COMPENDIUM 2020 - STORY 39: A FATEFUL MOMENT

 A Fateful Moment
Compendium 2020 –
Story 39
By Andrew Hawnt
Graham Kelshaw stared
at the bullet hanging in the air and wept. He stepped around it, the
gun still in his hand, staring at the impossible thing. He prodded it
with a finger and it wouldn't budge. This was crazy. He'd pulled the
trigger and waited for the dark, but all that came was silence. The
bullet had stopped on its passage out of

COMPENDIUM 2020 – STORY 38: MY PRIMARY FUNCTION

My Primary Function
Compendium 2020 –
Story 38
By Andrew Hawnt
My skin is partially
burned off now. My core 'feels' the cold against the exposed sections
of my metallic skeleton through the hundreds of receivers planted
throughout my body. My suit, an all-in-one black bodysuit that is
able to bend light around it to create the illusion of invisibility,
has been damaged. I am no longer invisible.

COMPENDIUM 2020 – STORY 37: THE MIST GUARDIAN

 The Mist Guardian
Compendium 2020 –
Story 37
By Andrew Hawnt
Midran had always faced
North. His armour and multi-purpose bladed spear known as the Kelear
always shone with the gleam of things that had been respected for
generations, which they very much had.
The Mist was alive with
the souls of trillions of beings, saved in their dying moments from
planets across all of existence. They were as

COMPENDIUM 2020 - STORY 36: DIMENSIONEERS

DimensioneersCompendium 2020 –
Story 36By Andrew Hawnt
Logan and Charlie had
been falling for twenty minutes, but in those minutes of swift
descent, the two of them had travelled through hundreds of realities
in hundreds of time periods. Their plight had taken their focus away
from the loss of Jacob, Alice and Freya, the other three
Dimensioneers, at the hands of the Triumvirate in the

COMPENDIUM 2020 - STORY 35: THE BODY I GATHERED

The Body I Gathered
Compendium 2020 Story
35
By Andrew Hawnt
They are my treasures,
and they have been hidden for long enough.
Discarded by life, they
joined my depths at various points over the years, each of them being
drawn by my current into the central abyss at my core.
I was not always like
this. I was just a lake once. Just a mass of dirty water that people
shoved shopping trolleys into

COMPENDIUM 2020 – STORY 34: THE PASSING OF JONATHAN SPRING

The Passing of Jonathan
Spring
By Andrew Hawnt
Jonathan Spring was
freezing, but he had to endure a little longer.
He had watched the full
moon for hours as it passed across the sky, and had marvelled at the
strange weather conditions that had cast the world in hues of magenta
and deep blues as night conceded to the first slivers of morning.
Jonathan glanced down
at the heap of clothes, his

The Versus SpaceCompendium 2020 –
Story 33By Andrew HawntThe Versus Space was
fully automated. You would arrive on the neutral moon that it had
been built on, checked your vehicle in, signed the waiver and went
inside to kill your enemy. Two vehicles would be in the dock, while
only one would leave. The other, along with the loser's effects,
would be sold off. Two would enter the complex beneath

COMPENDIUM 2020 - STORY 32: WELCOME TO THE SHOW

Author's note: This was written for Halloween 2020 so I could offer something for kids to enjoy for free while things have been so weird and money has been tight for many people. I originally posted it as a video release on my YouTube channel, but this is the first time a text version of it has been published anywhere.
