Desolation Point Deleted Scenes
I dipped into Desolation Point a few weeks ago while I was on my hols. It’s not my favourite of mine by a long shot, but I do still have a lil’ crush on Sarah so it’s fun to occasionally flick through it. Anyway, not a lot of folks know this, but the published book is missing about 8000 words from its ending. They were cut during editing and they’re a mixture of “yes, these are very self-indulgent and they definitely should have been snipped,” scenes, and “actually, I still miss these bits and I...

The Stolen Girl now Available on Audio!
For everyone who’s been hanging on for this, the audio version of The Stolen Girl is now available! That’s 10 hours+ of Nicola Victoria Vincent’s splendid narration waiting over on Audible for you.
I’ve been busy proofing alongside Nicki as she’s recorded the book, so I know it genuinely is a terrific listen and I’m very excited to be able to share it with you all

The Stolen Girl Now Available Everywhere
I think the header speaks for itself! The Stolen Girl – the second book in the DI Jo Shaw series – is now available from wherever you might like to buy your books! Huzzah!
For those hanging on for the audio version, Nicki Vincent has just finished recording it, and we’re hoping to have it up and ready to go around the middle of June.

Detective Inspector Jo Shaw is bored, desk-bound, and absolutely not supposed to answer the phone call that sends her to a body in an empty house. Throw...

Anyone For Pudding?
I’m merrily proofing the audio for The Stolen Girl at the moment, listening along to Nicki Vincent’s splendid narration, and I’m seven chapters in when I suddenly realise the damn book is chock-full of glorious traditional British puddings.
Now, the English get a lot of flak for their food. According to quite a lot of social media muppets, our cuisine is shite, we can’t cook, we boil everything to death, we eat BEANS ON TOAST for the love of God, and we have no flair for flavours. Some of tha...

The Stolen Girl released via BSB Today!
It’s officially 1st June, which means – Happy Pride Month! It also means The Stolen Girl – the sequel to A Calculated Risk – is now available exclusively from the Bold Strokes Books website in e-book or paperback. I do hope any early bird readers enjoy DI Jo Shaw’s latest shenanigans
(The photo is taken from Manchester’s Gay Village where Jo has spent many a drunken evening being outrageous, so I think she’d approve!)

The Stolen Girl will be available on wide release on June 10th and ...

Playing The Long Game
“Romances don’t have sequels.” That was the rule. I was told this as a fledgling author editing my second book, Desolation Point, which was sort of a romance but also an action/adventure novel with a plotline and a central relationship that I wanted to further develop. Because I’ve never been a terribly well-behaved author, I’d gone ahead and written its sequel regardless, and Bold Strokes Books kicked my arse a bit but published it anyway. And I’m glad it played out like that, because Tumbledo...

New Sapphic Book Review Podcast

I always have the best time chatting to Laura Sieber Green on her Sapphic Book Review podcast, and this latest interview was no exception. High on the agenda, of course, was a few sneaky insights into The Stolen Girl (no spoilers!). But we covered a lot of ground in half an hour, rattling through our favourite book lasses, the many times I’ve got up to mischief at work, crap US chocolate, Laura’s entertaining subplot for Ruth Maslin and Eleanor Stanhope, and the unanticipated consequences of...

‘The Stolen Girl’ Paperback Giveaway!
And just like that it’s almost June! Which means it’s nearly time for Jo Shaw to mess up yet another seasonal event, and she’s got Christmas in her sights in The Stolen Girl! My author copies arrived safe and sound, so how’s about a giveaway? I have two paperbacks up for grabs. Just say hallo on this post (or over on my main Facebook profile) or tell me your favourite Christmas snack/dinner and I’ll pop you in the hat. I’ll close the draw tomorrow evening (UK time) at 6pm. Ho ho ho!
The Stole...

‘The Stolen Girl’ – new release for June, 2025
Here we go with a brand new book! The Stolen Girl is the second instalment in the DI Jo Shaw series and the sequel to A Calculated Risk (Lambda and Goldie award winning and really rather fun!). It sees Jo picking herself up and launching herself straight into another investigation, whilst trying to sort out her relationship with the lovely Ms Isla Munro. The cover is done and dusted, the manuscript is currently with my editor, and it’s all kicking off in June, 2025, my friends.
Keep an eye o...

Handy Guide to Me on Social Media
I don’t think I’ve ever really told folks where else they can find me on social media, which seems a bit daft. To remedy this, I have compiled this handy (and very short!) guide. Also included a sheep count because obviously, these things matter.

My main social media home because I’ve been doing this quite a long time now and Facebook was the place to be back when I started writing. I still love it on there. I know it’s not perfect, but its ...
