Mermaid Splash

Or, wait, that's a weird blog title.

I've been gone for a few. Not just here, but over at The Nightstand as well. I've been moving, traveling, decorating, reading.
This saturday I will be posting a teaser of my cover for The Vicious Deep!
Later this month I will have my very first interview.
All good things coming.
For now, I leave you with a song tuck in my head, which is out on iTunes. Go get it. Seriously. You need it in your life. <3

Be back soon like, Zoraida

immaculate dream

Or, taking a break from editing and thinking in general.
Right now I'm kind of in love with the cover of Duran Duran's COME UNDONE by My Darkest Days. I also and kind of in love that the Duran Duran video is an underwater dream.
check, check it out:
I have this uncle who's more like a brother to me. Growing up he listened to all this music, Michael Jackson , Duran Duran, Ace of Base--basically HIS 80s and early 90s tunes. I used to roll my eyes and blast my Britney Spears. A million years later, and I'm listening to these songs wondering how in the world I subconsciously know all the lyrics. It's this influence that really runs deep and I'm thankful for that. I also know just who to dedicate my upcoming novel to.
Speaking of said novel, here I am trying to cut 20k out of the 120k. It is not as hard as I thought it was going to be. For starters, I thought I'd cry every time I cut out a paragraph. I've come to understand what people mean when they say "PUT IT IN A DRAWER AND DON'T LOOK AT IT FOR A FEW WEEKS OR MONTHS." You need time away from your novel. It's kind of like when you see someone all the time, you don't really notice how they might change gradually. But then you don't see them for MONTHS and they gained 15 pounds and got a whole bunch of face tattoos and shaved their hair off.
So, maybe not exactly. But separation makes for a better understanding of things when you take another look at them. I can look at my words with a little bit of distance as opposed to SHEER ADORATION like usual.
I leave you with the cover of COME UNDONE by My Darkest Days. Isn't his voice sexy? Just what I need in the background while writing.

who do you need like, Zoraida?

Brought to you by Mermaids of Coney Island *2*

Or, how did I not know Sade was a mermaid, too?!?!?!
I remember my uncle listening to this album on repeat when I was little and I've only just now seen the video for it.

Enjoy the mermaid love like, Zoraida

Brought to you by Mermaids of Coney Island

Or, holy Poseidon! Even my NAILS can be mermaid-themed.
Pirates 4 has mermaids. I know this. I've contained my glee. I've been cool and collected.
But if there's one thing that makes me jump out of my seat faster than a long-tailed cat in a rocking chair is makeup.
If you know me, I have tons of glittering pots and liners and mascara and rhinestone appliques and .... you get the picture.
I saw these at my local Ricky's and gasped so loud the cute gay boy behind the counter arched his finely plucked eyebrow at me and went "you okay, guuurl?"The ones on the left have a layer of OPI's very cool new Shatter in Silver. #7 is Mermaid's Tears. And while I don't want to see any of my own mermaids crying, it's a very pretty spring color. I mean, lookie---

rejoicing in the return of the mermaids like, Zoraida
