31 Days of Horror – October 9
Night of the Demons III (1997)I watched most of this the night before, but re-watched it in the morning before work. Stephanie Bauder (local to Ottawa, no less) is one of the best final girls and her words at the end make me wish there were more of these films.
Goodnight Mommy (2015)
The Mayfair was showing this one, which seems to be getting a limited run after being a festival darling this summer. Being considered for an Oscar, it is a film that I just had to see. Very slow to start, the end contains one vile and perfect shot that will be ‘burned’ into my head forever. And that’s not even the image that caused two walk-outs that night.
The 31 Days of Halloween ‘Challenge’ is where you take in one or more horror films per day during the month of October. Aside from networks airing more horror for the month, many forums and social networking sites do the same. See what others are watching on The Mortuary.

31 Days of Horror – October 8
Night of the Demons II (1994)In preparation for a new Dead Air, I watched this series. Not the remakes however, as I’ll get to them someday but they were not readily available. Of the three, this is my least favourite. Afterward, I started Demons (1985) but didn’t quite finish it so will likely start that again over the next week or two, just because.

31 Days of Horror – October 7
Let The Right One In (2008)A definite re-watch but worth it every time. Along with this, A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night and Only Lovers Left Alive, I realized that most of the vampire films I’ve watched over the last several years have been art films. Dracula Untold is still on the list, but I’d rather see Vampyre (1932) first. Unlike most action-oriented vampire flicks, this movie leaves me a little sad thinking about what this life would be really like.

31 Days of Halloween – October 6
Otto: or, Up With Dead People (2008)When Netflix was cool, this was on there. I guess someone clued in to the depravity contained in an otherwise very fun art film and it is sort of hard to find after that. It’s the only Bruce La Bruce film I’ve watched so far, and while not for everyone, an important X-rated zombie film nevertheless.

31 Days of Halloween – October 5
Death Parade (2015)Funimation or Wiki
A new horror anime is always a treat. While screening stuff for an upcoming Dead Cells episode I checked out the first two episodes of this. Certainly worth the time, and it will be on a future podcast for sure. Very Twilight Zone feeling to this dark little game.

31 Days of Halloween – October 4
The Horde (2009)This was one Chris from BTK mentioned not long ago, and the day after the Ottawa Zombie Walk seemed like the right time to hit it. I’d also said ‘horde’ about 30 times in the previous 24 hours, so it was on my mind. Very gory and violent zombie movie for those sick of the made-for-tv style stuff.

31 Days of Halloween – October 3
Re-Animator (1985)This was a pick for Dead Air podcast, and a real treat. Over the summer I started reading Lovecraft chronologically as best I could. There are numerous copies of his short works in the house, and I have a collection on Kindle as well. This is the best adaptation of all.
Last Girl (2013)
IMDB no wiki
Over the summer this popped up on a recommendation list on IMDB and a little searching found an article on Horrormovies.ca. The trailer was pretty fantastic and I have to say I liked this one a lot. Glad it was available on VOD in Canada as so many titles are not. Bind Torture Kast covered this recently and they do a better job of explaining it than I.
