Rumpfest Ends • Final Laymon Thoughts, Reading Stats, & What’s Next

The Richard Laymon readathon, #readingandrumps has come and gone. I had so much fun that I look forward to next year. It also inspired my next video where I decided to recount all of my extreme horror books. More next week. So far this year I have read 33 books; 9 in June alone. That is a lot for me!

I owe this to experimenting with audiobooks and also joining the readathon. Both lent to six of those nine books! While I am not going 'all in' on readathons, I will be reading along with RGsDevilship in All-In August and picking one author to read for the whole month. I say here I have two authors in mind, but there are actually three...

In July, I have a few books to read and two non-fiction books. One of which is from the library - The 90s Teen Horror Cycle by Alexandra West - and ties in with the recent Dead Air episodes on The Faculty and I Know What You Did Last Summer. That last one was based on a 1973 novel of the same name; and that was news to me!

Best new horror books • 19 reads for July 2025!

So many great horror books are coming this July. It was as if there was a dam that broke somewhere - and this is not even all of them! As you know, I love to bring us the books that speak to me as top horror of the month, with an eye for those with cool covers. Have you read any of these already? If you plan on picking up one or two as I do, let me know in the comments!

This month, there seems to be a trend for both silhouettes on covers, as well as dark academia - but for adults. Are you a fan of that sub-genre? I think I am... or am going to be!

Endless Night by Richard Laymon: Simon says lets play cat and mouse

This was my second pick for this month’s Richard Laymon read-a-thon. As with many of his novels, I was not sure if I had read this before

How The Book Gets Tubed • Behind the scenes Q&A

Have you ever wondered what goes in to making a Book tube video? I saw Syn at Syn's Book Nook do this tag and while it is time for the Mid-Year Freak out Tag I am never really freaking out

Reading Chills, Thrills, and Laymon Kills • Weekly Reads

This week in my horror reading I wrapped up reading Cold Chills by Robert Bloch and really recommend one short story above all. The Plays The Thing is just perfect to me.

Among the Missing by Richard Laymon: Laymon light

For the first week of June, and a first week of the Richard Laymon read-a-thon I chose Among the Missing as I was sure I'd not read this one before; and I was right. A really great entry level Laymon I'd say

Best New Horror Books • What to read in June!

Only a small clutch of books caught my eye this month. There were not many to choose from in terms of plain horror.

Reading and Rumps • A Richard Laymon Read-a-thon!

You know I love me some Richard Laymon. He is one author I have read every summer for the past few years too. So, thank you, Regina for organizing this event!
