Done. Sort of.
Book No. 2 (still untitled) is done. That is to say, the first draft is done. It came in around 65,000 words and after the first set of revisions (tightening, cutting out unnecessary words), it'll go down slightly. After tightening, though, I tend to expand certain scenes, so I think the book will ultimately end up somewhere around 70,000 words.
I love these two characters. David and Calleigh were a ridiculous amount of fun to write.

Writing, Editing, and Revising
As I try and finish my first draft of Book No. 2 (which I'm starting to worry will forever remain untitled), I realize that I am less of a "writer" and more of a "reviser." I think this is due in part, to the fact that the way I write is to not stop until I've hit 1,000 words for the day. Some days/nights when the words and scenes are flowing well, this means that I easily hit more than the goal. Other days, it's a struggle simply to reach the 1,000, but I know that regardless of how many words I leave on the page for the day, I know that I will always return to the page during the rounds of edits/revisions and will revise the paragraphs, often somewhat extensively.

Book Two News-Sort of
So, the second book in the Portland Tide series is about 85% complete for its first draft. I still have no title and I'm sure that I'll be extensively revising, but it's coming together. Now, if I can just sell it...

Publication Day!
Today's the day! Hail Mary is officially out today (although Amazon had the Kindle version up and running several days ago). Currently the ebook can be purchased from my publisher, Passion in Print, and Amazon. For those who prefer print books, they should be available within the next several weeks. I'll add additional links to Barnes & Nobel, Fictionwise, Sony Books, etc. as the book finds more corners.
Happy Reading.

It's Almost Publication Day!
It's almost time for the first installment in my new Portland Tide series. "Hail Mary," releases this Saturday May 14, 2011. From the back cover blurb:
Isolated both by choice and circumstance, professional football player Michael Santiago likes his life just fine, thank you very much. No commitments, no obligations, and absolutely no family involvement allows him to completely focus on his career with the Portland Tide.
A late night run-in with Mary Richardson, a woman Michael knew from college, sets Michael and Mary on a course of events that causes Michael to question the choices he's made. Meanwhile, Mary intends to demonstrate to Michael exactly what he's missing. But after a lifetime of seclusion, can Michael trust someone else with his heart he's so closely guarded?
The book will be out first as an ebook, available at my publisher's website: www.passioninprint.com. Within several weeks, it will be available also in print at Barnes and Noble and Amazon, and as an ebook on Amazon, Fictionwise, All Romance E-books, and other sites. I'll post links as soon as I have them.
Hail Mary available Saturday.
