Miguel Uribe's Mom Diana Turbay Was Murdered Journalist
Wounded Colombian senator Miguel Uribe Turbay is the son of a murdered journalist named Diana Turbay.
She was the daughter of a former Colombian president Julio Cesar Turbay; Uribe Turbay, a potential presidential candidate and opposition party leader, was shot and wounded while giving a speech at a park on June 7 in Bogota. His wife wrote on his X page that he is fighting for his life.
U.S. fans of the series Narcos will remember the story; that show prominently featured the real-life story of Diana Turbay, a prominent journalist who was kidnapped by forces controlled by Pablo Escobar's Medellin Cartel. She died in a raid to rescue her.
In 1991, The Los Angeles Times reported: "When their capture appeared imminent, the gunmen opened fire on their hostages' backs, fatally wounding (Diana) Turbay." However, Time Magazine quoted a book as saying that Diana Turbay was killed by the government in a botched attempt to rescue her: "Turbay, 40, was killed during a raid by government security forces," Time wrote.

CNN reported that Miguel Uribe Turbay is "from the conservative Centro Democrático – or Democratic Center – one of the biggest opposition parties" and suspects are in custody.
According to the Inter American Press Association, Diana Turbay "died on January 25, 1991 in a police operation in which she received a deadly gunshot wound to the back."
Diana Turbay and several others "were held under the command of Pablo Escobar, head of the Medellín Cartel, who had set a trap for them," the site reported. She was the editor of a weekly news magazine, according to The Tampa Bay Times.
What was the motive? "She had been kidnapped by Escobar to put pressure on the then president, César Gaviria, to overturn the extradition agreement with the United States," the Association says.
NBC News confirmed the familial relationship between Uribe Turbay and Diana Turbay.
Diana Turbay "had been held on a ranch near the town of Guarne, nine miles north of Medellin in northeast Colombia, and was being guarded by armed sentinels when police special forces attacked," UPI reported in 1991.

Uribe is a senator and potential presidential candidate in Colombia. He was shot in Bogota on June 7.
"I am Maria Claudia Tarazona, Miguel's wife. Miguel is fighting for his life at this moment. Let us ask God to guide the hands of the doctors who are attending to him. I ask everyone to join together in a prayer chain for Miguel's life. I place my faith in God," a translation of the post on X said on the evening of June 7, 2025, U.S. time.
Uribe's wife frequently posts tributes and photos of and to him on Instagram.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio condemned the attack.

"The United States condemns in the strongest possible terms the attempted assassination of Senator Miguel Uribe," he wrote on X.
Viral videos showed chaos at the scene as well as a bloody car. One chaotic video captured Miguel Uribe Turbay speaking at the campaign rally before gunshots rang out and chaos ensued.

According to local reports, Uribe was hit with a bullet and was rushed to the hospital.

Another video also showed Uribe Turbay speaking when the gunfire rang out.
Uribe Turbay's X bio reads, "Senator of the Republic Colombia has a future. I am a lawyer, Master in Public Policy...and Master in Public Administration.
.According to CNN, Uribe Turbay is a member of "the conservative Centro Democrático – or Democratic Center – one of the biggest opposition parties" in Colombia.

“Armed individuals shot him in the back while he was participating in a campaign event at around 5:00 p.m,” Uribe's party said, according to CNN, which reported that suspects are under arrest. Daily Beast reported that a suspect is 15.

"This is a direct threat to democracy and the result of the violent leftist rhetoric coming from the highest levels of the Colombian government. Having seen firsthand Colombia’s progress over the past few decades to consolidate security and democracy, it can’t afford to go back to dark days of political violence," Rubio added.
"President Petro needs to dial back the inflammatory rhetoric and protect Colombian officials. We stand in prayer with Miguel’s family, loved ones, and his supporters. Those responsible for this attack must face justice," Rubio concluded.
According to the Economic Times, Urbay "is the grandson of former Colombian President Julio César Turbay and the son of journalist Diana Turbay, who was killed in 1991 during a failed rescue operation after being kidnapped by Pablo Escobar’s Medellín cartel."

Ryan Coogler Has Talked to Denzel Washington ‘for a Long Time’ About ‘Black Panther 3’
There may be no single name in Hollywood that draws more attention when they're linked to a movie than Denzel Washington. The iconic actor has put together one of the most decorated and respected resumes in the world of entertainment, and even most recently starred in a Broadway revival of ‘Othello’ with Jake Gyllenhaal.
So, the big question now is what lies ahead for Washington? He remains just as popular and highly sought after as ever, and from the sound of it, he's had plenty of conversations about jumping into the Marvel world.
Specifically, Washington has been linked to the popular series Black Panther, with a rumored role in Black Panther 3 being the primary talking point.

Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, fresh off the red-hot box office run of his movie, Sinners, joined the latest episode of 7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony, and the topic of Washington came up.
After it was mentioned that Washington had shared details about joining Black Panther 3 and stated he's a "huge fan" of Coogler, the director addressed the rumors head-on.
When asked if there was a role specifically in mind for Washington and if he's been writing him in for it, Coogler responded, "Yeah, all of that, all of the above."
"There's no fiction out there about that..." Coogler said. "...Denzel is family at this point...I think he's the greatest living actor, and in terms of what he means to our culture? Forget about it, man."
"I've been talking to him about this for a long time. I was surprised when he mentioned it, but it's not like it's not true. So much bulls*** gets shared, there's so much out there that's false, [so] for there to be a truthful thing out there is fine."
Coogler added that Washington "said a truthful thing, there's no lies," about the duo possibly working together on Black Panther 3.
It's a strong response from Coogler addressing the rumors, and from the sound of it, the likelihood of Washington joining the Black Panther series is high. As for what role the actor could play, that remains a question mark, but fans should feel optimistic about the chances of seeing Coogler and Washington team up in the future.

Wyatt Russell Hints at ‘Completely Different’ John Walker in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Many Marvel fans kicked off summer with a newfound love of a group that dubbed themselves “The New Avengers.” The release of the popular film Thunderbolts* took superhero fans by storm, as the group of underdogs emerged as the next hot thing in the Marvel universe.
While there's been no word on a potential sequel film, one thing fans can look forward to is the 2026 release of Avengers: Doomsday. Multiple members of the Thunderbolts* are slated to be in the latest Avengers movie.
Among the names set to jump into the star-studded superhero film is Wyatt Russell, who played U.S. Agent John Walker in Thunderbolts* and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Interestingly, Russell explained what was so unique about playing John Walker in Thunderbolts*, but also detailed how it's likely to be a "completely different" version of the character in Avengers: Doomsday during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
"...That was what I found interesting about the character — you can play an insecure superhero who’s still good at his job, but needs to learn things about himself to become fully realized," Russell explained.
"So there’s an arc I can play over however many series or movies and still make the character interesting. And that’s what I enjoyed about it. The John Walker I played in Falcon and the Winter Soldier in 2020 is completely different version than the guy in Thunderbolts* and I think will be completely different again in Avengers: Doomsday."
It's an interesting comment from Russell, who also told The Hollywood Reporter that they began filming the next Avengers "about a month and a half ago." Whether he's been filming for the bulk of that or just a portion is unknown, but it could give some insight into his role in the film.
Avengers: Doomsday's release date was pushed back in late May, and is now slated to hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2026.

Popular Grocery Chain Wegmans Opening New Location June 25
The grocery business is a competitive one, with more than 45,000 supermarkets in the United States, according to Food Industry Facts. That big number includes supercenters, warehouse grocery, conventional supermarkets, limited assortment grocery, conventional club, natural/gourmet stores and military commissaries. So, yes, there are a wide variety of supermarkets across the country.
The supermarket business also employs a lot of Americans, counting 5.5 million as of 2024 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The number of supermarkets and grocery stores in the U.S. is on the rise, too, and has grown 1.5% per year on average over the past five years from 2019 and 2024, according to IBS World.
Now, a popular grocery chain is expanding and opening a new location soon.
Wegmans is growing in 2025. The chain has more than 100 locations on the East Coast in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Washington, D.C., and Delaware, according to the grocery spot's website. Now, Wegmans plans to expand "in the northeast and mid-Atlantic regions."
So, Wegmans is not only expanding but also heading into a new region. Wegmans announced in December 2024 that it planned to open three new stores in 2025, including in Norwalk, CT; Lake Grove, NY; and Rockville, MD.
"All three stores will feature the traditional departments Wegmans customers have come to know and love, including delicious restaurant foods (sushi, pizza, chef-made salads, and sandwiches), an abundant produce department with hundreds of different fruits and vegetables, and a wide variety of seafood, meat, bakery, deli, and cheese options," they said in a statement.
Wegmans opened their Lake Grove location on Feb. 26. Next up, they'll officially open their Rockville location on June 25. Later this summer, on July 26, they'll open their Norwalk location.
Wegmans added that customers were requesting these locations to be added to their store lineup, stating, "Each year, thousands of people who have visited our store for the first time, or moved to a place without Wegmans, write asking that we build a store in their town. Since we open just two or three new stores each year, it would be impossible to oblige every request."

AT&T Offers Major Discount to Older Customers Who Are 55 or More
AT&T has announced a major offer to older customers who want to find savings for mobile phone service.
Get prepared if you're at least age 55 but aren't quite ready to be called a senior. The plan applies to anyone age 55 or older, and it's being offered on a "senior discount" page.
The offer was trending on June 6 because of the cost savings involved.
The AT&T senior discount page reads, "Two lines of unlimited wireless. Our lowest price. Exclusively for customers 55+"
The offer promises "$35/mo. per line when you get two lines. Price after discounts with AT&T 55+ plan and eligible AutoPay and paperless bill. Taxes and fees extra."
The phone company adds, "AT&T may temporarily slow data speeds if the network is busy. Proof of eligibility req’d or price is $20/mo. more per line. Discounts start within 3 bills."
The senior discount is also available for one line, but rises to $40 per month in that case, according to the website.
Under the header of "what you get," AT&T wrote, "Unlimited talk, text & data in the US, Canada, and Mexico. AT&T may temporarily slow data speeds if the network is busy. Roaming may be at 2GB speed."
To get the discount, AT&T suggests: "Customers 55 and over are eligible for exclusive pricing. Enter your details online, or call 833-983-3777 to speak to an AT&T expert."
The online form asks for a date of birth.
According to CNet, the plan is "a bit bare-bones without the fancier features of the carrier's pricier offerings, but it's also cheaper than those and notably more affordable than its former senior plan."

Bobby Flay Says Girlfriend Brooke Williamson Is a Good Match
Celebrity chef Bobby Flay didn't hold back when asked about his new girlfriend Brooke Williamson.
Based on Flay's most recent comments, the romance is going very strong.
Both Flay and Williamson are starring on the show BBQ Brawl. They started out as professional friends before the relationship turned romantic.
“Well, first of all, I've been friends with Brooke forever,” he told People on June 4. “I mean, she and I have been friends for a long time and so we shot this show before we started actually officially dating. So it has always kind of been the same for me.”
Both Flay and Williamson are divorced with kids, and that has bonded them, he told People, saying, “I love working with Brooke. We have a lot in common. We're very lucky. We're both chefs. We both have kids. We're both parents.”
They've starred in other shows together but have only let the public know about their relationship since March.

Renee Ferguson Dead at 75 After Trailblazing Journalism Career
Renee Ferguson, a trailblazing television reporter in Chicago, is dead at 75.
How did Ferguson die? Ferguson's cause of death was not released. Tributes flowed in for the investigative journalist.
NBC 5, her former television station, confirmed her death with her family on June 6, 2025.
"Renee Ferguson left an incredible echo in our newsroom that still rings through the DNA of our investigative journalism, and that legacy will continue," said Kevin Cross, president and general manager of NBCU Local Chicago, to that station.
According to that station, Ferguson was the first Black woman to work as an investigative journalist for a Chicago television station. She worked for NBC Chicago from 1987 through 2008, the station wrote.
Indiana University honored Ferguson in an alumni tribute before her death.
She was the co-founder of the Chicago chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists, the university wrote.

"A television journalist and investigative reporter, Ferguson’s writing roots trace back to her adolescence, even before she attended IU," the university bio says.
"Her junior high school named her Most Likely to be a Journalist. Ferguson always wanted to be a writer, and living up to her middle school superlative, she has told countless stories over her career," the bio says.
According to The Chicago Tribune, Ferguson's career spanned 25 years at two television stations in that city.
Ferguson's husband, Ken Smikle, died before her, according to a 2018 article in the Chicago Sun-Times.
It says that he died after his wife made a public plea for a donor heart for him.
He was described as a "well-known" journalist who ran a marketing firm. He was 66 when he died after suffering from congestive heart failure, The Sun-Times reported.

Iconic Disneyland Monsters Inc-Themed Attraction Closing in Early 2026
On June 5, Disney announced a major move to help clear space for two new attractions slated to hit the park in fall of 2026.
Disneyland revealed plans are underway for a new parking structure and transportation hub that will be built on the east side of Disneyland Resort to provide approximately 6,000 parking spaces, shuttle and rideshare areas, security screening and dedicated access for traffic off of Disney Way. The enhancements are the first step in the park's next phase of construction to create infrastructure for two new attractions on the Avengers Campus.
But that's not all. Disneyland is also planning a new Coco-themed ride and Avatar destination at the Disney California adventure park.
"As we continue to add new experiences to Disney California Adventure, we’re excited to share that the upcoming attraction themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ Coco will be built near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier, in areas that are predominantly backstage today. Construction on this attraction is set to begin backstage this fall!" Disney Parks Blog said about the Coco exhibit.
"Additionally, we’re looking forward to transforming a portion of the current Hollywood Backlot area into our Avatar destination in Disney California Adventure. This project is still in the early stages of development, and additional details will be shared later, including construction timeframes," it added of the Avatar destination.
While fans will be glad to see the new attractions come the fall of 2026, they'll have to say goodbye to a few close friends first. To make way for the new attractions, Disneyland announced the iconic Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! attraction will be closing in early 2026.
The ride first opened in 2006 and will celebrate 20 years before it makes way for new attractions.
