He knew who she was? Read an extended excerpt from HER EVERYTHING by @Tara_Andrews1 #1NS

by Tara Andrews
Erotic Romance
Publisher: Decadent Publishing
Rachel Turner made a mistake—a couple, in fact. Ruining a surprise meeting with the front man to her favorite band is just the beginning. But agreeing to switch places with her famous sister may spell the end of both of their careers. With rumors flying and an unexpected invitation from Madame Eve, Rachel hopes she can put the mistakes behind her.
Attending an event to support a charity close to his heart, Mark Travis wasn’t looking for love, or even company—and definitely not with a fan. But when he puts in a hasty bid at a silent auction and wins the services of 1Night Stand, Madame Eve has something different in mind. A single evening with a woman she claims can fulfill his needs. But one night might not be enough.
Come morning, will Mark and Rachel’s unexpected one-night stand give them more than they bargained for?
“Well, right now, because of this little trick, Sasha’s reputation is in jeopardy. Yours isn’t. I’m going to come up with some explanation, and you’ll need to go along with it.”
The potential consequence of her actions hit Rachel like a bucket of ice water. After spending years defending, covering, and insulating her twin, Rachel’s instinct to protect Sasha came naturally. But to let Victor think he could use her however he decided went too far.
Then again, if the scandal ruined Wicked Vixen, Rachel would be out of work, too. Contrary to what Victor said, it had put her in a vulnerable position. Who would hire her with scandal as baggage? No one.
Rachel had always been the more realistic and levelheaded of the girls, and sometimes it sucked. Too bad her levelheadedness had been absent when she’d agreed to the idea. Still…. “I don’t think Sasha would agree to lie—”
“Well, she didn’t seem to have a problem lying to hundreds of people earlier. Now we have to deal with the fallout.”
Though she hated his harsh assessment of what they’d done, Rachel could hardly argue the point. And she couldn’t deny that if it weren’t for Victor, no one outside Long Beach would have ever heard of Wicked Vixen to begin with. She’d be smart to do as he said, except it didn’t sit well with her at all. He could spin it to somehow pin it all on her. If that happened, even if she continued to work with the group, publicly she’d be the bad guy. They’d joke about the whole thing on the radio and rip her apart in the news rags while her sister went on her way.
“Excuse me, is there a problem?”
Rachel spun to find Mark Travis taking a casual sip of his drink, his gaze moving between her and Victor. Had Mark heard their conversation? Absorbed in it, she had no idea how long he’d been standing behind her.
“Hello.” Always quick, always networking, Victor extended a hand. “It’s nice to meet you, Mark. I’m Victor Paul, Wicked Vixen’s manager.” Slow to accept the greeting, Mark finally shook. Victor barreled along, motioning toward Rachel, “And this is—”
“Rachel Turner,” Mark supplied and held out his hand toward her, as well.
Dazed, she reached for it. Warmth from his grasp seeped into her and spread up her arm. A calloused thumb brushed her wrist before he let go. She shivered but hid it by shifting to allow them all to face one another.
“I’d hate to interrupt. Were you finished?” The slight tilt to Mark’s lips belied his regret. Rachel nodded, unable to speak, and wondered if she’d somehow given away her desire for escape. He asked, “Well, then, would you care to dance?”
Before leaving, Victor jumped in. “Excellent. Rachel, we’ll talk later.”
Surprise overriding any self-editing ability she possessed, she blurted, “You remembered my name?”
“Of course. Beautiful women tend to stick in my mind.”
The flirtatious line surprised a laugh from her. “Good one.”
His answering smile set off a swarm of butterflies in her belly. She used the action of stuffing the note inside her purse to allow a chance to steady her breath and hands. First the mysterious invitation from Madame Evangeline then the unsettling discussion with Victor, and now Mark Travis was seeking her out. She needed to pull herself together.
Done with the stalling tactic, she returned her attention to him. “I’d love to dance.” I’d love to do a lot of things with you. Dancing was only one of them.
Running her fingers over the soft wool of the jacket to take his offered elbow, she imagined the hours of guitar-playing that must have helped sculpt the hard muscles evident beneath the fabric. Butterflies morphed into tiny phoenixes, her cheeks warmed, and the heat spread south to reach between her legs. She wasn’t sure which she found more inconvenient.
On the dance floor, Mark tugged her waist to pull her close. With one hand clasped in his and the other resting on his shoulder, she followed his lead. He danced with the same confidence and style as he walked—sure, commanding, and…so incredibly hot.
Thanks to the four-inch Louboutins Rachel had borrowed from her sister, the top of her head barely reached his chin, but high enough, if she dared, to rest her temple against his cheek. Though tempted to find out if the stubble along his jaw was as soft as it looked, she didn’t dare. But, oh, how she wanted to. At least they were close enough that the spicy scent of his cologne surrounded her.
A love song played, its lyrics about longing the perfect fit for her one-and-only dance with the man she’d admired so long from afar.
“You didn’t come back.” His voice, rough and low, vibrated against her cheek.
She tilted her head to meet his gaze. The intimate proximity allowed her an up-close-and-personal view of his brown eyes, their color reminding her of the amaretto she favored.
His hold on her shifted, bringing them closer, the difference slight, but welcome. The nerves at her waist sizzled under the weight of his palm, while his thumb rubbed the exposed skin of her back. She shivered again from the simple touch, and an answering heat flared in his eyes.
“I…I got called away to help my sister.” She stumbled on the near lie. But, truth be told, she never dreamed Mark would give her a second thought after she’d left, his disinterest so plain to see.
“Sasha?”
So he knew who she was then? “Yes, she’s my sister.”
“Your twin.”
Rachel allowed him to spin her before replying. “That’s correct.”
“I didn’t realize at first. The glasses threw me off, as did your hair.” He smiled then. “Even so, you two are not identical.”
Aside from her and Sasha’s obvious style differences and voices, very few people were able to tell them apart. A knot formed in Rachel’s throat. She didn’t like where his comment appeared to be leading or the way his movements slowed and his brow furrowed.
He met her eyes. “Was that you on stage tonight?”

When a one-night stand turns into an online photo scandal, Sophie Tucker and Luke McGraw become campus celebrities overnight for all the wrong reasons.
Sophie Tucker can’t wait to start her freshman year of college—she has a full scholarship to her dream school and her sights set on landing a coveted staff writer position on the college newspaper. But when a scandalous photo from a one night stand she barely remembers is posted on The Score List, a new tabloid-style gossip site the campus is buzzing about, Sophie realizes her freshman year isn’t going to be what she imagined. As more photos are posted, Sophie decides to use her journalistic prowess to take down the anonymous person behind the site.
Luke McGraw is that guy—the vice president of his fraternity, the online editor of the school newspaper, and the one every girl wants to date. When a photo of Sophie, the girl he hooked up with the night before classes started and can’t get out of his head, shows up on The Score List, he knows that he has to find out who is behind the site—both to avenge Sophie, and to save the reputation of his fraternity.
When Sophie and Luke realize they’re both investigating, they decide to team up. But focusing on the investigation instead of each other proves difficult, especially when neither of them are sure the other can be trusted.

“I have one more question for you,” she murmured, leaning her head against the seat and biting her lip provocatively. Her skin tight green T-shirt hung so close to her skin I could see her nipples peeking through the fabric; I wanted to taste them, to roll my tongue around them and make them pucker more. I wanted to taste all of her.
“What’s the question?” I growled low, watching her tongue slide across her lips.
Slowly, she moved forward and stopped only an inch away from me, her mouth so achingly close. It killed me to keep my calm, to not pick her up, carry her into my house, throw her on my bed, and just fuck her like I’d been dying to do since the day I met her. I had never wanted someone so bad and not be able to have them.
“I’m ready for you, Tyler. Are you ready for me?”
Grasping the back of her neck, I brought her closer and gently nipped her bottom lip making her gasp. “You have no fucking idea.”

A FIGHTER’S DESIRE – PART ONE Blurb:
Two is always better than one.
What would you do if you were given the chance to spend the night with not one, but two fighters? Would you do it? Could you open yourself up to the pleasures they offered and do exactly what they said in order to pass on to the next round?
It was common knowledge that Ryley and Camden Jameson, well-known MMA fighters and identical twins, were just as aggressive and passionate in the bed as they were in the ring. The only problem was that if you didn’t pass their test on the first night, then you didn’t proceed to the next round. They loved a good fight, and that’s what they got when they met Ashleigh Warren.
Ashleigh knew what was going to happen when the twins approached her with a proposition, and needless to say, she knew exactly how to handle them … or so she thought. The rules had changed, and in order to get them both she had to first spend one night with each and last until they were done with her. It was a proposition she couldn’t refuse, but she knew it wouldn’t be easy to win. However, it was one that she was going to enjoy.
A FIGHTER’S DESIRE – PART TWO Blurb:
When you’re told to stay away from someone or something it only drives the urge to go after it more. In this case, that was exactly what happened. For years, Gabriella Reynolds—younger sister of MMA’s Heavyweight Champion, Matt Reynolds—was warned by him to stay away from his fighter friends; she deserved better and they would only break her heart.
Did she listen? Yes, for a while, but temptation can only consume you so much until you fall into its trap. There’s a certain fighter she’s interested in, and it just so happens that he’s her brother’s best friend, the only one that is completely off limits to her. However, she’s not the only one fighting temptation. Tyler Rushing can’t deny his attraction to her, but he’s afraid she’ll want more and he can’t give that to her. When he finds out that’s not the case … everything changes.
Secrets can be dangerous, but they can also be thrilling and intense. Gabriella and Tyler have no choice but to keep their time together a secret … and it’s a secret that’ll stay with them forever.

“Your Grace?”
Hugh whirled to face his coachman, the wind biting into his hope that Anna would venture out to meet him on such a bitter day.
“Yes, Warren. What is it?”
The man huddled in his woolen livery, frozen, rubbing his hands together. “We hired the man’s hack for two hours. But the horses are very cold standing as they are, Your Grace. Can I not make a circle of the garden to stir their blood a bit?”
“Yes, do.” He could not keep his good servant out in such hideous weather. That was unkind. Unnecessary.
He stared down the lane again, narrowing his eyes.
She was…
There! Coming toward him. It was she in that horrible brown hat and coat.
He strode toward her. Then broke into a jog. His hat bobbed and he whipped it off, tucked it under his arm. “Anna!”
She broke into a smile, beaming at him, her pace quickening, her lips tremulous with what? Cold? Fear? Delight?
He caught her to him. The thrilling feel of her, her curves to his form, her warmth to his welcome. His lips went to the corner of her eye, the point of her nose and hovered over her lips.
“You waited,” she breathed, her words laced with panic, her golden gaze flowing over him with triumph.
“I did. I had to hope.”
She cupped his jaw. “I apologize for being late. I could not get away.”
“But you came. How?”
“A hack. And then, I left him at the bridge and walked.”
Hugh enveloped her in his arms. “There is no one here to see you or me. It’s too damn cold.”
She chuckled, her arms wrapping around his waist as easily as if she belonged to him and he to her. She trained her eyes on his breastplate and ribbons. “But you wore a uniform.”
“I did. As you commanded.” He turned to one side and wove her arm through his. “Come, let me get you into a carriage.”
“Oh, no.” She hung back. “I cannot. Really, Kendal.”
“You’re frozen. So am I. And there beyond,” he said nodding toward Warren who stood with the hack door open, “is my coachman. I hired a vehicle. Did not bring my own.”
“You have crests on yours, I suppose,” she said, sounding tentative but walking briskly with him anyway.
“Yes, they all do. I would not chance discovery.”
“I do appreciate that.”
They stopped in front of the hack’s open door.
Hugh took both her gloved hands, her fingers cold as icicles. “Few seem to be in the Gardens. I’ll take you if wish. Or you can step into my conveyance, hired especially for this afternoon, and warm yourself with the bricks and the brandy I have tucked inside.”
Her eyes, alive with yearning, examined his. Still she hesitated. “I don’t want to walk.”
He understood her tentative tone, an objection to the privacy of his coach. “I would never hurt you. If you will do me the honor to climb up in there, we might have an hour or more of good conversation.”
“And brandy,” she added with a twinkle in her brilliant eyes.
“And bricks.”
“I want to.”
“Do.”
She swallowed, then smiled at Warren with a hint of apology.
Hugh told her, “You can sit in one corner and I in the opposite seat.”
Acceptance defined her exquisite features. “And here I had imagined us sitting side by side as we did at dinner last night.”
If he had envisioned himself as a cave man seizing her, enjoying her, it was nothing to the urge now to grasp her in his arms and take her lips, her heart, her mind and make them his. Reason, somehow, arrested him instead. “Sit wherever you like, my darling. I live to make you smile.”
She flowed up to him. Her gloved hands cupping his jaw, she rose on her toes and brushed her lips on his.
My god.
She undid him. All his noble intentions gone. His earnest statements that he would protect her from his baser urges now hollow. Still, he could not move, paralyzed with wanting more of her.
“You must climb in first,” she told him, an impish glimmer in her eyes. “The better to give me a choice.”
He grunted, incapable of words. Then he did as she bade him. Falling back against the far corner of the wooden bench, he shoved his shako to the floor. He watched her as she put one foot upon the block and let Warren take her hand to lead her up inside. And there before him, she met his gaze and waited as Warren shut the coach door. She seemed cast in bronze, unmoving, studying him. Then putting one knee to his bench, she leaned over him, descending to a breath away. “Kiss me, won’t you, Kendal? I’ve dreamed of no one but you for months.”

He wants to pleasure her ~ ANOTHER NIGHT, ANOTHER PLANET #MySexySaturday #99cents #1NS
Hello everyone! Welcome to week 62 of My Sexy Saturday!
This week we’re sharing the sexy state of mind.
For me, that means someone who is focused on giving pleasure as much as they are in receiving it. They get the same pleasure from giving as they do getting. And they know that in order to get, they have to give, and give well.
Today, I’m going to share an excerpt from Another Night, Another Planet, which is ON SALE this month for only 99¢.
Set-up: Ava and Nate have both arranged a date with the 1Night Stand dating service, though they never expected to be reunited with each other. Nate hopes to remind Ava of what they once shared.
Rising to his feet, he laid Ava across the lounger. “Stay here. I’ll be right back.”
He rushed over to the gourmet spread of food before his lust took over and he ruined the evening. Collecting a selection of pastries filled with creams and small chunks of juicy fruit, he took a deep breath, trying to stifle his aching cock. Anxious to satisfy another hunger, he carried the plate over to Ava.
He kneeled in front of her. A smile radiated across her face. “Thank you. I didn’t expect the eletin to affect me so much. It’s like the alcohol on Earth. I want you, don’t get me wrong, but….”
Setting a chunk of fruit between his teeth, he captured her lips again. Their tongues darted around the juicy flesh until he swallowed it down. He licked a trail of sweet nectar down her neck. Gods, he’d missed her.
Pinching one of the flaky pastries, he wiped its cream onto her pert, rosy nipples. Hunger and lust pulsed through him, but under it all, something more. More than want. He needed her. Always had. He refused to walk away from her again. Tonight was about more than pleasure, a one-night stand. Somehow, he had to convince her to never return to Earth, to stay with him. An impossible task. But he had to try.
He licked the sugary cream from her erect peaks, swirling his tongue around each before sucking it all off. Absolutely divine. She moaned, bucking against him. So much for getting to know each other again. But if he had his way, they’d have plenty of time to catch up after the evening ended. He had to remind her of what they’d once had.
Spreading open her legs, he grabbed another piece of fruit. He squeezed its juices over her already slick folds, lapping the sweet flavors together. The taste of pure decadence, a heady combination of sweetness and sex, left him starving for more. Swirling his tongue, he savored her alluring taste. Her high-pitched keening resonating through the room, she gripped his shoulders, pushing her pelvis closer. Anxious to have her screaming his name, he plunged two fingers inside her velvet core, focusing his ministrations on her clit.
~ About Another Night, Another Planet ~
Limited by status…
Ava is a housekeeper aboard Star Spirit, a luxury cruise ship travelling between the Milky Way and the Belvarian System. Coming from a middle-class family on Earth, she is considered by passengers as nothing more than an object to be tossed away when they’re done with her.
Shunned because of his lineage…
Banned from several planets across the universe, Nate struggles to run his interstellar shipping business. But the DNA of an exterminated race runs through his blood, giving him a diluted form of their powers, and leaving him labeled as a terrorist.
Both searching for the one…
Through her 1Night Stand dating service, Madame Evangeline matches these two together for a celestial escape on the pleasure planet, Elatia.
Will Ava and Nate find what they’re looking for, or will their date be just another night on another planet?

Can one night of magic heal his heart? #CoverReveal for HALLOW’S EVE by @PippaJayGreen #PNR
HALLOW’S EVE
by Pippa Jay
Twelve months ago, Hal’s world crashed and burned, taking the love of his life with it. He’s waited all year for that one special night when the souls of the departed come home, hoping his candle will summon back one in particular to heal his broken heart. But the forbidden knowledge he’s learned could call something far worse, and put more than his own soul at risk…
The thud and chink of beer bottles and glasses on the bar announced Dan’s return.
“So?”
Hal shook his head. “Not tonight.”
“Oh, c’mon, man. Just one beer.”
Hal dropped his gaze to the glass he was still drying with a vehemence it didn’t deserve, avoiding his friend’s pleading stare. “Thanks, but I’m not in the mood.”
Dan made an exasperated sound. “Look, I know it’s nearly a year—”
Pain lanced into his chest. “Stop.” He looked up.
A frown creasing his tanned face, Dan glared back, but he shut up.
Hal sucked in a breath. He didn’t want to fight with Dan over this. The guy had stopped Hal’s life completely falling apart after last Halloween. “I know what you’re trying to do,” he murmured, and relief flickered in Dan’s brown eyes. “But I’m not ready to let it go.”
“I’m not saying you should, man. But how about getting back into some social interaction? You can’t spend the rest of your life as a recluse.”
“I won’t.” Hal smiled. Dan had no idea.
“Then come out for a beer.”
“Another time.”
“Tomorrow then. I know you’ve got the Halloween shift off.”
Hal put down the glass he’d abused. “I’m busy.”
“Oh, yeah? Doing what? Trick or treating?” Dan scoffed. “What is it with you and Halloween? You never struck me as religious enough to find it offensive, but you don’t go out and have any fun either. So how come you always take the night off?”
Hal looked around the bar at all the tawdry holiday decorations, and debated how to answer. Maybe Dan thought he was a closet Christian or something. The truth would shock the hell out of him. Especially with what Hal had planned this year. “My…family don’t see it as something to joke about.”
“Oh. Strict Catholic or something?”
“Something like that.” Hal smiled at the thought of his parents taking Holy Communion. But let Dan interpret it any way he liked.
Coming 8th October, Hallow’s Eve will be available in all digital formats from Amazon, B&N, Smashwords, All Romance eBooks, and most digital online retailers. For more information, visit the book’s page.

AS LONG AS YOU LOVE ME
by Ann Aguirre
[image error]Most people dream about getting out of Sharon, Nebraska, but after three years away, Lauren Barrett is coming home. There are the justifications she gives to everyone else—missing her family, losing her college scholarship. And then there’s the reason Lauren can’t admit to anyone: Rob Conrad, her best friend’s older brother.
Football prowess and jaw-dropping good looks made Rob a star in high school. Out in the real world, his job and his relationships are going nowhere. He can’t pinpoint exactly what’s missing until Lauren comes back to town, bringing old feelings and new dreams with her. But he’s the guy that women love and leave—not the one who makes them think of forever.
Though she’s terrified of opening up, Lauren’s ready to take that chance. Because the only thing more important than figuring out where you truly belong is finding the person you were meant to be with.

Mom was asleep, so I checked my email. I had the usual spam, plus notes from all my former roomies, which made me happy. I missed all of them, even Max, though things were unspeakably awkward between us at the end. I opened Nadia’s first:
LB! You know I miss you like crazy, right? Courtney’s in your bed right now, and she has completely alphabetized my books. I’m pretty sure there will be a lending library program implemented the next time I get home from work. So how’s Nebraska? Did you find a job yet? Have you started applying to any schools? I have like ten more questions but you’ll get grumpy if I dump them on you all at once. Hug and kiss my family for me, okay? Write back soon or I’m sending my brother to track you down.
She didn’t mention the hot single dad she’d broken up with right before I left. Mr. Hot Ginger had dumped Nadia for her own good, which would drive her quietly crazy. I’d felt horrible about the timing, but there was little I could do about it. I hadn’t gotten to know him well before I left, but Ty seemed like a good guy. He was only a few years older than us, but already had a four-year-old. That was the crux of the conflict.
Writing back, I didn’t quite nail the tone, talking about Rob too much and inventing interesting anecdotes because there was so little going on. I could’ve mentioned Krista, but Nadia had never been as close to her, and there was some tension by the time she moved. Mostly I didn’t want Nadia to worry; things would be fine once I got a job and had less time to fret about whether I’d made the right decision.
I opened Angus’s email next:
Hey, you. Got your check. It appears not to be rubber, but I said you didn’t have to pay me back. I hate you for leaving. Come back right now. I’ll wait. This is me, waiting. It’s been at least five minutes. You’re shattering my faith in humanity, Lauren. Take responsibility for it! Not sure what you’ve heard from Nadia, but she’s such a hot mess. I can’t believe you abandoned us. All the light has left my life. All of it! Okay, enough drama. I’m working on getting over Josh. Classes suck but I will survive. (You’re singing it now, aren’t you?)
“Damn you, Angus Starr. You know me too well.” I got up on my bed with a hairbrush and sang two verses before reading on.
In all seriousness, there is a Lauren-sized hole in my life. Please don’t lose touch. Write soon. Love and hugs, Angus.
It was simpler writing back to Angus; our friendship was sweet and uncomplicated. Briefly I considered deleting Max’s email without opening it, but that seemed like an asshole move. In the end, I read it, two lines only:
I’m sorry about everything. Take care of yourself.

Chapter One
Blood dripped down Taylor’s neck, the deep red contrasting with the pale whiteness of her skin. Trapped, unable to stop the blood flow, she was helpless to prevent each drop from falling to her daughter’s lap. Whimpers escaped Taylor’s lips, and Angela bit down on her own, the taste of sharp copper washing over her tongue. The cries became louder as the evil man sliced the knife across her daughter’s throat. “No!”
A scream echoed through her mind, startling her from sleep. Shaking, Angela sat up in bed. It was only a dream.
Soft cries came from Taylor’s bed, and she turned toward the sound. Her daughter lay curled in her covers, holding tight to her stuffed horse.
These nightmares are getting more frequent. Both hers and mine. She pulled back the covers and crossed the small space to her. Bending over, she brushed the hair off her daughter’s face then placed a kiss on her forehead, but the distressing whimpers continued.
Usually a touch wakes her. This must be a bad one. Sitting on the edge, she pulled her daughter into her arms to cradle her tight against her heart. “Shhh. I’m here. Wake up. It’s okay.”
Small arms flailed, smacking Angela’s face. She held her daughter tighter and shook her gently.
“Honey, it’s Mommy. Wake up.” Her voice was louder, more demanding.
Her daughter’s eyes shot open. Her stare latched onto her mom’s as a silent scream formed on her lips, her body stiffening.
When will this trauma ever go away? She brushed the hair from her own eyes, her fingers swiping the wetness on her cheek. “Honey, Mommy’s here. I have you. There’s no bad man here.” She choked on her tears. “I won’t let anything happen to you.”
Her gaze focusing, Taylor relaxed, but her brow puckered in what Angela called her question face. Her small hand reached up and touched the tear trailing down her mother’s cheek.
“It’s okay. I’m fine now that you’re fine. It must have been another bad dream.”
***
Their family counselor, Justine, helped them through the trauma right after it happened. She’d helped Angela with her guilt and brought them closer as a family. Ever since her husband died three years ago, the weight of responsibility had fallen on her shoulders. Taylor was just three when her dad had died, and she didn’t remember him. Naturally shy around men, her attack only made things worse.
“I’m proud of how far you’ve come since you started here.” The counselor always began by talking about Angela’s progress. “Have you had any problems with flashbacks? Fear of driving or going to the bank with your deposits after work? I realize it’s not where the original accident happened, but we know fear doesn’t stay in one location.”
They’d moved to North Dakota to escape the memories and give them a fresh start. “I’m better. I’ve taken your advice and make sure I don’t do the deposits alone. Still, some people frighten me. But I take a few deep breaths and try to relax. I’ve started some yoga at home, even have Taylor doing it with me. Anything to calm my mind.”
“I’m glad to hear that. Exercise is important for children of trauma.”
Angela stared at the woman seated behind the desk. Her short, blonde hair showed off her striking face, her clothes neat and unwrinkled, and her fingernails were polished. As she looked at her own broken and chewed nails, doubts about the woman’s effectiveness crept into her mind. She looks like a model or movie star. It’s obvious she’s not been up all night worried about a child. I’ve had enough of this pleasant talk. I need to know my daughter will be fine.
“When is my daughter going to speak? She’s said nothing except grunts and whimpers for the last six months.” Angela tried to keep her frustration under control, but exasperation rang in her voice. “And the nightmares are getting worse. Last night I could hardly wake her. Is there more we can do? What else do you recommend?”
Justine tapped her pen on her notepad. “We’ve been through this before. Your daughter’s hiding from the pain. While the junkie didn’t physically cut Taylor’s voice out, he did prevent her from screaming for help. The very real pain she felt from the knife at her throat has made her mute.”
“But for how long?”
“There’s no telling. Let’s get her in here and see if we can get her to talk this week.” A smile crossed her face.
“Okay. I’ll grab her.” Angela walked to the outer office. I know she’s trying to reassure me, but I can’t help feeling lost. My baby used to sing and dance. She was such a happy girl, even with the loss of her dad.
Sitting in the chair closest to the secretary’s desk, Taylor stared at a magazine in her lap. Her daughter’s light-brown hair and deep-brown, almond-shaped eyes reminded her so much of Mike. Oh, but her personality is all mine. A pang of remorse flowed over her heart. Mike would have known just what to do.
She stood watching her for a moment as she flipped through the pages. Photos of animals filled the pages. Animals have always been her favorite. She connected with them.
While looking at one picture, Taylor reached her fingers out as if to pet the animal. What did I do to deserve this angel? Pushing her shoulders back, Angela walked over and tapped her on the shoulder. A tentative smile lit up her daughter’s face.

Cowboys Don’t Cry by Vickie Taylor
A broken cowboy with nothing left to lose…except his heart.
Dash Connaway is hell-bent down a highway to nowhere. But he can’t outrun fate. Just a few months ago, he’d had a new album shooting up the country music charts, a luxury tour bus prepped for gigs in 39 cities, and a live-in girl friend he’d been thinking of asking to marry him. Now he’s just another drifter with an old guitar, a beat-up pickup, and a dog named Bill for a bed mate…until he meets Maggie McCain.
Maggie isn’t your ordinary Oregon rancher. She’s more into organic gardening and hand-spinning yarn from the fleece of her prized alpacas than breeding stinky old cattle. She’s a nurturer, a giver, so when Dash steps into her life from nowhere, she’s ready to trade in her solitary existence on the farm in favor of a husband to grow old with and a passel of children to care for.
But when she learns the real reason for Dash’s commitment to life on the road, she’s faced with a difficult choice and a lesson in the fallacy behind the old saying “Cowboys don’t cry.” Only time will tell just how potent the healing power of love can really be.

Despite their determination to stay the course they’ve each chosen, attraction pulls them together as steadily as a nail to a magnet. Can these two find a way to mesh Alannah’s need for freedom and Gentry’s desire to hold onto his land?
About D’Ann Lindun:
Falling in love with romance novels the summer before sixth grade, D’Ann Lindun never thought about writing one until many years later when she took a how-to class at her local college. She was hooked! She began writing and never looked back. Romance appeals to her because there’s just something so satisfying about writing a book guaranteed to have a happy ending. D’Ann’s particular favorites usually feature cowboys and the women who love them. This is probably because she draws inspiration from the area where she lives, Western Colorado, her husband of twenty-nine years and their daughter. Composites of their small farm, herd of horses, five Australian shepherds, a Queensland heeler, two ducks and cats of every shape and color often show up in her stories!
