Humpday Hook
Yes, it’s me, back again like the proverbial wet weekend.
Humpday Hook is a collection of authors posting bits of their work that beg the question “what happens next?”
I wasn’t too sure what to do for this iteration of hooking so, for one week only, I’m going to be shameless. I woke up this morning to a terrific review from the TBR Pile for my novella Alike As Two Bees, from a reviewer who seemed a bit baffled why she loved the story so much but give it five stars anyway! The review is here plu...

Blackbean pooch and other randomness
Last night, while stirring the wok with more enthusiasm than finesse, I managed to splash the dog with black bean sauce. He quite liked it and spent the evening grooming himself but couldn’t do the top of his head. He has quite a faux-hawk today. It really suits him.
Here’s Audi cashing in on this summer’s block busters – Star Trek and Iron Man.
And here’s a picture of the machine gun I was fiddling with at lunchtime to see how easy it would be too shoot out of a car window. It’s a Great War Be...

Dates for the diary
Only one week left to get your names down for the Hop Against Homophobia and Transphobia!
I’ll be blogging about – something. Not too sure yet. And offering a prize – probably gift certificates rather than copies of my books because I figure that this giveaway is about the Hop and not about me.
More info later.

Seductive Studs & Sirens
May the 4th be with you and all that. So today I suppose I should post some slashy Star Wars fanfic but naaaah, I wouldn’t inflict that on the group.
What group? Well the Seductive Studs and Sirensgroup of course, where authors band together to provide 150 word snippets of their work either published or from their WIPs and bloggers write about the same length pieces about LGBT themed works or authors. Click on the link or the badge to get to the list of authors/bloggers etc.

Today in the Comfy Chair – Ross McCoubrey
Today my guest is a young writer who I first met through one of those “oooh they look interesting” follow-clicks on Twitter, just because his work looked as though it might appeal to me. I am so glad I did follow because Ross has proved to be both interesting and fun and his work is delightful.
Welcome, Ross, and thank you for agreeing to answer my questions.
~~~
Elin: Can you tell me a little about yourself? For instance, do you have to have a day job as well as being a writer?
Ross and Assistan...
A to Z Challenge – Z is for …
Zombies!!!!
No, not really
Actually it’s for the other Z.
These little stripey horses look spectacular and over the years many people have tried to train them in the same way as one would train ordinary domesticated horses. They met with limited success, because the domestic equine has been selectively bred for 8000 years not just for strength speed and stamina but for tractability.
Zebras are still too close to the wild to be handled like a horse and despite rumours that Roman emperors travelled...
A to Z Challenge – Y is for
Ypres – though the lads who went there tended to call it Wipers.
Next year will be the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the Great War – a conflict that finally put paid to the notion that war was glorious and buried it under a crossroads with a stake through its heart.
My little town did its best to play its part and sent a battalion of young men. They arrived on the front line to take part in the assault upon the Ypres Salie...
Today in the Comfy Chair – Aleksandr Voinov
My guest today has many strings to his bow with a successful publishing history in both German and English and now, additionally, as part owner of a highly successful publishing house, Riptide Publishing . Aleksandr Voinov’s work has been described as “darkly erotic, filled with gritty, violent, sexy incident” and I am very pleased that he has agreed to take the time to answer some of my questions.
Hi Aleks!
Aleks: Hi Elin! Thank you for inviting me over for a chat!
Elin: Your work encompasses m...
A to Z Challenge – X is for
Ten — in Roman numerals
Oh come on! How much in history begins with X?
Click on the picture for the long linky list of participants in the A to Z Challenge, which is now drawing to its close.
So Roman numerals. We’re all familiar with these – showing the year of making at the end of films and TV shows if nowhere else. They often figure in dates on sculptures and inscriptions, or on official documents. Anywhere that the makers want a bit of gravitas. Having the date in roman numerals adds the wei...
Seductive Studs and Sirens – a new snippety blog hop
Yes, I know. It’s daft me trying to kid anyone that I’m writing Seductive, but this hop is LGBT friendly and I hope other hoppers will forgive me if my content is less than arousing. Rather than post blah- snippets, I’m going to write about what I’m reading.
Surviving an American Gulag by Edward C Patterson.
It is 1967, the height of the Vietnam War, and the draft is in ful swing. In addition to the husky all-American boys, the less than perfect draftees have to negotiate their way through the...
