Do You Have the Jeannine Ryan #Series on Your #SummerReading List?

Author James E. Mosimann James E. Mosimann, Author of Jeannine Ryan Series Creating a summer reading list? Do you have the Jeannine Ryan series on it?
If you love Medical Thrillers and don't have these books, then you might want to reconsider.

How I came to read them:  I saw one of the books on my bi-weekly email from Reading Deals Review Club. The synopsis looked interesting and I requested it. That was when I realized that it was the third book in the series. It so happened that I had spotted the second book for free a day or two earlier. Then book 1 was only 99 cents. So I was set to go. It took a little while but I finished all three books. While I was reading, I got this overwhelming sense that I needed to share about the series on my blog.  I'll start with my version of book blurbs beginning with book one and on through book three.

Misconduct's Deadly Denial: Treachery and Fraud in the Research Lab:  Jeannine Ryan was working on her PhD when her friend, John Martin, was unjustly accused of falsifying data on a potential breast cancer cure. As she does her best to prove the accusations wrong, she realizes there is a much bigger problem and people are dying because of it.

The Assassin Chip: A Medical Device that Kills: Jeannine Ryan has gotten her PhD and is working at a consulting firm. Because of her skill set, Jeannine is assigned to review some data on a device for a client to send to the FDA. However, the data has been cleverly falsified by the handsome and charming head researcher who turned Jeannine's head. After learning the truth, will she be able to prevent a major international incident?

The Prague Plot: The Cold War Meets the Jihad: Jeannine now owns her own consulting firm. She and her partner have been asked by the FDA to review data on a drug which is produced by a foreign based pharmaceutical company. It isn't until all the facts are received and connections are made that the real threat is realized. Will she and her friends be in time to prevent a cataclysmic event?

About the Author (from the back matter of book 1): "James E. Mosimann is a retired biostatistician who spent many years at the Computer Division of the National Institutes of Health. He has a PhD in Zoology from the University of Michigan, and a Masters in Biostatistics from the John Hopkins University. After NIH, he joined the Office of Research Integrity of the Public Health Services, where he was a scientist-investigator for cases of research misconduct..."

What I noticed throughout the books: As you can see, Dr. Mosimann is very knowledgeable in the world of science and math. The math and science is intricate to the story line yet is not overwhelming. As the books progress you see the personal and professional growth of Jeannine. Because she is a female, an auburn-haired beauty, others have a hard time accepting her as competent until she shares her intelligence. Jeannine is strong-willed when she knows she is in the right. Loyal to a fault. A complex character who has captured my heart. I plan on reading book 4, The Carolina Coup: Another Rwandan Genocide at some point in the future. I'd love to see what happens next in Jeannine's life.  As for the cover art, it may seem simple but as you read each book, you'll understand the images and how it plays into the story line.

If you feel as though, you liked to read these books, then you can either click on the cover art below or the author's image above.

Have a great one!

Should #Authors Be Easily Located?

LH Amazon Author Page Amazon Author Page for Lynn Hallbrooks I often wonder if I'm the only one who desires to find out more about an author on Amazon and/or Goodreads. Maybe, since I only started being on social media after becoming a published author, I just expect all authors to have an Amazon Author Central page and a Goodreads Author page. Some place to see a little more about them and to see how and where to connect.

Maybe it is part of my helpful nature to wish to share something with the author in a little more private setting than blasting it all over the Internet. Other times I would like to give the author a shout out on twitter. Sometimes it is my curious nature to see if we have something other than writing in common. It all depends on how I'm feeling or thinking at a given moment.  I just know how disappointing it is to search and not find any way to get the information I'm looking for quickly.

If you are a reader, do you feel the same as I do - you'd like a way to connect with an author?  If you're an author, you'd like to share your social media on Amazon or Goodreads but not sure how? Either way, share with me on the comments or send a quick message on the Contact Us page.

One other quick note: I hope you take a moment or two to remember those who have served and died in or from military combat. They took time to protect and defend their country. Wishing all a Happy Memorial Day Weekend.

Have a great one!

#Authors aren't purrfect but they can come close.

For the Love of Kittens Are you sitting down for this? Are you sitting down for this? Authors are human beings and are therefore imperfect. So why do readers expect books to be perfect?  Not all of us do but we would like them to be as close to it as possible. The reason being is that typos and word errors take many of us away from the story.

What can authors do? Listen to editors, proofreaders, beta-readers before the book is published. Make sure you are uploading the proper version of your book into Amazon or other eBook publishing sites.

What if something gets past the author and is discovered later?  On Amazon they can update their book and then make sure Amazon is aware of the update. After that, Amazon reviews it and determines if the changes warrant a push out to all who have downloaded that book. The reader will be notified of changes and instructed on how to update the book.

Best case scenario get it right the first time, but since we aren't perfect, Amazon provided a back-up plan.

Out of curiosity, how many authors knew that Amazon needs to be notified of updates?

A Place for #Authors & #Readers to Discover Each Other

You ever get the urge to shout about something?  Yep, me too.  I have been touting the services of iAuthorsUK to fellow authors for the last couple of weeks.  I decided that it was high time to bring it to the attention of all book lovers.  [image error] Logo from iAuthorUK website One of the wonderful things about iAuthorsUK is that it has an international following. So people from around the globe are seeing the same thing. Authors post where their bodies of work can be found.  Allowing viewers to see a multitude of bookstores for whatever book they fancy. They simply click on their favorite and are transported there at the speed of their internet connection.

Book lovers can find a bunch of genres or they have the option of looking through themes. There are so many of them that they can't be listed, so here's a little trick. Say you'd like to find a book by a Female U.S. Author, type that into the search engine and see what comes up.

If you have a favorite independent author, you can type in their name and see what they have available. As you explore further you will notice that you can like cover art, book blurbs, recommend and even follow a particular book. You can also follow any author you'd like. I'm not sure, but maybe authors can follow readers as well.

If you have problems while on iAuthorsUK you can always go to their contact page, find the appropriate email address and ask for assistance. I have nothing but high praise for them because they are nice as well as fairly prompt with their response.

Thank you so much iAuthorUK for being a wonderful place for book lovers to discover independent authors' bodies of work.

Y'all have a great one!

Word Glitches

I believe almost every human who writes any form of communication has words that they either cannot spell or they consistently mistype.  There are other times that they type so fast they leave off a letter which can be embarrassing at times. Imagine if you accidentally left off the last letter of the word 'hello' when addressing a church group.

Then there are those words that sound alike and are written the same except for one letter.  Would you really taxi your aircraft out of a hanger and put your clothes on a hangar?  People type the wrong thing for many reasons - top of the list is being a flawed human. Tough to admit but true. If you know and accept your failings that's a start. Using a dictionary website not only for getting the correct spelling but also to verify meaning can aid you immensely in overcoming word glitches.

Knowing our own shortcomings, it  would benefit us all if we took a few minutes to look over our work before we send it out into cyberspace or finalize it on documents bound for the press. One trick that may help is to enlarge or change the font so you can see the letters better.  For example, sometimes a '1' can look like the letter 'l' and vice versa depending on your eye sight and font type.

An email, letter, or short document can easily be gone over and edited by the writer. It is not as simple for books. You can only read it so many times before you stop seeing your own errors.  This is because you know what it is suppose to say. You will think you are seeing the words that are not there. You stop seeing the misspellings and extra words. Put simply, you will need someone else to look over your words. If you don't have an editor or proofreader already, there are lots of listings on Authordb and the Yellow Pages portion of KBoards to begin your search.   As with any service, it doesn't hurt to look at their references.

From one flawed human to another, choose your words wisely and use them well.

Have a great one!

#SeriesReview - Freedom in Love by @NormaBudden #BingeReading

Freedom in Love is an interesting series because it combines many elements. First off, while it is God-centered, leaning more to the Christian based faith, it also features real life situations. Meaning there is death, violence, and sex but it is done in such a way that the words are not harsh yet you can see what happens in your own imagination. Nothing graphic, which makes a difference to many readers.  Second, we have several mysteries that run throughout the whole series. Third, there is love in many forms: romantic love, family love, and God's love.  The last being the most important because without it many things would not have happened.  If you haven't had the opportunity to read the series, then a weekend or even Spring Break might be a great time for some binge-reading.  Be forewarned that past this point, I may give a couple spoilers away.
In the first book, "An Affair to Remember", the reader is introduced to several characters, many will play major parts throughout. Some of whom are complete mysteries, then become part of the main interaction later in the series. In this book most of the story centers around Monica and Chase.
Monica is kidnapped outside her office. Chase is one of the officers assigned to her case. Monica is a writer/editor who has lived a rather sheltered life, so when everything happens she is frightened and clueless as to why anyone would want to harm her. Chase has a gut feeling that something is not right and for reasons never specified has trust issues with his fellow officers. Chase has an overwhelming feeling of protectiveness towards Monica.  When things go south, he was glad for his instincts as they served him well. Unfortunately they also put his family at risk.
Despite this and the fact that Chase and his wife, Bianca, having some marital issues, he takes a chance and calls home. What he heard from Bianca made him take some reckless actions that have permanent consequences.
In the opening of "When Love Abides", the reader is re-introduced to Chase and Monica. They are also provided with some history of what happened in the 8 years since they last saw one another. Secrets are revealed that affect both Chase and Monica's family.  We are also introduced to a female Private Investigator who becomes another major player in future books.
In "Soul Confessions", the reader learns some more about the peripheral characters. This becomes important when the reader gets to "Divided Loyalties" where some of the puzzle pieces fall into place. At the same time, there are a few more questions that come up and have yet to be addressed. Will we, the readers, get our answer in "The Promise"?
Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until later this year.  Meantime, why not follow Ms. Norma Budden via her social media links to see if you can pick up some clues as to when the new book will be out. Then maybe you can plan another binge-read after it is released. I'm sure I will as well, just because I get even more out of the stories each time I read them.  I love the series that much. I hope you will come to love it as well.
