The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance…better known as BIRDMAN

I have of latebeen reading up on the work of John Cassevetes, Shadows, A Woman under the Influence, Rosemary’s Baby…and looking at the heightened, in-your-face style of his work. And that innovative director was the first person I thought of when I watched BIRDMAN [The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance]

Satire at its most beautiful, it is co-written, produced, and directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, 21 Grams, Babel, Biutiful.A black comedy, but more import...

The Memory Wandering…

I don’t claim to know that muchin regard toall things poetic, and would never describe myself as such, but occasionally, in moments of emotive thought orreflection, I jot down what comes to the page and let it be.

The Memory Wanderingwas written some time ago and is themed around forgiveness and letting go. Common enough themes for humanity, but often the most difficult to get a handle on and more than often, unresolved.

Director of IN RIBBONS, Marie-Valerie Jeantelot, read the poem and decided...

To Dream On and Dream Big…

No reminiscence, no resolutions, just looking forward, dreaming big, and thankful. Thankful to the people I’veconnected with so far; the ones who contributed to helping me create good work; the ones who were at my back and remain there; the ones I look forward to working with this year.

He fuckin’ loves her, but suspects that his big, beautiful ‘whatever the fuck he just called her’ princess queen is cheating on him.

Time Standing Still

On a crisp winter morning such as this one, the view from Quinn’s bedroom window could be breath taking, but only if he looked straight ahead, keeping his line of vision over the tops of the grey slate and terra-cotta rooftops.

Quinn allowed his gaze to move across towards the smoke-hued mountains in the distance. Folding as they did and disappearing through the faded powder-blue sky, he could see the ice clouds knit together in that slow and lazy motion that calmed him like nothing else could...

Richard Harris International Film Festival

Had a fabulous time at the Richard Harris International Film Festival where ADAM was selected to screen and was shortlisted in competitionto go forward tothe Newport Beach Film Festival 2015.

Received some lovely feedback on our film…very touching…moving…entirely serious and intensely shocking…

And I am quoted in the Film Ireland article below…

On Writing…all that you have

Writing is discovery. Discovery is inspiration. Inspiration leads to more writing.

Doyourself a favour today. Pull out one of those old notebooks that you treasureso much, yet haven’t looked into for an age.Click intoa file folder that you haven’t opened for a while.

Rediscover that quote, note, concept, thought, script treatment or novel beginningthat you find waiting there, and work on it.

Ideas have patience, but time does not.

Do it. Now.

ADAM…still a beautiful affair

I haven’t blogged an update on ADAM for quite some time, and taking inspiration from Hunter S Thompson, who oncewrote that every glittering ounce of good news should be cherished and hoarded and worshipped and fondled like a priceless diamond, here I am — doing just that and sizzling from the news that ADAM has been officially selected to screen at The Richard Harris International Film Festival 2013, [2014] in conjunction with the The Newport Beach Film Festival (Official).

The Richard Harris...
