Well, Well, Well
I went to do my Well Woman visit this morning. It’s been a while. See, my amazing doctor (the one who delivered Thor) decided to leave her practice, and I’ve been dragging my feet on finding a new one. I went to another doctor within Amazing Doctor’s group, but we didn’t make a love connection. I need to feel loved before you pop me with a speculum.
I went lady-doctor shopping by way of Google, and started calling around asking who was taking new patients, and who accepted my insurance. I was...

What I Did Over the Weekend
In 2013, at the Boston Book Festival, I met this fantastic woman, Jackie Hennessey, of Venting Sessions. She was delightful, and sweet, and funny, and smart so we made friends. She introduced me toListen To Your Mother, having been a cast member in Rhode Island. I told Robyn about it, and we both sent essays to the Austin show in 2014.
Robyn was an Austin cast member last year, and her remarkable essay will be part of the Listen To Your Mother book, which you can pre-order here.
This year, I se...

Checking In
It’s been quiet here, huh?
Quiet on the blog anyway. Since the last time I posted, Robyn Lane Books has released our first, full length novel (the fantastically well-received SECOND DEATH, by Emily Reese), brought together a baker’s dozen voices for a soon-to-be-released compilation of essays on motherhood (MOMMIE DIARIST), signed two new authors, and I’ve started art for our second picture book. I also completed another manuscript and am waiting to hear back from an editorial review board abo...

Holiday Guide: We Wish You a Healthy Christmas
I tell people that the most interesting thing about me is my group of friends. I am extremely fortunate to know so many hugely talented people. One of my hugely talented friends is June Graham, of June Bijou.
If you are part of the oil diffusing trend, you are going to love these handmade necklace diffusers June is making. Each one comes with its own scent pad, so you can diffuse your favorites, taking them with you wherever you go. June also has the oils available if you are just getting star...

Holiday Guide: Tis the Season
For shameless self promotion
While you are out there buying Christmas Nookies for Melissa Lenhardt’s short story, planning parties with Pure Romance, traveling with Allison Walker, decking yourself with shinies from the JewelryMaven, reading Milked, and ordering copies of A Fairytale For Mothers for everyone you know, remember that I have a couple of books to pop on your shelf.
Dominic Phillips is an enjoyable distraction from fashion designer Eve D’Amico’s loneliness, but there’s never been an...

Holiday Guide: Lumps of Coal? Not hardly!
Samantha Foxx said it best.
In honor of her late-1980s greatness, I give you today’s entry.
You don’t have to be naughty to enjoy a good short story. My friend, Melissa Lenhardt, contributed to a delightful little assortment of no-calorie goodies called Christmas Nookies (Hot Holiday Reads Book 2). I love short story collections because they are like a Whitman’s Sampler of authors. You can find the one you like best, then go buy a box of that.
You’ll be happy to know (and even happier after you’...

Holiday Guide: Getaway–get away!
When it comes to our wedding and honeymoon, there is very little I would change about the way B and I did things. One thing I would do differently is book our travel through my friend Allison Walker of Cruise One Dream Vacations. I would have asked her what she thought of our late-January cruise plans, and she could have told us to expect rough waters. Then, I wouldn’t have spent so much time with my head in a bucket. Well, maybe I would have because I do love hats, but the bucket would have...

Holiday Gift Guide: MILKED–A Modern Mommy Tale with a Retro Twist
Let’s kick off this year’s holiday guide with a great new book from Lisa Doyle.
By and large, Amanda Keane makes pretty good decisions. Okay, she might not have the best taste in men, but she’s got great friends, a good job, and an independent spirit. That is, until her 30th birthday ushers in a whirlwind romance with a sexy Irish musician who leaves her, not at the altar as she imagined, but accidentally pregnant. And when he disappears, she’s downsized out of a job, her apartment is robbed,...

Holiday Gift Guide–and a little surprise
It’s nearly time to start posting my favorites for my holiday gift guide. It’s also nearly time for the launch of Robyn Lane Books’ debut picture book.
Leslie Gibbons’ book, A FAIRYTALE FOR MOTHERS, is available everywhere on Tuesday, November 18. If you read this blog, then you can sneak in the door at Barnes & Noble or Amazon to buy a copy–a little bird told me they were available now. If you prefer a copy for your eReader, you can pre-order one here: A FAIRYTALE FOR MOTHERS
I really believe...
