SAVAGE BLUE PROOFS

Or, it is almost a book!

What are page proofs?

Well, let me tell you. This is the final steps before the book goes to press and gets dolled up with color and gloss and embossing. It's like my book is going to prom and it'll have many dates. What a book slut!

I've seen some authors get printed proofs. I have an e-file which is awesome. Now I can take it with me on my mini vacay this weekend.

I am so stoked for TUESDAY, May 7th.

Here is a tiny peek!

Artist Holiday Blog Tour

Or, a boozy Christmas gift to you!

Last year I wrote a piece on When I Was a Christmas Gypsy. Also, I cook to Christmas music. Like this.

How about, this year I discovered the best holiday drink in life. (It is *probably* 1000 calories per glass, but who cares? That's what January hardcore gym-going-penance is for.) So follow me on this recipe adventure as I show you how to make COQUITO.

Coquito is Puerto Rican-style eggnog. A friend from work gave me this recipe. We're going to tweak it a bit.

INGREDIENTS
1 egg (as if you don't know what that looks like)  1/4 tsp ground cloves  & 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon The Three Wise Cans of Creamy Deliciousness
1. Sweetened condensed milk
2. Evaporated milk
3. Cream of coconut

1/4 cup of SILVER (white) rum* 1/4 cup of GOLD rum*

Also 1/2 cup of WATER and 1/2 tsp of PURE VANILLA EXTRACT.

INSTRUCTIONS
*

STEP THE FIRST Beat the egg (that's what she said)
STEP THE SECOND Stir in egg with EVAPORATED milk in a double boiler.

LET IT REACH 160 DEGREES. Very important so you don't get salmonella and your ghost starts haunting me.

STEP THE THIRD Put the egg & evaporated milk mixture in the blender. Add the SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK. The whole thing. Like, ALL of it. (Note: when you open the can, don't lick the lid. It's tempting, but that's how you cut your tongue. Use a spoon.)
STEP THE FOURTH Scoop out the Coco Lopez stuff. Leave the watery stuff behind.
STEP THE FIFTH
Add your cloves and cinnamon.
STEP THE SIXTH   add 1/2 cup of water and vanilla extract

STEP THE SEVENTH

ADD THE RUM!  Trust me.

STEP THE EIGTH
Blend for 1 minute for assured thickness.

FINALLY,

If this is a gift, pour into a nice bottle and refrigerate for a few hours to a day.
OR,
If you're greedy and want it all for yourself, serve chilled or with ice.
*And by "1/4" I mean, as much as you'd like.

Feliz Navidad. I hope you all enjoy this cocktail with your friends because sharing calories is the meaning of true friendships.

Tomorrow's stop is over at Kristy Harding's blog ---> Here

Christmas love like,
Zoraida
