Commentary on “The Lament of Hermes the Egyptian.”

This is a commentary on the video, Lament of Hermes, which was posted yesterday.  - Tom Z

The Lament, part of the Asclepius, is a prophecy, describing the end of the Egyptian civilisation. It is an insight into a lost world, one which we are at pains to comprehend.

Philip Coppens

horus_01Long before John allegedly wrote the Apocalypse on the island of Patmos, an unknown Egyptian wrote down the Lament, which some have titled “The Apocalypse”, for it prophesized the demise of the Egyptian religion. The Asclepius is sometimes not treated as part of the Corpus Hermeticum, as its Greek text was lost and it is only partially preserved in Latin. Some have described it as “one of the most moving passages of prose I have read from Classical Antiquity”. It predicted that “there will come a time when it will be seen that in vain have the Egyptians honoured the divinity with a pious mind and with assiduous service. All their holy worship will become inefficacious.” It predicted the end of the world – the Egyptian world.

“Do you not know, Asclepius, that Egypt is an image of heaven or, to be more precise, that everything governed and moved in heaven came down to Egypt and was transferred there? If truth were told, our land is the temple of the whole world.” It is one of the most quoted relatively ancient Egyptian texts, though it is actually part of the Corpus Hermeticum and thus by some to be considered not Egyptian at all. It is the “extended and unabridged edition” of the dictum “as above, so below”. Some have labelled this the summary of the entire system of traditional and modern magic, while others believe it holds the key to all mysteries. It suggests that the macrocosmos was reflected in the microcosmos, a concept which formed the basis of astrology. For Robert Bauval, Wim Zitman and many others, it meant that Egypt’s monuments (read: pyramids) were earthly representations of the heavens, specifically creating a correspondence between the layout of the stars in the sky and the pyramids on Earth. For philosophers, it means that God was not some distant entity, but that God was the same as man, and man was God, each of us containing a divine spark. Most importantly, it also formed the backbone of magic, as it worked with correspondences. An act that was done here on Earth, had a correspondence in Heaven; asking a statue of a god on Earth was delivered to that god above. Continue reading

Hermes’ Lament for Souls Incarnate

This video is followed by a transcript of the text that the viewer can refer to. Tomorrow I will post a commentary on The Lament of Hermes. Tom Z

In fact it should be said that the whole Cosmos dwells in this our land as in a sanctuary. And yet, since it is fitting that wise men should have knowledge of all events before they come to pass, you must not be left in ignorance of what I will now tell you. There will come a time when it will have been in vain that Egyptians have honored the Godhead with heartfelt piety and service; and all our holy worship will be fruitless and ineffectual.

The gods will return from earth to heaven; Egypt will be forsaken, and the land which was once the home of religion will be left desolate, bereft of the presence of its deities.

O Egypt, Egypt, of thy religion nothing will remain but an empty tale, which thine own children in time to come will not believe; nothing will be left but graven words, and only the stones will tell of thy piety.

And in that day men will be weary of life, and they will cease to think the universe worthy of reverent wonder and worship.

They will no longer love this world around us, this incomparable work of God, this glorious structure which he has built, this sum of good made up of many diverse forms, this instrument whereby the will of God operates in that which he has made, ungrudgingly favoring man’s welfare; this combination and accumulation of all the manifold things that call forth the veneration, praise, and love of the beholder.

Darkness will be preferred to light, and death will be thought more profitable than life; no one will raise his eyes to heaven; the pious will be deemed insane, the impious wise; the madman will be thought a brave man, and the wicked will be esteemed as good.

As for the soul, and the belief that it is immortal by nature, or may hope to attain to immortality, as I have taught you, – all this they will mock, and even persuade themselves that it is false.

No word of reverence or piety, no utterance worthy of heaven, will be heard or believed.

And so the gods will depart from mankind, – a grievous thing! – and only evil angels will remain, who will mingle with men, and drive the poor wretches into all manner of reckless crime, into wars, and robberies, and frauds, and all things hostile to the nature of the soul.

Then will the earth tremble, and the sea bear no ships; heaven will not support the stars in their orbits, all voices of the gods will be forced into silence; the fruits of the Earth will rot; the soil will turn barren, and the very air will sicken with sullen stagnation; all things will be disordered and awry, all good will disappear.

But when all this has befallen, Asclepius, then God the Creator of all things will look on that which has come to pass, and will stop the disorder by the counterforce of his will, which is the good. He will call back to the right path those who have gone astray; he will cleanse the world of evil, washing it away with floods, burning it out with the fiercest fire, and expelling it with war and pestilence.

And thus he will bring back his world to its former aspect, so that the Cosmos will once more be deemed worthy of worship and wondering reverence, and God, the maker and maintainer of the Mighty Fabric, will be adored by the men of that day with continuous songs of praise and blessing.

Such is the new birth of the Cosmos; it is a making again of all things good, a holy and awe-inspiring restoration of all nature; and it is wrought inside the process of Time by the eternal Will of the Creator.”

Dr. Daniel Siegel: Neuroscience and the Mind

SiegelThis is an excellent talk by Dr. Daniel Siegel. He is one of the few neuroscientists who are talking about the mind. He does not himself acknowledge the psychic and spirit realities but in his model of the mind, it leaves open the possibility that the mind – the soul – is using the brain to create its own reality.

The importance of this model is that it does not rule out a place for consciousness as a creative force in itself. The model views consciousness (thought and reflection) as a force operating in the frontal cortex which regulates the body through regulating the brain, capable even of changing neural pathways to bring the body back into harmony.

This is a promising model for those of us who acknowledge the psychic, astral, and spirit realities and who want to integrate that knowledge with what we know about the physical body and the brain.

Dr. Siegel does a very nice job of urging science to this next level.

Fractals: As Above, So Below.

This post about fractals is beautifully done. We have all seen pictures of fractals, I’m sure. They’re stunning. This time, the photo below struck me as a visual rendering of the fundamental law found in the Emerald Tablet — “As above, so below.” To find the fractal – which we know to be an infinite pattern – operating in nature  makes me wonder how far physical science can follow that pattern before it disappears into some sub-atomic level. It makes me wonder if it is the Light becoming matter.– Tom Z

Fractal Nature

Incredible Photographs of Fractals Found in the Natural World

Fractals aren’t just something you learn about in math class. They are also a gorgeous part of the natural world. Here are some of the most stunning examples of these repeating patterns that look the same no matter how far you zoom in or out. Continue reading.

This is 20-second animation of the fractal as it grows. Mesmerizing.

“We are Soul First”

The following is a quote from Sri Sri Ramachandra Guruji.

“Karma is the root cause of success and failure.”

We are soul first, before we are mind or body. Soul is the carrier of message.

The karmic layer around the soul influences the mind and expresses on the body. Soul healing uses the POWER of Soul to cleanse these karmic blockages of the past and present which is the cause for all our current sufferings.

By accessing the Power of Soul we can Expand our spiritual awareness, Heal multi-lifetime karmic patterns, Boost energy and stamina, Improve vitality and immunity, Prevent sickness, Build conscious connections with our spirit guides, Achieve personal and professional goals, Rejuvenate and Transform each and every aspect of Life.

Spirit Release – London Conference – June 22, 2013

Spirit attachment or intrusion is not yet recognized in mainstream psychology and psychiatry as a possible source of an individual’s problems. Hypnotherapy is the one area where you can find discussion of this phenomenon and how to deal with it.

This June, Spirit Release Forum will host a one-day conference addressing the issue of spirit attachment. This conference is for anyone who wants to know more about spirit attachment and intrusion, how to recognize it, and what we know so far about dealing with it.

Spirit Release: Helping Lost Souls Move into the Light
A One-Day Conference – Saturday 22 June 2013

Speakers: Dr Tom ZinserArchibald Lawrie, Dr Terence Palmer, Sue Allen and Natalia O’Sullivan

Chairman: David Furlong

At death the soul of the deceased should first separate from the physical body before beginning its transition through to the spirit realm. Those who have had a ‘Near Death Experience’ describe travelling through a tunnel into the realm of Light. Occasionally, for many different reasons, some souls fail to make this transition and become trapped close to the earth plane, where they continue to exist in a ‘between world’ state. Sometimes they remain close to where they died or where they had lived; sometimes they attach themselves to a living person to try to continue experiencing through them.

In almost all cases these souls are in a disturbed state because they are effectively stuck yet, nevertheless, can still exert a disquieting influence on those that come into contact with them. A growing band of specialist healers, in recognising this problem, have developed a series of techniques to assist and release these souls, whether from a place or from within a person, back into the realms of spirit where they can receive proper support and help.

This conference bringing together a panel of experts in this field will share their experiences of spirit release and the techniques that can be used to help these lost souls.

The aims of the conference:

To consider why some souls become stuck and earthbound
Discuss how earthbound souls can be released from places
Consider the way that a soul might attach to an individual and the process of release
To hear many anecdotal evidential accounts from a number of experts in the field of spirit release

Who will benefit?

The conference will be an important source of information to all those interested in the concept of ‘spirit-release’ both from a clinical as well as general perspective. Recognising that ‘earth-bound’ spirits can be a cause for disturbance both from within a person as well as a place, helps us take a step forward in resolving problem situations. At a personal level, when we too come make our transition, it might be helpful to know the pitfalls that could cause us to become stuck.

For more details, go to Spirit Release Forum.

Soul-Centered Healing – New Book Release

SCH Book 2 thumbnail CROPPEDClose

The Practice of Soul-Centered Healing

Vol. I: Protocols and Procedures

The Practice of Soul-Centered Healing – Vol. I: Protocols and Procedures is written for hypnotherapists who wish to incorporate the methods of Soul-Centered Healing into their own practice. In his first book, Soul-Centered Healing, Tom Zinser told the story of his fifteen-year collaboration with a spirit entity named Gerod that resulted in this distinctive method of healing that engages directly the psychic and spirit dimensions of the self and reality. Soul-Centered Healing recognizes that there are conditions, entities, and forces operating at unconscious levels that can be a source of problems and difficulties.

The Practice of Soul-Centered Healing is a companion volume that presents the basic protocols and procedures for working in these unconscious dimensions. Dr. Zinser discusses each protocol and gives specific instruction on how to implement them. Along with this instruction, he presents a wealth of examples drawn from verbatim transcripts of client sessions. This book is for therapists who are encountering these deeper levels of psyche and soul in their healing work with clients.

Talking about Heart – Joseph Chilton Pearce

This is a great video of Joseph Chilton Pearce interviewed by Karen and Chuck Robison (http://www.youtube.com/user/whatifitreallyworks). I first learned of Pearce when I read his book, “The Crack in the Cosmic Egg,” co-authored with Thom Hartmann and published in 1973. I have been a fan ever since. I think he talks about what is important. He’s 86 now and in this interview he talks about what he believes is the most important of all – the heart. There has been a lot of talk about the heart recently, and Pearce talks about it from a deep well of experience. He is a spiritual seeker who has something to tell us.
