If you had to pick a new name, how would you go about that?

It would depend on the reason I was changing my name, I think. Could you be more specific?

Any tips for a poshmark newbie on how to get things to sell?

Follow closets, share your items to ‘parties’ right before they are about to end, price things fairly, share the closets of other users, and read all their guideline tips! Nice photographs of your things really help.

HELPING WOMEN: MAKE MONEY & FEEL FREE.

For the ladies of TUMBLR, or the men/non-gender conforming individuals who happen to have a stash of women’s clothes:

Hi! So there is an incredible new app (for now, it’s only available for iPhones) where you can sell your clothes/shoes/accessories online. Yep. It’s free to sign up, free to list your items, free to ship them (!), and the company only takes 20%. In less than two weeks I’ve made enough money to cover my student loans and car insurance for the month. It feels like free money, and I’ve been eliminating things from my closet that I don’t love anymore, which removes clutter from my life too. I’ve been essentially telling everyone I know about this app, and now I want to tell you.

It’s called POSHMARK. It’s super easy to use. My username is @thepinkpolkadot and if you’d like, feel free to shop my closet/just look around to see how I manage it. And please, if you do decide to join, use my code ( which is : HCVUT ) so that I can get $5 for recommending you.

I know my excitement makes this post sound a little scammy, but it’s not at all. It’s just a great way to turn your clothes into cash, or shop around for deals if acquiring clothing is your thing. Happy selling/shopping!

<3,

Meg

Kitten.: 'Mountain Dew Commercial Disguised as a Love Poem' by Matthew Olzmann

Kitten.: 'Mountain Dew Commercial Disguised as a Love Poem' by Matthew Olzmann:

Here’s what I’ve got, the reasons why our marriage
might work: Because you wear pink but write poems
about bullets and gravestones. Because you yell
at your keys when you lose them, and laugh,
loudly, at your own jokes. Because you can hold a pistol,
gut a pig. Because you memorize songs, even commercials
from thirty years back and sing them when vacuuming.
You have soft hands. Because when we moved, the contents
of what you packed were written inside the boxes.
Because you think swans are overrated.
Because you drove me to the train station. You drove me
to Minneapolis. You drove me to Providence.
Because you underline everything you read, and circle
the things you think are important, and put stars next
to the things you think I should think are important,
and write notes in the margins about all the people
you’re mad at and my name almost never appears there.
Because you make that pork recipe you found
in the Frida Khalo Cookbook. Because when you read
that essay about Rilke, you underlined the whole thing
except the part where Rilke says love means to deny the self
and to be consumed in flames. Because when the lights
are off, the curtains drawn, and an additional sheet is nailed
over the windows, you still believe someone outside
can see you. And one day five summers ago,
when you couldn’t put gas in your car, when your fridge
was so empty—not even leftovers or condiments—
there was a single twenty-ounce bottle of Mountain Dew,
which you paid for with your last damn dime
because you once overheard me say that I liked it.

SEEKING A BR00KLYN R00MMATE

ME: i’m clean, i have a small dog/alien, i hate cable, im a great vegetarian chef and will cook for you, i travel a lot for poetry, i sing often though not necessarily well, and i may take the reigns on decorating unless you’re super artsy pants.

YOU: should be clean and not antagonistic to animals. you don’t smoke in the apartment. preferably you are also an artist or a musician, but not necessarily, as long as you find your own joy in life. you are a feminist and you didn’t vote for romney.

I'LL SLEEP WHEN I'M DEAD

kaylahwheeler:

this spring I will be taking Megan Falley’s online class for poets/writers. My semester is clogged with nursing school thromboses so I am extremely pleased to be making time for art (I won’t actually be MAKING time, more like putting it in a cheese grater, but you get it). There still may be spots left - inquiries can be sent to her email (I won’t put it here but feel free to send FB messages!).

Meganfalley@gmail.com to sign up for either an online or in NYC class!

Write Bloody Author & NYC Slam Poet MEGAN FALLEY Teaching TWO Poetry Classes. Spots Open!

Hey all you aspiring, new, or somewhat-rusty poets out there! I am going to begin teaching TWO poetry classes at a super student-friendly rate, and I want you to come along on the brain-journey!

OPTION 1 // NEW YORK EDITION:

A 10-12 Week Class in poetry & spoken word, to meet at a local coffee shop where we dissect poems and craft new ones. The class will consist of of hands-on exercises, and will include field trips to open mics, readings, and poetry slams, ingesting the work of on the scene artists, as well as honing our own performance of our pieces on the stage. By the end of the semester, you will have created a chapbook of your own poetry to sell, have established a YouTube presence for your work, and have perfected your performance in the greater metropolitan area.

OPTION 2 // ONLINE* EDITION:

Want that same New York Poetry experience but live in Iowa? Elsewhere? A 10-12 Week Class in poetry & spoken word where we convene right here on the internet! The class will consist of studying and analyzing the greats and learning from their example. By the end of it you will have a larger catalog of poetry knowledge, dazzling poems, and a chapbook of your own poetry to sell, as well as a new community of writers to continue to build with and a honed performance of your own work.

*class will require a webcam.

Each class will be $12 a person per session. If you are interested, send an e-mail to MeganFalley@gmail.com. Spots will fill up fast, so inquire soon!
