Shifting the Fog Gremlins
Though occasionally seeping out through my work, I’ve never been one for airing deeply raw and personal stuff on theincubi that is social media.
I will admit however, that the last couple of weeks, tough emotionally and physically, and the sleepless ruminating that goes with the stomach churning fear of‘whatever next?’ have somehow lifted a certain prescriptive brain fog that I had let move in and bed down toblunt the auldcreative senses.
I’ve long-held the notion that I should really step up an...

Arkyne, story of a vampire – the final hurdle
Now into the final gallop,I hope to finish the novel by the end of this year. It’s been an interesting, and overall pleasant experience to write the majority of it online, but it’s time to take cover (sorry, terrible pun!) and finish it quietly and without my self-imposed scrutiny!
I am so, so grateful to the readers who stayed with me, and of course, once it’s ready, they will each receive a copy by way of my earnest thanks for keeping me going with their encouragement, feedback and general t...

Patrick’s Day: Intelligent, empathic storytelling…
Patrick’s Day [2014]
“When a young man with mental health issues becomes intimate with a suicidal flight attendant, his obsessive mother enlists a dysfunctional cop to separate them.”
The viewer’s experienceof escapism and anonymity is generally all that Ineed from a film. To become just as invisible as the guy or gal next to me amongst a collective audience, to empathize and to walk in the shoes of the characters looming large on the big screen. When a filmresonates on a latent or lesser-explo...

Music and mentors…
“Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness.”
Maya Angelou.
The Eagles formed in 1971. At that time, having already come through the most extraordinary experiences, I was a very little girl, with a very old head, and a soul absorbed with the grown-up realities forever etched there. Life lessons that I stored away, for a future time, when I had lived enough to decode and make sense of it all.
But that’s another story…
I didn’t really ‘hear’ m...

Arkyne, story of a Vampire: The feedback…
The first part of the novel is written, posted and has been read by some incredibly cool people, and Iam very happy to share the feedback I have been receiving since posting chapter one. However, if you sent me feedback via a private message, I haven’t included it here, asI am not sure you would want me to share it. If you areokay withyour thoughts on my novelistic effortsgoing ‘public’though, let me know! Also, feedback can be added here, in the comments box below this post.

On Writing: Am I insane? Yes, I’m a writer…
In light of my current adventures while writing my novel,The Vampire of Arkyne, online and for the world to see before I’ve even finished it, questions have come up as to why I have or haven’t taken a different road with it. So here are said questions, andthe shorthand answers:
Am I not looking for a Publisher? That would be verynice thank you.
So, who haveI sent it to? No-one. Made one attempt years ago, and got the typical ‘Not for us’ response. Which is fine, it wasn’t ready back then, and I...

On Writing: Ode to a Lady
In the big scheme of life and love, a piece of writing doesn’t rank that highly in terms of what is important, and what should get us riled up and upset. Recently, I read several posts from fellow writers expressing their disappointment on receiving the dreaded ‘rejection’ letter from the Film Board. My empathy was with all of them, as I KNOW that each one of them possesses immense talent, drive and vision. And I also know that for those projects to progress, the only missing ingredient was t...

Letter to David
As you begin to read these words, the scribbles of a person whose name you do not recognize, I can just imagine the curious thoughts that must be swimming around inside your head. Can almost conjure up your puzzled expression as you wonder if this lunatic, yeah, that’s me, has a few screws loose; if the rain is getting in upstairs.
I can assure you though, that nothing could be further from the truth. So before you scrunch this letter up and slam-dunk it into the nearest bin, I ask you please...
