“Come
on, get on board,” Alix said, reaching out her hand. “Put that
gun down and get in here. That sun will kill you in a day otherwise.”

“And
what about you?” came the synthesised voice behind the helmet of
the Strurian soldier. “Will you kill me faster than the sun will?”

Alix
sighed, her hand falling

“Show
me what my money has bought me,” Leonard Faraday demanded from
beneath the oversized brim of his dark grey hat. “I hate being here
as much as you love it.”

Benny
smirked. “Sure, Mr Faraday. Step over here and let's talk.”

Faraday
glanced at his two guards and nodded back towards the man sat on the

Henrik stared at the
sky shared by the nearby Slesvig and wondered if it was still there.
1914 would never end for him, and neither would the war that was
building across the globe.

The world around him
was lost in fog as thick as the black smoke he had choked on and spat
out when he had been running. When he had been one of many.

Compendium – Story 2

The girl in grey and
red leather armour was shoved through the thick doors, stumbling as
they parted and unable to right herself with her hands tied behind
her back. She fell to her knees, knocking dust into her own face. It
stung her eyes, ad it took a few moments of blinking tears away to
clear her vision.

The two huge

NEXUS POINT

Compendium – Story 1

The displays
surrounding Thomas blazed in flickering colours before flickering
into darkness, but the cramped bridge of Echo Five was still
awash with light from what was happening beyond its bulkheads.
Trapped, Thomas could only watch as the massive battlecruiser
Pyrinus Blade exploded around his ship. The reactors had
ruptured and

COMPENDIUM 2020 - A YEAR OF STORIES

As I enjoyed my Compendium 2019 project so much, it's back for this year in a new form! Instead of a week of daily stories, it'll be a FULL YEAR of weekly short stories and flash stories. ALL NEW. These will be posted for free here each week, and made available as ebooks on a quarterly basis, culminating in the print edition of all 52 stories arriving at the end of the year.

Magic the Gathering - Throne of Eldraine bundle review

I bought a Magic the Gathering Throne of Eldraine Bundle on the day of release from my favourite local game store The Dice Cup here in Nottingham, and I'm glad I did so. While so far I'm not finding the Eldraine set as immediately accessible as the Core 2020 set or the brilliant War of the Spark set, I think this one will grow on me. Getting the hang of new mechanics is always a bit of a

Where does the time go?

Wait, I haven't posted since MARCH?

Sorry about that. Bit hectic. The last few months have seen some ups, downs, some more ups and some changes.

I wrote a bunch of comic book stories, compiled and have almost completed my tenth book (THE DAMNED LAND AND OTHER APPARITIONS), some new songs, began work on a third feature script for my LA-based collaborator and started

Magic the Gathering - Ravnica: War of the Spark trailer

Okay, that was cool. I've been playing a lot of MtG:Arena of late as time to get out to games IRL (either MtG or Warhammer) is scarce at present. As such, Arena and the MtG forums have been a good distraction from one of the worst months I've experienced in a long time.

Featuring a melancholic reworking of Linkin Park's 'In The End'- which is actually pretty solid, considering my abject

VHS ATE MY BRAIN – 5TH ANNIVERSARY AND NEW EDITION NEWS

Wow... already? VHS Ate My Brain, which was my 7th book and which also spawned the column in Scream Magazine (which I wrote for a year before leaving – it continues with a different hack at the keyboard), is now five years old. I never once thought that my little book about mad old films on an obsolete format would last this long, but it still sells and I still get the occasional message from
