Your First Peek at VAGABONDS
Okay, friends…at this stage of the game, I have to admit something. I’m still going to be quite secretive about this story. I’m not ready to leak a lot of details yet. That said, I do want to share a little bit, just to whet your appetite. This story will have the feel of Bullet–gritty, raw, realistic…and young. Even my Street Team admins don’t know a lot, so don’t go threatening them for details.
I had an idea for a teaser, which–thank you to Sarah, my graphics guru–I hope will give you a feel for where the story is going. And, since we didn’t tell you in the picture teaser, I’m going to tell you now–the main character, Kyle Summers, is female. I figured I’d better clear that up right now.
So, without further ado, I give you your first glimpse at Vagabonds:
Excerpt
I heard some DJ on the radio the other day introducing my song—you know, “Ecstatic”? Yeah, that song. I laughed so hard when he said this album was a strong debut from me. I suppose I shouldn’t be amused, because at least he knew I was one of the former guitarists from The Vagabonds. But as my damn song has climbed up the Billboard charts, I’m shocked and surprised that so many people have never heard of me. It’s not like I’ve been languishing in obscurity or hiding from the press. I’ve been here, people, been working my ass off. You just haven’t been watching.
I can’t be angry, though, because part of me feels like it’s about goddamn time. I’ve been out here, playing my ass off, writing some killer music and sick lyrics, and I haven’t had many people listening since I parted ways with The Vagabonds. Huge thanks to my hardcore fans, though, for buying the last two solo albums. I don’t know where I’d be without you, but it looks like the rest of the world finally got on board.
This book is for them. Sorry, fans—you already know my story. You know how I started out. You know my whole story with The Vagabonds and my struggles since. You know where I came from. You know about my friends and enemies. You guys are the ones who’ve kept me rockin’. No…this is for all the newbies, all the people who think this album that’s selling like there’s no tomorrow is my first one, all the people who think I’m “a find,” like I just got here.
This is your wake-up call. Wanna take a ride?

Blast from the Past: Feverish
I’m still converting old pages on my website to blog posts. Thanks for bearing with me. This week, we’ll be looking at everything Bullet! Today, let’s check out Feverish!
Blurb:
…To be loved by the good guy
…To be fucked by the bad boy
He’ll make you FEVERISH either way…
Clayton “Jet” Smith has enjoyed acting the part of rock star god / incorrigible bad boy since his breakup with rock goddess Valerie Quinn. He’s racking up quite a score playing the field, and he has no plans to settle down anytime soon. His biggest problem these days is meeting his obligations. He’s so busy having fun, he forgets the important things.
To help him out, he hires recent graduate Emily Brinkman to be his personal assistant, and he quickly finds a fire burning in his belly for her. There are two problems, however. The first is that Emily is engaged to be married, a fact that leaves Jet unfazed. The second problem isn’t so easy to surmount, though: Emily is disgusted and unimpressed by both sides of the man.
Will Clay find a way to persuade Emily to try him out, not just for one night, but for all time?
Excerpt:
Emily cracked the door to Clay’s music room open and peeked in. He was sitting on the loveseat on one side of the room, strumming and listening to the sound coming out of the smaller amp on the floor. Emily walked in. She didn’t know if leaving the door open would ruin the acoustics, so she shut it behind her quietly.
He was a sight. He was completely absorbed in his music, and she didn’t want to interrupt him, so she sat on a stool near the door. After a few seconds, though, he looked up at Emily and stopped fingering the guitar. He smiled. “What’s up?”
She felt better just because of the way he was looking at her. She knew what she needed. She could feel her heart thudding in her chest, but she had to force the words out of her mouth. “I, uh…I need to talk to Jet.”
He squinted his eyes, not fully registering her words at first. He sucked in a deep breath and stood, resting his guitar in the stand at the end of the loveseat. “You sayin’ what I think you’re sayin’?”
Her breathing seemed so loud in her own ears, but she couldn’t make it quieter. She stood and nodded. “Yeah.”
She took a tentative step toward him but he was in front of her in seconds. She wasn’t quite sure how it had happened, but it was as though they let the electricity between them take over. Her arms were around his waist, his hands in her hair drawing her close, and their lips collided as they gave in to everything they’d been holding back for so long.
His kiss was deliberate and delicious, his tongue, warm and smooth but firm and insistent. In those first few moments, her body primed itself for his touch. In reality, though, she knew she’d been primed for this man for a long time. She was just now giving in to her needs.
He pulled back a little and asked, “You sure you want this?” She nodded. “What about your fiancé?”
“He’s not my fiancé anymore.”
Clay raised his eyebrows. “What about crossing the employer/ employee line you were worried about?”
“I don’t give a fuck.”
Little known fact:
Thank you to Sarah with my Street Team for coming up with the tagline, “To be loved…”.

Earth Day Sale!!!
Some of you already knew it and others of you puzzled it out on your own, but for those of you who hadn’t figured it out, I’m a bit of an environmentalist…a “tree hugger,” as my brother-in-law so lovingly called me one time. Anyway, there’s one character in the thirty-plus books I’ve written who is a fellow environmentalist. His “message” is not heavy-handed and he is another sexy book boyfriend–and if you haven’t yet read Finger Bang, it’s time to quit putting it off.
Why? Well…because, for one day only, I’m offering it on sale. 99 cents on all online venues, because today, 4/22/15, is Earth Day. Blaze, your earth-friendly leading man, would approve!

The Blurb
Orgasmic Meditation? Therapeutic?! Kaylee Baker is horrified when her girlfriends suggest a trip to artsy Boulder, Colorado, to check out the latest craze. What her friends don’t know about Kaylee is that she is a little repressed, bordering on frigid, and the idea of a complete stranger bringing her to orgasm—therapeutic or not—is horrifying.
Blaze Donahue has admired Kaylee from afar for quite some time, and part of the reason he’s kept his distance is because he’s had no indication that she might even be interested. But when he’s given the opportunity to offer her his own version of OM with no strings attached, he makes an offer she has a hard time refusing.
When there are undeniable sparks between the two, Kaylee runs, afraid of the overwhelming feelings she has for this gorgeous, sensitive guy. Blaze feels compelled to convince her otherwise but wonders if he’ll be able to crack through the ice surrounding this sweet girl. Can they find true love or will it just be a one-time O?
Excerpt
Blaze showed no inkling of having registered his sister’s last words. Kaylee began to feel awkward then. What the hell would she say to this super hot guy after a conversation like that? She had decided to ask him how classes were going when he said, “I can’t blame you really. I don’t think I could do that either.” He grinned. “Even though I find the idea intriguing.” Kaylee felt her cheeks redden again, but she smiled before looking down at her glass once more. “Not gonna pay for it, though. Fuck that.”
Kaylee picked up her glass and sipped what little water was left in it, simply to have something to do. Her alcohol glass was drained as well, both down to ice cubes. She didn’t know what to say so she nodded her head and smiled. She’d always found Blaze’s looks and charm intimidating, so she was feeling more than a little tongue-tied. She didn’t want him to think she was a snooty bitch, though, so she said, “I agree.”
He rested his chin on his arms on the chair and said, “What’s the part that has you freaking out more? The fact that it would be a stranger or that you’d be paying for it?”
His question helped her relax a little. It felt like he was taking a practical approach and wanted to discuss the matter as two adults. They weren’t actually talking about orgasms or…fingers and clits, for God’s sake. So she took a deep breath and gave the matter a little thought. It didn’t take long for her to say, “I think it’s that it’s a stranger.” She didn’t know why she felt compelled to continue—especially with Blaze—but she did. “Seriously. It’s hard enough to relax and then you have someone you’ve never met before trying to make you feel good. I can’t imagine.” She smiled and rolled her eyes, hoping she appeared relaxed now, because she was far from it.
Blaze didn’t intend to help the matter at all. “What if it was you and me?”
Had she heard him right? And why the hell was her heart thudding in her chest? She had a hard time sucking in a breath, but when she was able to, she asked, “What do you mean?” Her voice was so low, she was surprised he could hear it.
“If I was the therapist.” He sat up and used the index and middle fingers of both his hands to air quote his last word. “You know…my sister, Maddy, and Shannon go to Boulder to have some stranger finger bang them, but what if someone you knew took care of you here?”
Her jaw didn’t drop to the table but she had lost all words. She just wished she could figure out if Blaze was yanking her chain or making her the offer of a lifetime.

Blast from the Past: Rock Bottom
I’m still converting old pages on my website to blog posts. Thanks for bearing with me. This week, we’ll be looking at everything Bullet!
Rock Bottom, the much-anticipated sequel to Bullet.
Ethan Richards has fought depression and a host of other demons all his adult life, and it’s caused him to lose everything—his wife, his son, his friends, and he almost loses the one thing that means the most to him—his band. He hits rock bottom and believes there is no way out. Enter Jenna McCormick, a feisty drug and alcohol counselor, a woman with her own share of troubles. She finds Ethan intriguing but keeps him at a distance while trying to help him face life without crutches. She feels a spark but denies it, knowing that a relationship with unstable Ethan could be dangerous for both of them.
Ethan knows what he wants, though, and isn’t used to being told no. Jenna isn’t willing to risk Ethan losing his tenuous grip on sobriety, however, and is prepared to deny her deeper feelings to help Ethan climb out of his hole, but he learns how to let go of his pain when he finds that someone is prepared to walk with him through the shadows. Can he convince Jenna that they should take a chance on love or will they forever deny their feelings in an effort to keep Ethan on the straight and narrow?
~ ~ ~
While Rock Bottom is my second bestselling book, there are still hundreds (perhaps more) of Bullet fans who refuse to read the book–that’s how much that hate Ethan!
~ ~ ~
Excerpt :
“You planning to help me set the room up?”
Ethan smiled and walked in behind her. “I’d be happy to.”
He started unfolding chairs and setting them up while Jenna filled the coffee pot up with water. When she started filling the filter with coffee grounds, Ethan asked, “So…do you have any plans tomorrow night?” She took a deep breath. No. That was what she’d feared. Before she could respond, he said, “I ask because I have two tickets to a band out of Pueblo I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about, and I don’t want to go by myself.”
She couldn’t resist. “What kind of music?”
She didn’t turn around to see the look on his face, but she could hear the smile just the same. “What kind do you think?”
It was a lie when she said, “You might be into jazz for all I know.” She’d known a little about him and his band before he’d come into her life, but since he’d become a regular in her group sessions, she’d done quite a bit of research. She knew damn good and well that he was a heavy metal lover just like she was. She thought she’d read that his favorite band was Suicide Silence. So she didn’t think he was inviting her to a jazz concert…but one never knew.
He started laughing. “Yeah…I look like the jazz type, don’t I?” He unfolded another chair and set it down. “Actually, I respect the hell out of jazz. But you’re right. Not a jazz band. Metal. Their name is Pretty Little Lies. Have you heard of them?”
“No. But I don’t get out much.”
“Well, we can change that.”
She switched on the coffee pot and then turned around to face Ethan. “I really don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“Yeah, I kind of gathered that from previous conversations. I want to make you a deal, though.”
She couldn’t resist, even though she knew it was the worst idea ever. “And that would be?”
He set down the last chair and walked over to her. “We just go as friends…you know, to have fun. No pressure. Nothing at stake. Just two music lovers going to enjoy a band.”
Her eyes searched his. She couldn’t tell if he was being sincere or just shining her on, but he was irresistible to her. She sighed. “Okay, all right. And then do you promise to stop bugging me?”
“Bugging you? I’m bugging you?”
She smiled. “You know what I mean.”
He smirked. “Maybe.” He knew he had to move quickly. “So can I get your number before people come in so we can work out the details tomorrow morning?”
Against her better judgment, she gave him her cell number, and he added it to his phone. He’d just stuck his phone back in his pocket when the next person arrived for group. He winked and took his seat and damned if she didn’t find herself distracted for the rest of the night.

Blast from the Past: Bullet
I’m still converting old pages on my website to blog posts. Thanks for bearing with me. This week, we’ll be looking at everything Bullet! Today is the book that started it all, the very first book, simply entitled Bullet.
In a nutshell: What if you discover the man you want is toxic?
She tasted a little bit of heaven with him, and now they’ve gone through hell and back, but can their relationship take anymore?
Valerie Quinn is a naïve college freshman when she meets on-the-rise rock star Ethan Richards. He’s an idealistic, handsome, reckless young man, but he’s captured her heart. She doesn’t give up on him and eventually his walls crumble down. By the time Valerie has given herself to him completely, she discovers he’s damaged and may be beyond help. Can she save Ethan and their relationship before he implodes, or will he self-destruct and take her with him?
Trivia: The oldest book I almost finished writing. It was the first rock star book I ever wrote. I’d decided it would just be a rough draft sitting in the bottom of my trunk of writing, but then…inspiration hit and I figured out how to make it work!
Fun Facts: Here’s a mostly complete playlist of the music I listened to while writing this book. Basically, it’s just a list of all the songs fueling BULLET. Some I was just listening to (because I’m always playing music when I write) and some were as inspiration (which I note below):
Here ya go:
Full CDs:
New American Gospel Lamb of God
Blood In This Moment (especially the song “Burn,” where Val realizes who she really loves [“There was a song in my head that played, one that would never be written, one I’d never sing, but one that my soul was singing for him, crying for him, one that would never not need him”] and “Adrenalize,” for the HOT scenes before!!!)
Shadows are Security As I Lay Dying (Jet!…especially “Through Struggle,” “Confined,” and “The Darkest Nights”)
No Time to Bleed Suicide Silence (Ethan and Val first meet)
The Black Crown Suicide Silence
The Cleansing Suicide Silence
Songs:
“Tempest” Deftones (Brad and Val)
“Moon Baby” Godsmack (Ethan on guitar having an alpha male moment when Val first meets the band)
“So Hott” Kid Rock (Sweetheart Dance)
“Gone Sovereign/Absolute Zero” Stone Sour
“Still Swingin” and “Where Did the Angels Go” Papa Roach
“Pleasure and Pain” Gemini Syndrome
“Soldierhead” Newsted
“Chalk Outline” Three Days Grace
“Forgive and Forget” and “Relentless Chaos” Miss May I
“Hollow” Alice in Chains
“Crewcabanger” Chelsea Grin (Ethan and Val get NASTY in the hallway!)
“94 Hours,” “Parallels,” and cover of Judas Priest’s “The Hellion/ Electric Eye” As I Lay Dying

Blast from the Past: Bullet (The Series)
I’m still converting old pages on my website to blog posts. Thanks for bearing with me. This week, we’ll be looking at everything Bullet!
Bullet began as a standalone. If you’ve read the foreword in the book, Jade explains that it is closely based on a book she wrote when she was eighteen. Obviously, much has changed since that original book, but the original premise did not. It’s a rock star book but unlike any you’ve ever read. One of the rockers is female, and the story revolves around the local independent music scene. Bullet has been called “gritty” and “raw” by dozens of reviewers, and Jade makes no apologies for that.
Once Jade was inspired by readers to turn Bullet into a series, she decided quickly what books would be in it:
Bullet, February 2013
Rock Bottom (Ethan’s happy ever after), September 2013
Feverish (Jet’s HEA), October 2013
Fully Automatic (Bullet retold from Brad’s point of view…but don’t even begin to think it’s just a retelling!), January 2014
Christmas Stalkings, a novella, December 2014
Slash and Burn (Nick’s HEA), January 2015
Zane’s HEA, coming in late 2015 or 2016

DELETED SCENE from PUNCTURED, BRUISED, AND BARELY TATTOOED
Actually, this scene is more a failed beginning that you might enjoy reading if you liked the book. I was playing around with the characters, trying to get a feel for them and the story. I had the scene in my mind but on paper, it just didn’t work. Looking back NOW, I can see why. I hadn’t quite captured Kory’s true nature. She was a little too playful. Also, you’ll notice in this version that Kory is closer to Lacey in this version…but by the time I did the rewrite, Tina was the closer friend.
~ ~ ~
Kory McCallister sat at the outdoor table near the sidewalk with her two best friends Tina and Lacey. They were waiting for their cheeseburgers while sipping iced tea and enjoying the cool May breeze, sitting on the patio of the café. Kory pushed her sunglasses up her nose, because she didn’t want her friends to see her expression. They were getting ready to grill her for what she’d just told them.
“No way,” Lacey said. “Where?”
“I dunno. I’m considering a tragus or septum piercing.”
Tina’s brown brows furrowed over her eyes of the same color. “Septum? Is that the one that’s like a cow’s nose ring?”
Lacey laughed, but Kory shook her head. Her friends wouldn’t understand. Still, she felt the need to try. “A septum is the bottom of the nose. Yes, I suppose like a bull ring.”
“Why the hell would you do that?”
Lacey tucked a piece of blonde hair behind her ear. “Yeah, I don’t get the septum either, but tragus piercings can be cute on the right person.”
“Thanks,” Kory said, picking up her glass of iced tea and sipping slowly. She didn’t expect her friends to understand. They hadn’t thus far. But she could see Lacey’s gears turning. The girl had been her best friend since middle school, all through high school, and they’d remained friends. The three women were attending community college while working and sharing the rent for a little three-bedroom house in a crowded part of town.
Lacey was tapping her index finger on the table. “I know you don’t want to hear this, Kor, but you want to go into business, right?” Oh, shit. Kory had heard this one from her friend before.
~ ~ ~
That’s a far cry from this, the real beginning of the book:
Kory McCallister sat on the brown vinyl couch in the air conditioned studio. She pulled her thumb away from her lip once again, because that nail had already been chewed into oblivion.
So stupid. Yeah, stupid that she was so nervous, but she couldn’t help it. She was going to see Stone Bowman soon. God, that man was her dream guy and he probably had no idea she even existed.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. No, she wasn’t nervous about getting pierced. She’d done it plenty of times and, with her fear of needles, she was surprised that she’d been able to do it so many times, but it was because of Stone. She’d entered this place two years ago and there he’d been—tall, dark, shoulder-length hair, scruff on his face, coal-dark eyes, and holy hell, more tattoos than her eyes could take in. His neck, arms, chest (although his shirt covered most of it), and heaven knew what else. His body was a living canvas, and Kory had fallen in love with the guy the first time she’d seen him. He was a dream. He was also a calming influence, part of why she thought she’d never be able to be pierced by anyone else on the planet, and she supposed that was why he was so good at his job.
He was also a hell of a tattoo artist, but Kory’s fear of needles had prevented her so many times from getting a tattoo.
No one would have ever guessed she was afraid of having a needle poke her because the girl was pierced all over—multiple eyebrow piercings, nose, lips, and her ears were pincushions. She also had a belly ring. She still had plenty of places to pierce, but she didn’t want to have Stone doing the honors on her nipple…not now, anyway. She definitely didn’t want anyone else doing it, either.
She knew having Stone pierce her was a waste of his supreme talents as a tattoo artist, but he was co-owner of the shop. She always requested him and he’d never refused.

The Indie Writer Companion
I’ve written a small book I’m calling the Indie Writer Companion, in hopes of helping other writers improve their work. It’s my experience as a writing teacher as well as my time spent as an indie writer that drive me to want to see indie writers publish some of the best work they can. I know most of my hardcore readers won’t be interested in reading this one, and that’s okay. I wrote this book for writers and I hope it helps them out! (I might write a follow up, but I haven’t decided yet. Stay tuned!)
The blurb:
Throughout her life, Amazon Bestselling author Jade C. Jamison has worn many hats. One of the most noteworthy is her ongoing gig as a college instructor (focused mostly on writing—both academic and creative writing classes) which, paired with her career as a successful indie author, gives her the delusion that she is qualified to help other indie (and aspiring) writers become the best they can be.
Jamison loves that indie publishing has opened the door to literally thousands of would-be authors, allowing them to share their creations with the world. In a realm that was previously shut off to a good many writers unless they could get their works through all the gatekeepers, most writers languished in obscurity or indulged in expensive self-publishing ventures and still failed to be read widely.
Electronic publishing has changed all that, has, in fact, changed the face of publishing as we once knew it, revolutionizing reading almost as much as Gutenberg’s press hundreds of years ago. The publishing process today is democratic, in that anyone with a little know-how can make his book available to the world—and readers, not publishers, decide whose book will be the next bestseller. But, says Jamison, with great freedom comes even greater responsibility. In the traditional publishing world that still exists today, authors have editors scouring their manuscripts, offering corrections and forcing edits, most of which are designed to make the work better in some way, creating tighter writing and better pacing, making the manuscript error free, and other beneficial changes that happen to a book undergoing the traditional experience. Some indie writers follow their cue and take the effort to invest in their work by hiring an editor and continually improving their writing, yet there are literally hundreds (perhaps thousands or millions!) of indie books available today that, in the author’s opinion, aren’t publication ready.
Jamison taught creative writing and composition classes for years. The underlying premise of this book is that every single story deserves to be told and read but writers should (and likely do) want their books to be the best they can be. This book delves into common indie publishing mistakes—errors that should be viewed as no-nos—and how to fix them. Jamison’s experience in the classroom with hundreds of student writers, as well as the years she has been involved in both indie and traditional publishing arenas, has given her a unique vantage point, and she wants to share her observations—as well as teach a few tips and tricks—with others in the writing world.
