Greg is a first-generation Portuguese-American raised in beautiful Bristol, Rhode Island. He left home at the age of 18 to join the Marine Corps and became a Sergeant and Marine Embassy Guard. Greg served at U.S. diplomatic missions in Ankara, Turkey; Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; and New Delhi, India. While in Jeddah, he led the defense of the U.S. Consulate during an Al-Qaeda assault. For those actions, he was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor and Department of State Award for Heroism.

After serving in the Marine Corps for over 4 years, Greg became a clinical psychologist to serve post 9-11 veterans and service members, facilitating their adaptation and recovery from the strains of multiple combat deployments. He holds a doctoral degree in clinic ...more

It was the first time I could share all of my experi…moreLike most who have put pen to paper, I was compelled to write by having a story I needed to tell. It was the first time I could share all of my experiences on active duty with family, friends, and the world. Since I was a young boy, writing has been an organic outlet for impassioned thoughts rather than anything forced or mechanical. Writing "Shattered Glass" was also a catharsis, a processing of one of the scariest moments of my life and the most challenging experience I have yet to face. Sharing and catharsis are the primary inspirations for my writing.(less)
