One Day At A Time

I am trying to remember to take each day as it comes.  My best laid plans for getting a certain amount of work done...usually doesn't happen because of this thing called life. It has a tendency to get in the way.  No matter what the reason for the delay, I still plug along doing my best.  Sometimes, I am rewarded with a treasure that I didn't even know that I was looking for.

Yesterday, I happened upon a book review by a new friend, James, on Goodreads.  The book was about e-book publishing.  I thought great, if James likes it then I'm sure some of my followers might as well.  James' review of The (almost) Complete DIY Guide to eBook Publishing ran on both Goodreads as well as his blog.  James rated it four out of five and very useful for up and coming authors/writers.  I had one minor disagreement with something he said.  I posted a comment and he agreed that my suggestion was a good one.  So if you would like to learn more, please be sure and see what was said on either Goodreads or James' blog.

My bonus treasure came when I clicked to learn more about the book and its author, Coral Russell.  Her author picture consisted of a t-shirt that said: Eat, Sleep, Read

I started to laugh out loud.  I  had to explain to my friend why I was laughing.  So afterwards, she wanted to know where Coral had gotten the t-shirt.  After a chat with my fellow author (who is a very nice person by the way)  it turns out that Coral isn't wearing the shirt.  It is an image from cafe press' reading section. I will have to warn everyone...this site can be addictive and can lead to serious drain on your wallet and time if you allow it to take over.

Welcome to Coral and our other new followers.  Hope you have a great one!

Remember that even though you may not be where you thought you should be or doing what you set out to do.  Life has a way of putting you exactly where you needed to be, doing what you needed to be doing.  I have to admit sometimes, I feel like one of God's strong-willed stubborn characters that is trying to get my own way. Then He has to re-write my scenes from time to time so I will get to the final chapters of my life's story - the way He wants it to be. It can be very humbling. Anybody else ever get that feeling?

Happy Fifth Weekend in July

As I understand it...it is rare to have five Fridays, five Saturdays and five Sundays in one month. So glad to be able to share it with my friends, family and followers.

There is a lot going on behind the scenes of Call Sign Wrecking Crew LLC.  I will be happy to share all of it in due course.  I will however mention that our book Call Sign: Wrecking Crew (Storm Warning) is undergoing an edit update process.  Mostly so that it can go through Smashwords and be delivered to the deployed troops through Operation e-book Drop

My main purpose today is to mention our guest blog appearance on Violet Yates blog, Hawaiian Violet.  I hope to have Violet on my blog in the near future.

I have also been busy posting a daily column on Independent Authors and Writers (IAW).  You can find me over there throughout the day checking to see who's page link might be up next for book of the day.  Sundays will be author of the day.  So since it isn't fair to call it just Book of the Day or Author of the Day, I've been calling it Lynn's Literary Listing. Hope my fellow published authors keep returning to see what is in store next on IAW.

I hope everyone has a great one!

Tick, tick, tick

Time is running out on our Sizzling Summer Sale.  You can find our e-books on Amazon Kindle, U.S.; Amazon Kindle, U.K.; and Barnes & Noble, U.S. for only $2.99 (U.S.) each.  For those that look for genre first and content later, our book is Action/Adventure/Political Intrigue.  So if you are interested, please be sure to visit us before midnight CST Friday, 22 July 2011.  After that it will jump back up to $5.99 (U.S.) each for some time.

On to other news, I'm still settling into my new position at Independent Authors and Writers where I pick and place the book of the day on their companion Facebook fan page.  So far, every author has expressed positive emotion towards being picked.  I truly hope that you have had time to check us out.  If not, please be sure to make some time, you never know what you might learn or see that might make a difference in your own personal life.

Mark W. has been a blessing to me in so many ways.  Today, he put a blog out that I just have to share.  It is about e-book pricing.  Jenny H. had something on her techie talk Tuesday that some of you might be interested in.

Welcome to all of our new followers.  I hope you enjoy our little blog. It has been our journey and way of paying things forward.

I truly hope that you all have a great one!

Whirlwind

The last few days have been a flurry of activity for us.  So much so that I can't recall what happened first so I'll just let you in on some of the highlights...

Yours truly has been tagged to help out on Independent Authors as a 'columnist' who picks the 'book of the day'.  I've gotten to do this twice now on the Facebook fan page, which now connects to twitter directly...way cool!  So I've been using twitter symbols to help communicate across a lot of virtual territory with just a few keystrokes.

We got accepted to send our e-book to the deployed troops through Operation e-book Drop.  One catch though, we have to put it on Smashwords.  So after getting information on how to go about doing that, I started the process.  Might even do a little more proofing before finalizing it for distribution too. Have to take breaks from Smashwords before my brain gets too frazzled. That's okay the end result will be worth all the effort.

We are about to turn off the heat on our Sizzling Summer Sale.  So if you haven't had a chance to purchase any of our e-books then please be sure and visit either Amazon, U.S., Amazon, U.K., or Barnes & Noble (U.S.) before Saturday, July 23, 2011 when the price will jump from $2.99 each to the regular price of $5.99 each.

During all of this flurry, I've 'virtually met' a lot of interesting people.  It has been a relationship of give, take, learn and share.

To all of my virtual followers, thanks and have a great one!

A special shout out to David McKoy, my friend, co-author, and co-owner. Without his not so gently nudging, none of this would be possible.  Of course, with our Heavenly Father nothing is impossible so thanks to Him most of all.

New Website and Other Help For Fellow Authors

Sorry, I haven't been posting much lately.  I've been busy helping out around the house and trying to promote our sale. Update: we've had two sales from Amazon Kindle since the Sizzling Summer Sale began.  None from Barnes and Noble but we still have ten more days left to go.

I've also been submitting posts on a newly designed website for Independent Authors and Writers.  It was inspired by conversations on Amazon's Meet Our Authors Forum as a way for self-published a.k.a. independent authors to self-promote without major limitations.  So if this is of interest to you might want to check it out it or visit their Facebook Fan Page.

I've also recently found some blog articles that you might find interesting.  One is tips for writing fiction and another is about what not to write...that is if you want a good review.

I certainly hope this helps you out in some way.  Welcome to our new followers.  A quick note to everyone, I do appreciate comments but please keep them G-rated.

Have a great one!

Sizzling Summer Sale Update

In the spirit of fair play, I made a unilateral decision to put our Barnes and Noble e-book on sale as well.  So no matter if you have a Kindle or a Nook you can get a bargain basement price on our Action/Adventure/Political Intrigue book.  It begins today and ends in 2 weeks.

A Quick Update and Other Notes of Interest

Amazon put our Paperback and Kindle editions in the same general location so now the public can see both books in one place.  This made the URLs slightly different.  I went in and corrected on our website but...if somebody tried to get there before I corrected them, well you get the picture.  So now here are the new locations to click on for Amazon Kindle and Amazon Paperback.

I also thought these two tidbits of information might be appreciated.  Mark speaks on financial matters while Jenny speaks about blog blues. Thanks Mark and Jenny for your wisdom and insight.

As always, it is my pleasure to serve you.

Sharing thoughts

I must admit that I like to read other people's blogs.  As I get through them, I usually either obtain information, leave words of encouragement, humor, thanks, insight, or just participate.  I try to pay it forward by relaying things that I feel would be relevant to my followers while at the same time spotlighting my fellow bloggers efforts.

Today is no exception.  I have a follow-up on the Excel spreadsheet and some information from Wise Words about formatting for Smashwords, another way of self-publishing.

The place where I'm staying is about to get chaotic with a flurry of summertime events and visiting relatives.  I mention this only because I'm not sure when I will be able to share more nuggets of information with you.  Just know that I've enjoyed sharing them with you.  I hope that you find them useful.

Have a great one.
