Discovery

Star Trek: Discovery is an upcoming American television series created by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman for CBS All Access. It is the first series developed specifically for that service, and the first Star Trek series since Star Trek: Enterprise concluded in 2005. Set roughly a decade before the events of the original Star Trek series, separate from the timeline of the concurrent feature films, Discovery explores a previously mentioned event from the history of Star Trek while following th...

Love Love Love

If dancing happens within several social constraints, are we able to make it more instinctive and true to one's feelings by forcing it?
Can we defy a certain self awareness factor by doing so?
More than thirty people responded to a casting call for a music video, but were not told the recording of this process would actually be in the video itself.
When asked questions about gender, religion, their feelings, and dance, they answered by dancing.
Unlike Rineke Dijkstra’s “Buzz Club” (1996) where d...

Gil Kazimirov - Mom, I Have a Few Requests For You

Mom,

I have a few requests for you, now that I’ve moved away:

1. My room.
Do not change a thing. Do not move the bed. Do not tear down my posters. G-Unit is an inspirational group of gentlemen.

My way worn, well-worn clothes, woven fabrics warming weak, weathered bones – keep them too, right where they are, pants, jackets, shirts, in a neglected pile, my silent accomplices in the making of the careless moments of youth.

Do not repaint the walls.
Do not buy a new desk.

Do not rid my shelf of un...

Using actors within carefully considered settings, Hannah Starkey’s photographs reconstruct scenes from everyday life with the concentrated stylisation of film. Starkey’s images picture women engaged in regular routines such as loitering in the street, sitting in cafes, or passively shopping. Starkey captures these generic ‘in between’ moments of daily life with a sense of relational detachment. Her still images operate as discomforting ‘pauses’; where the banality of existence is free...

Hug me, mother of noise.
Find me a hiding place.
I am afraid of my voice.
I do not like my face.

Happy End

happy end.jpg

A new poster for Michael Haneke's Happy End shows a calm, blissful view of the ocean for a not-so peaceful topic.

The drama tells the story of a family in Calais during the European refugee crisis. The poster, which seems to show an image that would be viewed through a camera (there's a timestamp at the top and the red recording button at the bottom), may look like a picturesque vista, but those familiar with Haneke's work know to expect that his story is likely to be a dark one.

Written an...
