What Scares Freddy Krueger?

Image Courtesy of The Movie Banter

When Robert Englund was asked what makes his blood run cold, he replied:

Nothing really scares me. When I did the first Nightmare film, I mean there’s films that scare me, I just even got a jolt the other night watching Cabin in the Woods. And I remember the original Alien got me several times, and I was a grown up when I saw that, and I dragged my poor father to see it.

But now, when I was in the makeup for the original Freddy, I fell asleep, we were shooting...

When Your Novel Is Just Not Working: An Author’s Take

I recently suffered a writer’s crisis.

It was bad. Like, slam-the-laptop-closed try-not-to-scream bad.

Thankfully, it wasn’t writer’s block, but I’m starting to wonder which is worse: not being able to write at all, or being stuck in a vicious loop of writing stuff you hate. What do you do when you find yourself so far off track that you’re left staring blankly at the computer screen, seething with self-loathing, ugly thoughts of throwing everything away and starting from scratch gnawing at you...

Horror, Resurrected!

Hi everyone!

Well, the day I’ve been waiting for since October has finally come! Today, if you’re so inclined, you can pick up the SEED re-release!

I’ve been gushing about the second edition for quite some time now, so I won’t go down that road in this post. If you’re curious as to what the big deal about the re-release is, you can read all about it in my previous entry.

I’m both nervous and excited to see what happens in the coming weeks and months. Will SEED hit the coveted Top 100 on Amazon?...

Facebook Flattery

I started [Seed] last night, and holy crap! I’m only 5 chapters in and it’s already given me more goosebumps than any other book ever has. My son asked what I was freaking out about, and I told him what had happened so far. He actually sat beside me and had me read aloud to him. In fact, he made me read 2 more chapters, even though I was done reading for the night. That’s pretty good for a 14 year old boy. -KA Bettes, posted on a fellow author’s Facebook page

Re-releases, Music, Contests, and Prizes: Welcome To July

Hi everyone!

It’s July! Can you believe it? This year has flown by for me, and I can hardly believe July is upon us. July is, as you know, SEED re-release month. That’s right, I’ve hijacked the entire thirty-one days. Forget Independence Day. Forget Nude Recreation Week (seriously, that’s a thing). Forget the fact that the summer Olympics kick off in London. None of that is important. Let’s just focus on horror. And demons. And cute little girls who turn into terrible monsters.

Now, I know what...

Book Expo America, Manhattan, and One Incredible Trip

Hi Friends,

It’s been a while, but I guess if I had time to blog constantly, that would be a bad sign, right? Things have been busy here. Always changing. Always progressing. But here I am, eager to tell you about my adventures. And, of course, share some photos.

We’re only a month away from the SEED relaunch, and I can hardly believe it’s nearly July. I just recently celebrated SEED’s first birthday, and it’s hard to believe that as well. To think that just a little over a year ago, SEED didn’...
