Ruby Tuesday! Meet Lizzie Shane

Hello everyone! Welcome to the first Ruby Tuesday on the Ruby Slippered Sisterhood Blog “Reboot”! On the first Tuesday of each month, we will spotlight a Ruby by interviewing her about her books/life or both. If there are any new releases or events going on for a Ruby during the rest of the month, they will post about it on Tuesdays as well.

So join me in welcoming our first Ruby Tuesday Ruby – Lizzie Shane!

Lizzie Shane first started her writing career publishing paranormal romance as Vivi...

Welcome to Mentor Monday!

Hello, everyone –

And welcome to the new vision for the Ruby Slippered Sisterhood! I’m Liz Talley and I’ll be your tour guide for a discussion on …. drum roll please…..

Mentorship!

Yes, today we’re talking about mentors and what a relationship with a mentor looks like. First, let’s talk about what a mentorship is NOT.

A mentorship partnership is not one-sided. Oh, sure on the surface it might seem that way. You take a fledgling writer who emerges into the sun, blinking and just spreading her...

The Rubies Take Manhattan!!

We’re all home and rested (sort of) after the whirlwind of the Romance Writers of America’s National Conference in New York City. We learned a lot, hugged a lot of far-flung friends, talked a lot about the industry and the future of our organization, ate a lot of awesome food, navigated lots of crowded city sidewalks, picked up lots of great new books, cursed the insane elevator system a lot, and maybe even squeezed in a Broadway show or two.  Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing some in...

A Historic Night for the RITAs!!

This year’s RITA ceremony began with a distinct sense of unease: since the origin of RWA’s highest award in 1982, it had never been been won by an African-American writer. This was true despite the fact that the organization was co-founded by an African-American woman, romance editor Vivian Stevens, and despite the legendary careers of writers like Beverly Jenkins, Brenda Jackson, Sandra Kitt, and Alyssa Cole, not to mention all the excellent African-American writers publishing wonderful roma...

Meet 2019 Golden Heart Finalist Alexis De Girolami!!

We’ve got another Omega on the blog today: 2019 Golden Heart Finalist Alexis De Girolami, whose manuscript PAGE SIX is nominated for Best Contemporary Romance! Alexis De Girolami is a video game developer by day and a romance writer by… later in the day. At night, she sleeps. She’s penned romance since writing some impressively gratuitous fanfiction in middle school and has never looked back. When she’s not writing or making games, Alexis can usually be found in Seattle, singing overly-enthus...

Welcome 2019 Golden Heart Finalist Valen Cox!

I hope you’re all counting down to RWA like we are! And I hope you’re ready to welcome another of our Omega’s – the delightful Valen Cox. Valen is a 2019 Golden Heart Finalist for Best Paranormal Romance with her book TOUCH 3.3. Valen Cox is an Army Brat whose vagabond life took her from exotic locales in the Orient to the lush historical venues of Europe where she attended proms in ancient castles and graduated from high school in a medieval cathedral. When her husband, Terry, earned a direc...

2019 Golden Heart Finalist Sheri Taylor-Emery on The Surprises That Come Along the Way

Hard to believe that RWA Nationals starts one week from today!! We’ve still got a few Omega guests left to introduce before we all gather in New York, and today we’ve got the lovely Sheri Taylor-Emery, a 2019 Golden Heart Finalist for Best Mainstream Fiction with a Central Romance with her book THE SODA FOUNTAIN SISTER AND THE FLOWER LADY. Sheri Taylor-Emery is an art director in Atlanta, Georgia, who found out far too late in life that what she really loves to do is write. She also loves her...
