Ania The Grouch: The 2nd Novel Blues

Lately I've been feeling pretty 'bleh'. I've been motoring along on my second novel–thirty thousand words in three weeks is a pretty good average. I haven't skipped a single day, but I've whined a lot inside my head. I've whined and I've worried and I've doubted myself, and it's making me a total crank.

They say the second novel is always the hardest, whoever 'they' are. But I believe them. SEED has been doing pretty well for a debut release. It's only been on the market for a little over two ...

How To Publish Your Ebook, Pt. 2: Yay or Nay to Pseudonyms

Read Part 1 of the series.

Hi guys, and welcome to part two of How To Publish Your Ebook. Now, I know a lot of you are dying to get down to brass tacks, but we have a few more things to talk about before you can truly approach the publishing process with your eyes wide open. And one of those things is a question I'm pretty sure every new author struggles with when publishing first crosses their mind: should I use a pseudonym?

Some writers decide to publish under a pseudonym without hesitation, ...

Stephen King's House: Photos From Bangor, Maine

Hi everyone. So, just recently my Aunt Beth sent me an unexpected, and unexpectedly awesome email. Little did I know that she was in Bangor, and as my self-proclaimed #2 fan (she voluntarily took second place, giving up first to the hubby) she took a little side trip to one of the Mecca's of American Horror. That's right… Stephen King's house. I've actually never seen photos of King's house before. I'm sure there are some floating around the interwebs, but these are too good not to share...

Badger Badger Badger Post

I'm not big on 'blogger awards', but this one seemed kind of fun, so I'm rolling with it. Apparently I've been given the 'zombie-herpes-badger' award. I've been told it's prestigious.

See, I'm not so sure this is an award as much as it's a blogger's chain letter, but you know what? Whatever. It's Friday. I'm game. Look at that badger. Look at him.

The rules:

Thank and link the person who nominated you.Share seven random facts about yourself.Pass the award along to five new-found blogging...

Losing Touch With The Blogger Inside…

So, I think I may have made a mistake. A blogging mistake. Maybe…

When I started this blog, I was motivated by the fact that I was 'coming out of the closet', so to speak. I was throwing the covers off my head and telling the world, 'hey, I'm a writer, I'm going to publish a book, get used to it.' Naturally, that gave birth to, well, a writing blog… and that's where I may have gone wrong.

Obviously, I love writing, I love talking about writing, I love teaching people new things about writing...

How To Publish Your Ebook, Pt. 1: The Road Ahead

Hi there, and welcome to the first installment of 'How To Publish Your Ebook'. This is a blog series designed for indie authors who aren't quite sure where to start. The road to publishing, even when it's self-publishing, can be pretty treacherous. As I've already done it myself, I hope that my own experiences and knowledge will not only inform, but also inspire those of you who are biting your nails, already nervous.

Before we get started, bear in mind that I'm just a girl. I'm not claiming t...

Inside The Author's Studio With James Lipton & Ania Ahlborn

Welcome to Inside the Author's Studio. I'm your host, James Lipton, and I'm wearing a hat. Today, I'm excited to interview Ania Ahlborn, a horror up-and-comer that any cultured horror enthusiast will be wild about. Are you wild? I'm wild. Look at me and my sideways hat! I'm a wild and crazy guy!

Hi, Ania. Thanks for taking time out of your super busy schedule of… doing what? Tell us what you do all day.

Ania: I basically sit at the computer and check my online sales rank 24/7, James.

James...

Blog Tag: Eight Questions About My Tigerblood

That's right, I slapped you right in your tiger face!

I don't know about you guys, but I'm way too lazy to play real tag and it's way too hot for that nonsense anyway. Therefore, I present to you: blog tag.

R.A. Evans cheated and tagged me while I was clearly safe at base camp. But that's okay. I'll get him back on water balloon Wednesday.

So here are the blog tag questions. If you're tagged, it's your duty to answer these on your own blog. If you don't, you're out of the club forever… so don't ...

Indie Self-Promotion: If Nobody's Doing It, Nobody's Buying It.

I came here to read your blog, not to go on a scavenger hunt!

I've noticed a weird trend lately, and it's bugging me. As a writer, I go to a lot of writing blogs. I just randomly end up there. Sometimes I don't even know how I got there… but there I am, staring at the screen, confused, wondering what year it is.

For the most part I enjoy blogs about writing. Some of them are a bit dull, but if everyone was brilliant, I wouldn't be half as entertaining. Therefore, dullness doesn't disagree with ...

Blood, Sweat, and Determination

Six months ago, I opened up my laptop and began to write. It was the day after my birthday, only nine days into the new year, and I was determined as hell. "This year," I told myself, "is the year I'm going to write the novel I've wanted to write for as long as I can remember. This year," I said to myself, "I'm going to write the book that's going to change me as a writer."

Six months ago, I made a pact with nobody but me. And I don't break the promises I make to myself. Ever.

I've gone...
