire book on that, alone!
Another nice feature of G+ is that it is integrated with all other apps on the Google platform. Potentially email (Gmail), photo albums (Picasa), Contacts, Droid (if you have one), and every other Google service you use can be integrated into your G+ account. If you want transparency with readers, this interconnectivity of apps allows that, though you can still enjoy the perques of these features with privacy.
G+ Communities tend to have more relationship and communication-driven interaction, rather than slews of drive-by promotion.
One of the best features of G+ for authors is Hangouts–live video webcasts. The potential to connect with your audience worldwide, in all your fantasticness and real-time glory has never been easier, or more fun.

Hump Day Hook – Finally a moment alone in Never Gonna Say Goodbye #HDH #scifirom #GLBT
Hello everyone! Welcome to another Hump Day Hook.
Today, I’m back to sharing from my new release, Never Gonna Say Goodbye,
a futuristic sci-fi/dystopian MM romance.
This is the third (and last) story in The Underground series.
Here’s a sexy moment between Tim and Will.
“But let’s forget about that for tonight.” He needed to be reminded of his purpose for fighting, too. Freedom. Freedom for the people, and freedom to love whomever he wanted.
Tim stroked the front of his pants. He hardened under his touch, aching with need. Bulge pressing against an open palm, Will craved the warm physique of his lover. So much time had passed since they’d last been intimate. Even with Tim’s return from Airondelle as their medic three days earlier, they’d had no time alone, due to their hasty preparations to attack Planet Core. His intense longing left him vulnerable, thinking unclearly. He needed a release to purge his mind, regain focus. And by the hard lines on his lover’s face, so did Tim.

#MySexySaturday – Just a Friend? in NEVER GONNA LET YOU GO #dystopian #LGBT #romance
Hello everyone! It’s the 16th week of My Sexy Saturday. Here are the details: every Saturday, published and unpublished authors will be sharing 7 words, sentences, or paragraphs from a work-in-progress or an already published story.
Never Gonna Say Goodbye released from Amazon and All Romance eBooks on Thursday (will be available at other retailers starting Sept. 17). And to celebrate the release of the third book in the GLBT series, Never Gonna Let You Go has been marked down to 99 CENTS until September 26.
While the story has both FF & MF scenes, this one involves Calla and Melina.
“I want you close by to make sure you’re okay. I don’t want you sleeping by yourself.”
Calla didn’t want to be alone either. She yearned for a quick recovery to get back out in the field before the mission ended and they returned to Earth.
And she wanted to be with her new lover. She deserved to be happy. Didn’t she?
Melina stripped off her clothes to reveal her tempting round breasts, the nipples already raised in arousal. She crawled in beside her on the most comfortable bed Calla had slept in for a month. Even though the night proved too hot to wear anything in the tents, she welcomed Melina’s soft, warm body next to her.
“If you’re feeling up to it, we’ll go out tomorrow and catch a rapat. Whatever it takes. Otherwise, I’ll take one of the guys out. No matter what, we’ll have one for you.” She draped an arm across Calla’s belly, her chin on Calla’s shoulder. “I just want you to get better.”
Calla leaned into Melina’s arms, pressing against her naked form. If only she’d felt this content during the entire mission. This relationship was something she’d never expected, and yet, she refused to deflect her commander’s affection. A new strength filled her, having someone in her corner. “Thank you. It’s good to have a friend again.”
Gazing into her eyes, Melina asked, “Is that all you want? Just a friend?”
